Lovely Museum - absolutely what Ruskin himself said it should be - a wonderful journey through some of Coniston's historic people and moments - the original Swallows and Amazon's dinghy and Campbell's World Speed Record adventures with an interesting and well informed selection about Ruskin himself

In all honesty, we came here just to kill some time before we did the Gondola cruise around Coniston. What a GEM! Although compact, this is an exceptionally well curated museum. You start with some history on local first world war heroes, moving on to local geography in mining, rock climbing, steamship Gondola, the Swallow (from swallows and amazons) then to the larger section on Ruskin. There's also the annex containing the Campbell museum. All of it absolutely fascinating and we could have spent twice as long there. Highly recommended!!!!

Great museum telling the story of the area. With the Bluebird exhibition based there too. A great way to spend a few hours when in Coniston.

A brilliant little museum in the heart of Coniston. Fantastic information about the life and times of Donald Campbell also local history artifacts and memorabilia.

Really enjoyed the museum. The problem was finding it, need more signage. This is a really interesting place which could be more popular if the council would put up signs

Quaint little museum. Nothing much on Arthur Ransome but interesting pieces on Bluebird history.

An excellent museum of the history of the Coniston area. But what makes this museum special is the Bluebird wing and the history of Donald Campbell attempting to achieve the water speed record in Bluebird. Well worth the money, support this museum.

Interesting, albeit small museum. I would have liked to have seen a general overview of Ruskin perhaps on the wall somewhere. The museum appeared to assume lots of information about him and instead focused of displaying his artwork. I also would have liked more information about his marriage.

Was worth to visit - massive collection of local laceworks, learned so much about John Ruskin, his life and work, Donald Campbell, and Bluebird. Husband was a bit disappointed not seeing original Bluebird K7, but there is hope that in the future it may return to museum.

One of the best small museums in the country! Endlessly fascinating — and one ticket purchase lets you return multiple times in a year, so great value.

Nice to see where the Bluebird all started from and a bit of family history, yet not much to see other than the recovered jet engine and a bit of shrapnel. The rest of the museum is a mixture of canvas paintings and a musical area showing old instruments, with a small part of the museum dedicated to the history of green slate from the lakes

One of the best small local museums I have ever had the fortune to visit. A huge amount of information across the 3 sections of the museum: Coniston and its history, Donald Campbell, and John Ruskin. Some great items, beautifully presented information, and the lady at reception was very knowledgeable and friendly. I'm definitely going back again.

Very interesting, well worth £7.50 entry. Was particularly charmed by Ruskins paint box,a great addition to the pictures exhibited.

Excellent small museum reflecting Coniston and some of its more famous people ' John Ruskin, Donald Campbell and Arthur Ransome to name a few. Exhibits are well.laid out and described. Particularly enjoyed the Bluebird Wing with its many poignant exhibits. A visit to Ruskin and Campbell's graveside finished off a memorable visit. One small point, try the Hardwick Cafe next door to the museum - excellent

This is a must visit when your in the area. It's awaiting the return of the K7 Bluebird into the museum. It has lots for the younger members of the family to watch and listen to. These cover all the local history and geology

Interesting mixture of exhibits related to Coniston history and people. Could have seen more if we had allowed more time. Highlight for me was Ruskin drawings of Venice.

A small but interesting museum there is a lot of interesting material about Coniston. But the star of the show is the room converting the Campbell's and their world speed records.

I think museums are a matter of personal preference. That said, and on the basis that I liked the content, it was well laid out, well signposted, and generally contained articles and pieces of interest. Obviously the subject matter dictates whether it is of interest to the individual or not.

Really interesting museum showcasing the work of John Ruskin who lived locally. Also other local heroes of World Wars and pioneers of Climbing Association as well as new wing dedicated to the Campbell's and Bluebird history.

Beautiful little museum explaining the life and work of John Ruskin who should be known to all (but not to me beforehand). Also a great room filled with the story of Donald Campbell and Bluebird as his fatal crash happened on Coniston water.
