I got some perfect information from a lady and a bloke about the Bluebird trials on the lake. I was told that the event had been cancelled. A shame but the other info I received was very informative. Lovely people in the information centre. I thought at first the man/bloke/fella was grumpy but very far from it. He and the lady certainly knew what they were talking about.

Only stopped here for 5 mins but the info center was very useful, plenty of leaflets to tell you about the surrounding area. There is a toilet and a shop as well. (images are of Coniston Water)

Friendly staff but be aware that it is located in a pay and display car park so if as we did you just want an answer to a quick question, there is nowhere free to park to do so. This also includes the disabled parking spaces which are fully chargeable at the same rates!!

A small village , with a few interesting sights, usually used to access walks incl "the old man" few pubs and eateries after a nice walk, only problem will be parking during summer, in house(village) arguments stopped a needed place🤐 to park, please try not to annoy residents with parking

Yes, this is a handy little place and you can get all sorts here. There is even a scale model of the Bluebird, on display in the entrance area. My photos are of the area around the old copper mines, on the way up to Levens Water, a spectacular beauty spot.

Good place to go if you're planning on doing a walk or a full-on climb up the hills+mountains. Many maps are available to buy, people to offer help+advice and the daily weather conditions for the mountain area. Toilet area close by.

We decided to take a boat trip so we found a car park which was right by the information center and so we enquired there. The lady was really helpful and she booked us on the trip there and then which included a discount for booking at the information center. She gave us directions and a small map of the direction to walk to the jetty which was by a cafe. The centre was very interesting as it gave a brief story regarding the world water speed record attempts and the loss of Bluebird K7. Other items were also on offer there and I recommend anyone to visit as to get the best from the area.

What a quaint town in the Lake District! We found it as we drove lazily around. The people are quite lovely and their seagulls quite tame. Wish we had planned a picnic ahead of time and taken it out on one of the boats you can rent (by the hour). Reasonably priced!

Lots of lovely gifts to buy family whilst at holiday. Staff very knowledgeable about local area. Go into first exit of car park, not second as there is a one way system.
