Five of us booked for Christmas lunch following excellent recommendations from family who had attended the previous Christmas. The cost per person was £82.50, and although this goes some way to staff having to work the day, the food should be up to some standard. However, upon arrival, we were eventually given a third of a glass of warm, flat prosecco each, which had been poured already and was waiting for all parties arriving. I questioned this, and our waiter did top our glasses up with much nicer fizz. The potted shrimp starter was basically tiny prawns solidified in butter, and those who had ordered it said the look and texture resembled worms... the soup tasted nice but was served lukewarm, which was disappointing. The mains had a good amount of meat with them but it was shocking that the only accompaniments were x1 roast potato, x1 carrot, x1 parsnip, x3 sprouts, a small spoon of red cabbage and a round of stuffing the size of a 50p each!!! I think the restaurant had tried to mask this by serving our food on child sized plates. The desserts were just OK... the food was so poor that I was embarrassed to even take a photo of it to share with other family members as we usually do. We were actually still hungry when we arrived home, which is not what you'd expect for the price we paid plus additional drinks purchased on the day!!! In hindsight, we perhaps should have complained on the day, but staff seemed so overstretched it didn't seem right. Moreover, we were out celebrating our christmas engagement with family who had also booked this on our behalf, and so we didn't want to embarrass them or put a dampner on our news. It is such a shame as when we have visited this restaurant previously, the food has been great. I'm not sure we'll return after this shocking experience 😳

Had various meals at the white lion ,all very nice, however was so very disappointed in the Christmas Day meal, soup too thick and tasteless, the shrimp was greasy and tasteless.the beef was atrocious, undercooked and mounds of fat ,with ONE potato, ONE Parsnip and thin gravy , a child's meal of sausage and mash was poor the sausage undercooked very ,upset as this was for a family get together,on a rating of one to ten ,one would be generous, for the sum paid of £480 for 5 adults and one child it was disgraceful.the young waitress was a lovely polite young lady ,the best experience of the whole 3 hours. Sorry to give such a bad review, but perhaps too many were booked in for the kitchen to manage to give a meal worth the money . would have got far better meal at Rookery Hall.

Very nice pub/restaurant. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. The food was fresh and delicious but unfortunately when it came down to the bill things turned south quick. Now i had the 3 course from their Light menu which was supposed to be 16,50 or something like that. Now i don't mind paying more for food but tell me you're charging me more. The main which was a 4oz rump steak they charged me £19.50 and an extra £3 for Peppercorn sauce. All of this was supposed to be included in the menu that you advertise. After a small debate with the waiter about the bill he took about £6 off the bill but still charged way over the set 3 course menu price. Due to that reason, and that reason only my review is negative. Shame because everything else was very nice.

Very nice rooms here with complimentary tea and coffee and nice biscuits and a comfortable bed. Lovely countryside location with gorgeous seating area in the garden. Breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately no hot water for a shower. Slow to fix. Service needs slightly more attention to detail. Fingers marks on light switches etc. But I would stay again.

2 stars as my salmon dish was lovely and decor is nice. Left frustrated as waiting to be sat, partners fish dish had so many bones in as if chef has not prepped it properly, nothing was done once we mentioned to the server about this. Then finally we sat there waiting for the bill/card machine and no one came. Poor service. Paid at bar... £50... gutted

I recently visited the White Lion to celebrate my father's birthday and it was amazing! The rustic look of the venue makes you feel comfortable and the general aesthetic is incredible! The food was great and the staff were always on hand for any requests, drink top ups or just a chat! The surrounding area is beautiful and full of fields with sheep and cows roaming around. However, you might want to visit surrounding areas (like Crewe or even Stoke) if you're wanting more things to do. If you're looking to eat somewhere that gets you out of a busy town/city and wanting to enjoy high quality food, then I cannot recommend this place enough! Perfect place to enjoy food with those you love in a calm environment!

We came here for Xmas lunch and sadly it was very disappointing . We paid for five of us at £82.50 each .We come here on a very regular basis and had recommended some of our family to join us as was so good in Xmas 2022 . The food was not too bad although my soup was lukewarm, my husband had the potted shrimp and this was not all appealing to look at or tasty. The portions were quite small and we went home still hungry . The fizz we had on arrival was a third full and flat . It was already poured so maybe had been there a while. We were put in the old part of the hotel and not the restaurant bit which considering we had booked really early last year was not great. They appeared shortstaffed and the front of house was not as cheery as could be . On the whole not good and wil not be coming back for some time I don’t think .

Superb venue, lovely staff and great food. Fish and chips was hot (bit of a novelty these days when food is often served up lukewarm) with really crispy batter, perfectly cooked.

Was taken here for lunch by a family member who said it was amazing. Place was cold on entering so needed a hot choc to warm me up which was👌. Chose soup and a flat bread - soup had no flavour (spicy parsnip apparently) and flatbread (lamb kofta) was tasteless also, and for the price of £10 was very disappointing. A lot more flavour and filling was needed as the flatbread itself was tasteless. I personally think every meal should leave a kitchen as if a secret taster was eating. Up your game White Lion, this was shocking.

Nicely decorated pub where we had a great 3 course meal. Fresh produce and a good selection of beers. Not overly busy for a early Saturday evening. Will visit again.

We attended a family wedding here on 24th November 2023 and stayed overnight. The Owner, The Manager and all the staff went above and beyond to ensure we all had a wonderful time. The food during the day and evening was exceptional. Our room was perfect, spacious, clean and warm. The breakfast in the morning was all laid out in the dining room for us to serve ourselves with waitresses coming and going fetching fresh hot beverages and restocking the hot foods etc. We were thoroughly looked after during our stay and every member of staff were very helpful and polite. Thank you to all at The White Lion Hotel for making our stay so memorable. Colette & Ed

One of the best pubs/restaurants around. From the Breakfast with Santa to the Easter Egg hunt, and the lovely beer garden even the kids can enjoy. Highly recommend the food. Great staff that are attentive and friendly. Carlsberg don't do pubs......;-)

We have just had a wonderful overnight stay at The White Lion Hotel, Weston. There is a large Car Park with a wheelchair accessible ramp, the rooms were excellent & beautifully decorated. The Staff were very helpful & professional. We were a large party of 16 (one wheelchair) & had a nice large table. Meals were excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone. We will definitely be returning. Thanks to all.

First time Dave Dee Discos had entertained at The White Lion, We arrived super early, so had a short wait on our hands before we could get into the venue to set up. Rhys (The manager) was super helpful, very friendly and even provided drinks. The venue has great parking and easy access, for entertainers, it is also quite unique as it can accommodate entertainment both inside and out, Great venue for small events and meetings keep up the good work guy's and thank you for the hospitality

This is a Fantastic beautiful venue. The main bar and bar snug/lounge, are lovely in the older part of the building, then walking round into the restaurant it becomes very modern with a great mix of seating areas and sofas. The back of the building has a very large patio area all under large heated umbrella's as well as a small outside bar and then also has a large garden grassed area with lots more outside benches,it could easily seat over 100 people comfortably, it's a fantastic area for outside seating and eating. Then there are also 2 decking area's near the large sets of patio type back doors. There are also 2 function rooms, so this venue has everything you need for,say a birthday or wedding etc including a stage area for a band. As well as the venue the food is fantastic too, and they have some great beers on draft as well as the usual wine and spirits available. I also have to give a huge thank you to the staff who looked after our large family over the weekend, the staff were brilliant and worked so hard and went out of they're way to please our family stay of all ages from 3yr olds to pensioners. The staff looked after 60 of us over the weekend and we're absolutely brilliant. Thank you the white lion, it was an absolute pleasure staying at your fantastic venue 🙏🏻🙏🏻
