Five
of
us
booked
for
Christmas
lunch
following
excellent
recommendations
from
family
who
had
attended
the
previous
Christmas.
The
cost
per
person
was
£82.50,
and
although
this
goes
some
way
to
staff
having
to
work
the
day,
the
food
should
be
up
to
some
standard.
However,
upon
arrival,
we
were
eventually
given
a
third
of
a
glass
of
warm,
flat
prosecco
each,
which
had
been
poured
already
and
was
waiting
for
all
parties
arriving.
I
questioned
this,
and
our
waiter
did
top
our
glasses
up
with
much
nicer
fizz.
The
potted
shrimp
starter
was
basically
tiny
prawns
solidified
in
butter,
and
those
who
had
ordered
it
said
the
look
and
texture
resembled
worms...
the
soup
tasted
nice
but
was
served
lukewarm,
which
was
disappointing.
The
mains
had
a
good
amount
of
meat
with
them
but
it
was
shocking
that
the
only
accompaniments
were
x1
roast
potato,
x1
carrot,
x1
parsnip,
x3
sprouts,
a
small
spoon
of
red
cabbage
and
a
round
of
stuffing
the
size
of
a
50p
each!!!
I
think
the
restaurant
had
tried
to
mask
this
by
serving
our
food
on
child
sized
plates.
The
desserts
were
just
OK...
the
food
was
so
poor
that
I
was
embarrassed
to
even
take
a
photo
of
it
to
share
with
other
family
members
as
we
usually
do.
We
were
actually
still
hungry
when
we
arrived
home,
which
is
not
what
you'd
expect
for
the
price
we
paid
plus
additional
drinks
purchased
on
the
day!!!
In
hindsight,
we
perhaps
should
have
complained
on
the
day,
but
staff
seemed
so
overstretched
it
didn't
seem
right.
Moreover,
we
were
out
celebrating
our
christmas
engagement
with
family
who
had
also
booked
this
on
our
behalf,
and
so
we
didn't
want
to
embarrass
them
or
put
a
dampner
on
our
news.
It
is
such
a
shame
as
when
we
have
visited
this
restaurant
previously,
the
food
has
been
great.
I'm
not
sure
we'll
return
after
this
shocking
experience
😳
