There are positive sides but my experience is rather negative. Indoor common areas are nice despite small. Outdoor areas are not well maintained. Worn or broken furniture and torn towels. There are two pools suitable for the kids but not for swimming. If you want to go to the beach you need to go to a public beach next to the hotel which is always crowded. We stayed in two rooms of different categories. Both had basics but one should not expect more than that. House keeping could not help the very strong bad smell from the bathroom or to clean the tails and bathroom furniture that should have been replaced long ago. Restaurant and food are OK. No one cares about the hotel rules. There were Russians drinking all day at the pool area despite the information board that this is strictly forbidden. There we Russians in the rooms next to ours. They were drinking and talking loudly and shouting every night till very late on the lawn in front of our rooms. Despite I went to reception every night asking to take care of that, the parties continued for 7 days. The usual reply was: please, talk to the manager tomorrow. So, I had to talk to the manager at 9 am the next day. At 2 pm we were moved to another room. The staff is not able to solve problems. At the check out four people at the reception could not explain us why the bill they presented us is for a different amount that the one confirmed by Booking. We had to wait 40 mins till a manager comes. I would not describe the staff as friendly, or welcoming, or efficient. Their attitude and approach is miles away from those of the staff of other hotels in Sri Lanka. I would not recommend this hotel.

Bang for buck. Lovely hotel, staff, and location with room for improvement. Liked - 1. The staff were fabulous and friendly from the minute we arrived till we departed. Not a single long face. They were all smiles and very service oriented. Special shout out to chef Manoj,waiter Rashan and receptionist Akila. 2. Great ocean view. The beach is literally at your doorstep, and most rooms have a great view. 3. The food and variety are above average, but after about 2 days, you might want to venture out. 4. Great pool with a connected baby pool. Needs to improve - 1. Facilities like bathroom showers and toilet seats are a bit old and rusted in some places. Could do with a revamp. 2. There is not much variety with the t.v channels, too.

Had the pleasure of staying at Coral Sands for 4-5 days. From the first phone call to arrange the booking the service was genuinely one that showed they cared and wanted the best for their guests. My expectations was initially low, but from the point of arrival every single area exceeded my mediocre expectations. Stayed in a Double Deluxe room which was clean, functional equipped with all you need, very comfy bed, beautiful balcony area with a stunning view! Every single member of staff from security guards, pool attendants, catering staff, bar staff was nothing but friendly, warm and sincere in wanting to ensure you stay and service was to a high standard. The food was delicious and fresh and I simply cannot fault anything and was ultimately great value. This hotel like many others have really struggled over the last few years with Covid and the economic slump, but they are not comprising on what they aim to deliver to their guests. I will absolutely return again and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone be it single, couples or families...OH and the POOL! is gorgeous too! It's a 3 star hotel, go with that expectation and you will be pleasantly surprised. I have stayed at many 5 stars hotels with a service level that would be eclipsed by the staff at Coral Sands. Well done to all the resilient staff here!

It was a worst experience i ever had in this hotel, from the room service to specialy food were sucked...even buffet were very limited and having very few trays though having decent crowd..worst and dirty part they do Is that i have personaly noticed they serve pork items mix up with other famouse food like prawn/ sausages as most of them love to enjoy those type of food when they come to a hotel buffet...but they purposely did to avoid consuming much as served prawn/ sausages in the same pork grill which stop most of them like muslim to enjoy their food freely...knowing that they are very concern at that point, paying 20k for double sharing and enjoying the food with hesitation which is not nice...moreover having few buffet options with these kind of dirty technics literaly we had nothing to eat ..totaly dissapointed and wate of money...not recommended at all...sucks ...

20+k for double half board, everything was poor from the room to the food. The buffet is empty by halftime and the food is not good, no range of selection, the room AC was not working. My worst experience in a hotel.

Very attractive scenery that attracts foreigners as well as locals. Rooms could have been improved for modern style as they seem to be out of fashioned style. Overall, it is a decent place for a stay.

This is a very beautiful hotel. The view is so mesmerizing. I come here a lot for work stays. The beach view is perfect and the hotel management is super friendly. Love this place. Everyone should come and visit here once to see the environment.

The view is amazing and being able to go out and jump in the water is fantastic! Some very persistent tourist sellers just outside the hotel that are allowed to talk to you when you are on hotel grounds over the fence can be a bit much. Prices in the bar and restaurant are quite expensive. Rooms are fine. Lots of noisy russians.

It’s a good place to have a relaxing vacation. I have booked 4 rooms and one of the room was giving a bad smell like molds. And another room had key locking issue. Overall it’s a good place. Live kitchen food was much better than the buffet. Staff was really friendly and promising when it comes to their duty.

he hotel itself is beautiful, with well-maintained grounds and stunning ocean views. My room was spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and modern amenities. I particularly enjoyed the balcony where I could relax and enjoy the sea breeze.

We spent one night there.. got a sea view room and the view in the morning was amazing. Had a nice beach experience. They have well maintained 2 swimming pools. Food was ok. Rooms need to be improved. staff were very friendly. They have badminton, table tennis, pool playing areas. By paying addition money we had the coral watching experience..

Such a beautiful hotel with nice staff. We had a great time. The BBQ dinner is superb and the kids enjoyed the kids corner on Children's day. Overall all good.

Our second visit here.Very friendly staff, especially the restaurant manager Mr dhammika made us feel homely while having food with his little chats. Mr sumith (he helped in all small needs) our car was broken on the way to the hotel and he went to the car park got the help of a threeweel guy who to us to a garage. Everything was good, rooms were clean. Barbecue dinner buffet was great. We fed the fish in the beach. Please don't get deceived by the snorkeling people outside. They are very expensive and the ones very closer to the hotel don't show you much corals. If you are really interested talk the terms beforehand. Also the reception of the hotel should be more friendly and helpful.they were not very genuine in their hospitality. Dr Sampath pathirana and family.

My experience at coral sand was nothing but great! Starting from the door man to the amazing team in the reception who made our stay super memorable by helping us through it all such as the safari tour, sight seeing and alot more! The pool was super clean with a beach view and access Super grateful for the experience and cant wait to be back

Unfriendly staff. They were about to charge us for an extra breakfast, because we just woke up different time, hence had a breakfast separately

The hotel is old, to expensive, the staff is nice but the rules of the hotel are bored, there is not much to do, Pool close early, bar close early, billard close early. You can find better hotels around here, in better price.

Rooms are good. Very close to the beach. Dinner and breakfast are buffet. Good atmosphere. Toilets need to be upgraded. Overall good.

Very beautiful place and very reasonable price . View is absolutely amazing 😻. But I have totally disappointed with their foods and buffet. They mentioned buffet time 2 Hours .but when you go to buffet after 30,45 minutes almost foods were finished and most of the dishes not available and they were not filling those items . I don’t know why? All 3 meals had same salad items . Some Foods was very tasty and but they not filling those items . Very reasonable crowds on that day and I think they have to do more for their customers. Staff members bit olds and not very friendly. But I have to mentioned that again very beautiful place and view . Very good foreign crowds also there. Hope they will improve the Food and beverage section also .

The hotel is not bad but you can see that it has not invested a lot during the recent years to keep the infrastructure up to date. The location is superb with a nice swimming pool very close to the sea. The food is average. The main disadvantage is the smell of petrol outside, on the beach and sometimes in the rooms. (due to the many boats that are leaking petrol in the sea in front of the hotel).

A really bad experience with Golden Sands Hotel. Hair in the bathroom when we checked in and stained towels. We were forced to pay for a Christmas dinner with the room, which was literally as much as the room rent, and the food was completely inedible, not one thing was good, ordered drinks and had to return them that’s how bad they were, there was hair in the pineapple and the guy cutting the pineapple was annoyed when my wife asked for another piece which btw also had a hair on it. Never coming again.
