Simply the best sushi you will get for the price in Wichita. You can’t go wrong here and the lunch specials are beyond awesome! I eat here very often and am always inviting friends. I’ve been to literally every other sushi restaurant in town and I can tell you that although many other have very good sushi also and in some cases even better I will tell you that none of them can beat the value here. Great sushi for great prices!

I ordered a spicy salmon roll, shrimp yakisoba, house salad and miso soup was included. The food was spoiled and for this genre of cuisine you need to be aware that this isn't a question of that discovery. Spoiled, expired, rotting. Let's get right to it. The spicy salmon sushi roll was inspected first. As I opened the lid it was the very overwhelming, musky odor. The salmon inside the roll was the texture of pulpy newspaper creating a minced type of filling. The seaweed was not sushi grade and the rice? Just a paste. Using the guidelines it is not just expired as the fish filling is definitely spoiled and due to the texture and very obvious sort of mucus/filmy/slime... the smell is a very reliable way to send the meal back, speak with the manager, owner and you as a consumer have the right to let the public know exactly what danger you were exposed to, document it, use the guidelines and do not allow a public restaurant get away with just a bad review. Bad food and expired, spoiled food and yes if the last two are blatant then would rotting food move you to being appalled. I could say negligence? We can clearly can see, smell and taste. I am obligated to file a full detailed report on what I was served, the condition of the food, details of the guidelines used to determine the approximate expired, spoiled, rotting time frame. The restaurant was closed when I called. If this was a bad fish on one dish, I would not be as alarmed and shocked. So the other: shrimp yakisoba, miso and two house salads. I opened the lid and I gagged, the thick almost jellied, sticky, slime. I swallowed the sour and milky texture building in my my mouth from the unmistakable stench. If you are being met with aggression, humiliation, any Nonsense? I pick up the shrimp and I just bite. It was the sickening pop of expired shrimp meat and I couldn't swallow the stringy texture of rotting meat that was not freshly made. So I paid 50 bucks for spoiled food. It was about an hour before closing. What other measures am I responsible? It depends on how much spoiled food, the type of food and if you ate the whole thing but one bite? Go to the ER. It's not joke. Don't go to bed angry. Yes no one wants to deal with restaurant negligence but how would you feel if there was a similar if not exact experience had posted just a few hours prior to you browsing the reviews?

Really good sushi spot. The food is fresh and the staff is relatively nice. The food can add up in price but what sushi place doesn't. My kiddos were happy with the food and the dessert. We will make are way back again.

This is the only restaurant where I will order hibachi from! I love getting the hibachi steak here and the dipping sauce compliments the vegetables and steak very well. On this occasion, I also ordered takoyaki and a spider roll. I just happened to be extra hungry today. The hibachi steak is a meal in and of itself. They give you a salad and soup prior to the entree which is very pleasant. I really like the atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff are very friendly. Pro tip: it can get chilly in there sometimes so bring a light jacket if you don’t enjoy the breeze.

Excellent Japanese restaurant. Friendly and welcoming staff. Very clean and modern. Great selection of various sushi and Japanese hibachi and other meals. Sept 2022 - same great rating! The vegetable hibachi is very good. Great salad and soup along with it!

The food quality and portions have went down. I use to love this place and I would go every Sunday. Not so much anymore, I ordered yellow tuna sushi rolls and they were room temperature. I could barely swallow one and didn't eat the rest because it was almost warm sushi. when i had mentioned it to the server she asked if I wanted something else and I replied no. so she brings me my bill and of course I had to pay for the room temp sushi I never ate. I definitely won't be going back.

Tried this place for the first time and was very impressed. Went on a Monday and they happened to have specials that were very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and efficient but not pushy in any way. The restaurant was very clean and the space is designed quite nicely. I'll be returning for sure! I tried the Mars roll and it was great. I look forward to trying all of the other offerings. I tried a plum wine sake mix (I believe called a Sayanara) and it was excellent.

Tokyo Japanese Cuisine didn’t not disappoint! Nice, very clean facility, and friendly prompt service were apparent when walking in. Large menu with options for Sushi lovers and non sushi alike. Solid food, huge cuts of sashimi, excellent flavors. Next time your looking for sushi on the west side, give this one a try!

Can't go wrong with any dish. Hibachi chicken was great although it could have used less sauce. Same deal with the steak dinner. Both came with soup and salad. Sushi surprised me with the large portion and it is well worth the price.

Review: Tokyo Japan Restaurant on West Street, Wichita, KS I recently dined at Tokyo Japan Restaurant on West Street in Wichita, KS, and I have mixed feelings about my experience. The restaurant offers a variety of Japanese cuisine, including sushi, soups, and steak, but there were some areas that fell short. Starting with the soup, it was served warm, but I found that it lacked some flavors that I was expecting. As someone who enjoys bold and rich flavors in soups, I was a bit disappointed with the taste. The sushi, on the other hand, was good despite falling apart. The presentation was visually appealing, and the taste was enjoyable. However, I did notice that some of the sushi rolls were not tightly rolled and tended to fall apart when picked up with chopsticks, which was a bit inconvenient. Moving on to the seating, I was seated in one of the booths, but I found that the seats were worn-out and uncomfortable. The cushions were flattened, and it detracted from the overall comfort of the dining experience. One highlight of the meal was the steak my wife ordered, which was cooked medium rare. She thoroughly enjoyed it and mentioned that it was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful flavor. This was one of the highlights of our meal. Unfortunately, the service was lacking in some areas. We did not receive any refills for our drinks, which was disappointing and left us feeling a bit neglected. In terms of the ambiance, the restaurant had a casual and relaxed atmosphere with Japanese-themed decor, but the worn-out seating did affect the overall impression. In conclusion, my experience at Tokyo Japan Restaurant on West Street in Wichita, KS had some ups and downs. While the sushi was good, the soup lacked flavors, the seating was worn-out, and the service was not up to par. However, the steak was a standout dish, cooked to perfection. If improvements are made in the areas of flavor, seating, and service, it could enhance the overall dining experience at this restaurant.

We absolutely love this place. It's our go-to Japanese restaurant for incredible sushi in a relaxed atmosphere with great service. If you haven't been yet, give them a try Sun–Tues for unbelievable deals on a huge variety of rolls AND 2-for-1 sake! Many great non-sushi choices on their menu as well, so there's something for everyone. ~Highly recommend~
