A great little lake with excellent fishing and good swimming spots. The dam is great for sunset walks along the lake. There are a couple parking areas and a playground for the whole family to enjoy.

This was a nice place to visit with our kids! Very quiet and peaceful! There was an easy walking trail next to the visitors center that went down to a viewing area and then back up to the parking lot. We were disappointed that the visitor's center is currently closed due to covid-19.

Nice shelter with plenty of tables. Shelter is lit with flourescent bulbs and ceiling fans. Large enough for most family reunions and big enough that two or three families could use it at the same time and still have some privacy, Bathrooms were the only drawback. They were not clean or well stocked.

I love this lake. Fishing is good. You can go on a lake with a boat. Kayak Canoe water dingy pool noodle pretty much anything you want. Gas or electric, it doesn't matter fish all day and all night the water is clear and warm . So, if these posts helped you and decided . Give this a thumbs up

My boys thought it was cool to drive over the dam. On the other side is a trail if you want to hike. And you can access the lake for kayaks, fishing and swimming. It is big and roomy, plenty of space to do the social distancing that is suggested right now. The water was dirty and the bottom of the lake was grassy but my boys had a good time. We saw a couple families of geese, they came up on the shore where we were to eat. This was the only access point that was open today, probably due to the Governor's executive orders.

If you want to see a beautiful sunset, without having to go that far from Wilkesboro, this place is the best in the area. I have always loved this place, not only because of what it means to me personally, but because it has beautiful views and many fun things like the playground for the children, hiking, a quiet walk with your family or a bike ride.

Have had a few fun trips there. Great mtb and lots of space to kayak. Although on the weekends there is a ton of boat traffic so don't expect a smooth lake for kayaking. If you go on the weekdays early it is much less busy.

beautiful lake with views of the mountains in the background. great for kayaking and paddle boarding with some little creek offshoots to explore. we caught some fish here which was fun for the kids. plenty of swim beaches with playgrounds which the kids also enjoyed. impressive dam adds to the interest. three fantastic mountain biking trails around the lake, which you can link and ride together if you have the energy. multiple RV and tent camping locations.

This is a great place for a quiet and enjoyable time on the lake. With easy boat ramp launching, and parking big enough for a Chevy 2500 Crew cab and a 24' trailer, you can get on the water quickly and maximize your mini vacation!

We really enjoyed the small museum inside of the visitors center. The kids got to pick out a gift from the shop and the staff were highly helpful when asked questions in regards to the wildlife management areas surrounding the lake as well as other recreational areas. Great views and great outdoor activities.
