Fantastic lake! Real beautiful sunset and lots of cool attractions to see all around the lake. Fern Clyfe is a must if you're around the area and while you're at it venture to Bell Smith Springs and I guarantee you'll thank me and friend request me later if you haven't been there before. This is a must go to place to venture to during fall. All of the trees with beautiful fall colors setting in, the perfect temperatures for campfires and the beautiful people in around this area is the cherry 🍒 on top;

Very disappointed people r confused drove from herrin 2 the lake 2 different occasions went 2 pyramid marina asked if we could fish they said yes went back a second time stopped 2 get 4 dozen minnows asked if there's any public access she said u have 2 pay $5 2 fish pyramid marina on top of it I went inside the bar 2 pay & the bartender said there's no public access or fishing what's the real awnser

This is a gorgeous spot with deep water, excellent nippy fish, and beautiful houses to gawk at as you cruise the area. However, as we were visitors with kayaks, we found the lake pretty crowded with boats and obnoxious jet skiers who were not always conscientious of swimmers and other watercraft. The lake is big enough that most groups were able to secure a spot for their activities, just be aware if you're operating non-motorized vessels.

Heavily populated lake with the small town rural feel and peace and quiet of a private lake. 91 miles of shoreline and great fishing.

Really Good Fishing lake and sometimes good for pulling tubes / wakeboards! Also an awesome swimming lake. But on weekends it’s very crowded!

The water is just the right temp for a dip and the fish are biting.

Beautiful warm lake, with lots of coves for bobbing about, eagles, osprey, deer sightings abound. Nice marinas to launch at, lot of nice homes for rent. The southeast portion abuts the Shawnee national forest. Go to the website and check the lake rules if you’re into watersports. For example, water skiing is only in the north west “wide” section. Wake surfing not permitted. Max 20 ft hull, 28ft pontoon (this part seems loosely enforced if you’re not being a jerk?). Warm lake water - between 84 and 90° in August while we were there. Excellent for cruising around and floating in coves, prob good fishing too.

Very disappointed if you don't have a boat went to the marina the first time and let us fish second time I asked if I could fish I said I had to pay $5 at the marina I went to Marina they said no you can't picture so not very happy

Went to Jaws on the lake. If you want a genuine experience, I dare ya to show up. It's Jaws! On the lake!

This is really one of the best lakes in Illinois!
