Horrible service, horrible “pao de queijo”, dreadful hot chocolate, dry croissant , and terrible everything. The “pao de queijo” was extremely doughy and tasted like pure cassava starch. The croissant I won’t even comment as it is not a real croissant. Doesn’t have the buttery taste or flakiness. The hot chocolate tasted like water and to finalize, the service was terrible. Would never return. Not sure why this places has customers.

Worth Trying. Ample seating area, cakes and sweets and savoury. This review only focuses on the savoury. They're all really good and at a reasonable $1.99 price. My favorite is the meat and fish. The prawn I'm on the fence about - they tried a white sauce on the inside which is too goopy. The shrimp is also too small, they would do better to try diced/shrimp paste instead. The Portuguese tart is really good. Flaky and sweet but not too sweet. Takes AMEX. $10+ pp.

Had the chance to taste some quick snacks. Real nice. They have a variety of items to choose from. Lots of pastry options as well. All authentic Brazilian. Love the patties.

The bakery's updated with more seating and a hot table. It's a reliable go-to when in the neighborhood but today I tried the veal sandwich, and let's say that I'll continue going to that famous place on Claremont St for veal. The bakery goods though are terrific!

The place is big and nice. They offer different sweet and salty treats. Very good prices and friendly staff. A big dissapointing thing today was the lack of attention to the dirty tables. There were at least 7 tables full of dirty dishes, crums, leftover of food, dirty napkins. They were not within the rush time or understaff they just didnt care about this. Many new customers could not take tables because there was nobody cleaning them even though they saw them. Anyways.

Very cute local bakery shop. My friends took me here and I got to try the bun with cream inside. It was AMAZING! I've never experienced something like this but I enjoyed it so much. It kind of reminds me of Asian pastry but a bit heavier and sweeter. Definitely recommend to give it a try.

This is probably the best Portuguse bakery in the city to get traditional custard tarts or 'natas' they also have a huge selection of desserts (standouts are the sweet cheese tarts) and freshly baked bread that you can bring to side counter and have them make a sandwich. There is also a large selection of Portuguese beverages and fairly decent coffee. Cash is probably best for quick service but they do take debit/credit for purchases over $10 if I'm not mistaken. Dec. 2022 Update: the bakery is now called Brockton Village Bakery as it is now under the ownership of a new generation (of the same family). There have been updates to the physical space and POS system as well as new offerings including a hot table (coming soon!) - you still can’t go wrong with the food and pastries!

I see many good reviews for this place so I tried it. This is my most honest and unbiased review. I tried several cakes here and didn’t find them that great compared to other shops. Advice - please mix vanilla essence in plain and pound cakes, they taste too plain.

If you want to have a piece of Brazil just come to this place. They have a very good selection of pastries including the famous Brazilian cheese bread (that you can also buy to make at home). The staff is amazing, they are always in good mood and ready to help (they also speak Portuguese which is nice). Whenever I can I start my day there. P.s.: Waitress Gabi and Julia are the best, ask for them when you are there!

I have ordered food here 2 times. First time the desserts tasted like nothing and croissants had a dead body flavor - and I really mean it - but everything else was ok. I decided to give a new chance and now almost everything tastes like rotten dead, croissants and sandwiches. Desserts taste like nothing and are clearly days old. I’m never ordering here again and recommend you the same

The baked goods are killer, the seating area is spacious, and the coffee is top notch. If you’re looking to have a treat, catch-up with some friends, or get cracking on that manuscript, this is a well worth stop.

Very bad. I tried 4 items, 2 of which are non-edible and went straight to garbage, and the rest are definitely days old. You guys should either check the fridge to see if it needs cleaning, or should try to bake less so the produce stays fresh. Literally every item has a flavor of a fridge. Very disappointed.

This is a very interesting option if you want to experience a similar atmosphere to a traditional Brazilian bakery where you can eat at the counter and try a good continental breakfast The menu, however, is not very traditional with items you’d find in a Brazilian bakery, and it’s more of a mix of Brazilian, Portuguese and north American (which is nice, but there could be more Brazilian items such as pão na chapa, tapioca, pão de queijo, sonho etc). The waiters are very nice, but it took them almost 30 minutes to get my order because I ordered at the table with the QR code only to later find out that their system was not working. My advice to management is: stick to the traditional pen and paper to take your orders. The place is small and people who go there to eat expect the human connection with your nice staff.

Been a long time since I've been here, and even thoughbthe name and interior has changed, same friendly people, same familiar smell, same delicious Natas (Portuguese custard pastry).

Love this bakery. They literally have everything and the staff is so nice. We love the bake goods section especially the cannoli’s and the deep fried shrimp. Sadly I tried the veal sandwich recently because the picture looked good and it was really dry and lacked sauce (see the photo). So that’s the only thing I wouldn’t recommend.

Food is good. Baked goods are good. I found some of the staff to be impolite, not all of them. Particularly a staff member working at the sandwich stand could do better

This is the worse bakery to order from. I ordered two pastries and both were store bought! Why would I order from bakery if I wanted to eat store bought plus it was expired or for some reason a Black Forest back tasted very sour and weird! and not to mention damaged packaging. Not willing to give any stars it’s terrible spoilt a friend’s birthday! But have to be able to post this comment!

This place makes some very good sweets. Their canolis are better than in most italian bakeries!! Wow. However when it comes to sandwiches or pizza ? Well it's not there, for me anyway.

Brazilian and Portuguese snacks and pastries. The menu has a good variety of beverages to choose from. I want to try a sandwich next time. Friendly staff. They speak Portuguese too. I ordered pastel de nata, bola de Belem “sonho”, donut and a fan of Guaraná. There are some trios of baked goods on sale. I’m going to try them too! Prices are fair.

I was there on the 17th of July with my two siblings for a quick snack. My sister ordered some shrimp risoles and codfish pastel, we asked to warm it up and the cashier told us to wait at the table. We waited, and waited... and nothing. My sister went to check what was going on and their excuse was that the kitchen didn't get our order. Then the risoles and pastels came and one was missing, again we had to complain, and when I was about to bite one... it was cold! It was never warmed up. So again we had to complain! The staff didn't seem to care. You need to train your staff better bc costumer service is essential for your business to run successfully. I should not have to leave the table to tell them what to do. The food was good, but everything else sucked!

Extremely bad experience. Honestly speaking and from the bottom of my heart, I am really afraid of men with coloured nails so I asked his co-worker at a far end from the service counter if my food and drinks could be prepared and served by another server. I didn’t say anything to that server that I’m afraid of at all. When me and my father an almost 80 year old man we were having our coffee, that server with coloured nails came to our table and harassed us by yelling loudly to us if we didn’t want him to serve us, don’t come next time. Customers at another nearby table looked at us. We felt very bad and upset. Me and my father will never come again. I addressed this issue to the coffee attendant in the cafe area before we left and he said he would address this issue to the manager. This was a very unacceptable attitude and bad service from a server. I would never recommend anyone to go to any restaurant that supports such behaviour.

Great spot to go in Toronto every time I’m missing Brazil, they have Brazilian and Portuguese itens. Former Brazil Bakery, they renovated the space, sandwiches are amazing, I love the steak one, you can add different toppings on it. Donuts are better than other great known restaurants chains, pastries are really good, custard tart is my favourite. For my last birthday I ordered a strawberry and white chocolate cake, everyone loved it and asked me about the place I bought it. I really recommend this place to my friends, staff and service are amazing. The owners are in this industry for a while, and they have great expertise in what they are doing.

The only brazilian thing in the restaurant was the name and a couple of guarana cans. Pastries and sanduíche were good but if I’m going to a “brazilian bakery “ I expect to find at least a few brazilian snacks but there was nothing. Disappointed

It's always a pleasant experience to have something at Brazil. A typical Portuguese sandwich is a breakfast sandwich made with São Jorge cheese but even though they sell it over the counter, they won't make a sandwich with it. That's my only disappointment

  • 4/5 Mitch R. 5 years ago on Google
Great desserts and food with plenty of seating. Parking can be difficult as in this area the meter maids love going crazy as they tend to do in ethnic neighbourhoods. Yay government thanks for finding us off ! Now as for the pastries I'm sorry but they're simply not the best as many other Portuguese bakeries have much better offerings. They do offer a great selection though with the obligatory great espressos that so many of us love for a price of around $2.00. So all in all a good deal but if you truly want to experience Portuguese pastries go elsewhere...

Brazil cakes brought a bit of the Brazilian culture to our life here in canada. My boyfriend is Brazilian and he enjoys a lot the salgadinhos. Last year, the fiesta orders were perfect. This year, unfortunately, we have experienced two orders that were not as satisfactory. It’s been two times that they forget to write the message on the cake and the cake is smaller than before. In addition, it was sweeter than other occasions. Some salgadinhos were amazing but they mistakenly gave us some wrong ones. Vanessa is nice. It would be good if, when they make a mistake, they offered some sort of discount or refund, as an apology does not make up for it. 110 dollars for 40 salgadinhos and a small cake is a lot.

Discovered this gem of a bakery lately. What amazing food. Tried their fresh Almond croissant & Strawberry cheesecake was out of this world. Their fresh sourdough bread is good too.

Had a grilled chicken salad with an extra of bacon (keto). The chicken was served a bit burned. On the positive side the portion was really generous. The waitress was nice but they worked slowly. By the time I got the food the chicken was cold.

I don't support a business where the owner disrespect the employees. I visited the bakery in a busy day, and I didn't have any problem, I ordered a chicken sandwich it was well served but while I was waiting my order I noticed one weird behaviour behind the bar, a man yelling and saying bad words for a woman, after I figured out he is the owner. She was really uncomfortable with that situation and I felt sorry for her, because she was smiling and serving everyone in a good mood. Honestly we are in the 21st century, and there are better ways to treat the employees, because of that I won't come back to this place.

👍👍 I love this place. My go-to place for groceries. It's always busy, sells fresh produce, and has a variety of items. Two added bonuses are - it has a small Joe Fresh outlet inside, and a Starbucks. So if you feel like taking a quick grab and sit enjoying your coffee, there's a seating place upstairs....
