Really bad experience ever. Manger and stuffs try to hide the facts and lie to client. We brought a ferret (12th night) but they didn’t disclose it has deformity teeth. when I find it and try to call them to solve this problem today noon( 14th), the manager said it is my problem due to this and try to dodge the column（I had the phone call recorder). And when I bring the ferret to store, all salesperson not listened what I am try to say and all of girls talking none stop try to let me know it is my fault and telling me that is totally healthy and nothing they want do. The ferret is only 7 weeks and the teeth is like the picture, and they still telling me there is nothing influenced with health. Excuse me????? I am so disappointed this is the way they try to use. There is no client will pay their money and times to buy problem. Ridiculous store and stuffs.

I have reported Big Al's Aquarium & Pet Supercentres (1295 Kennedy Rd, Scarborough, ON M1P 2L4) to the Toronto Humane Society. The staff — who could not care less about helping customers, let alone about the welfare of the animals — allows the animals to be picked up and roughly handled, even though there are signs clearly stating not to pick up the animals! The animals are stressed out by the customers banging on their cage, reaching in an touching them, or as one of picture shows, being picked up. If you truly care about animal welfare you will avoid giving Big Al's Aquarium & Pet Supercentres your business.

I've been a loyal customer at Big Al's for a while now, purchasing fish tanks, accessories, fish, and even dog toys from their store. I can honestly say that I've never had a bad experience here. Today, I decided to drop by while passing through the area, just to do a bit of window shopping. During my visit, I once again marveled at the shark tank and the wide variety of fish they have for sale. The staff's commitment to maintaining clean tanks is truly commendable. What made this visit particularly enjoyable was the chance to interact with the ferrets and engage in conversation with the parrots. It was a unique experience that added a delightful twist to my usual visits.

Drove quite a distance to visit this location for the first time and was very disappointed with the care of all the small pets. The fish basement was wonderful and really exceeded my expectations with lots of variety for both marine and freshwater tanks, but the upstairs left me very upset. I think there are way more animals than they can keep up with and it shows. Many reptile enclosures that had animals in them also had mold, stagnant old water, food bowls were full of dried and cracked old food covered in mold. One of the frogs for sale was even deceased and appeared to be for a long time. Hamster wheels were the mesh ones which are widely known to cause bumble foot and other issues. I am genuinely concerned for many of the pets there and would strongly advise the store to drastically cut down on how many pets you have. I think there should really be an investigation into the care and health of the animals. It’s obvious that they take the cheap way out and don’t have the animals best interest in mind, even when they are for sale. I would never buy a pet from this store and would advise others not to either.

4.5 star actually :) Amazing place. Amazing stuff and amazing collection of fish. Good: Went there for the first time and loved this place already. A lots of verity of fishtank and fishes. You will get everything about pets here. Dogs, cats, reptiles , birds etc. They have a underground aquarium with many kinds of fish. Staffs are knowledgeable about the stuff. Not so good: Felt the space is bit small. It's difficult to walk in the store sometimes. Some of the items are priced higher I think. Overall a good place to go , if you are having a pet or planning to get one.

Staff is so nice and helpful. They have small animals and lots of fish! They have a shark tank and they feed him every Tuesday. They have lots of supplies for small animals and fish. Only downside is less product for cats and dogs; they used to have more options. However, they do have different options for cat trees compared to the big chain pet stores.

What an amazing place! Lots of species of any kind. Beautiful setup. I would even compare it to the Toronto Aquarium, but the benefit of a free entrance and absence of crowds.

I got myself this guy. And some toys. The staff was very friendly and they spoke with genuin care. Would recommend to come here.

This location have fish, replies and birds. On the main floor there is a selection of reptiles and birds. The basement has all of their aquariums, a large selection of freshwater and saltwater fish. Although there are many fish tanks, there is not a large variety of fish, mostly the same type of fish. Parking a bit tight. Employees are nice and knowledgeable.

Love this place! All my pet needs are met, from feeders for our fish, to food for my rats, recently bought this Rat here and everyone was so happy to see her leave to a good home! Made me proud to take her home, we will be back... we're always back!

Big Al's Aquarium is my go to Aquarium store. The employees there are very kind and welcoming, and if you have any questions anytime they will answer it immediately. The variety of fish they have over there is always a sight to see. On top of Aquarium fish, Big Al's also has a great variety of fish and other pets. The guinea pigs were my favourite. Great store!

Best place if you want to buy fishes for your aquarium. I bought a betta fish. He is healthy and active all the time

Great place for pet purchase. Very good collection. Very appealing and well displayed. The only lagging was that some staff were too busy talking among themselves, but still deserves 5 stars.

We had an excellent experience with Dillon (the real gem in this whole process) - he took the time over many visits to discuss and educate my youngest son while picking his first pet. The choice to get a snake was not our first, but Dillon was amazing and explained everything we needed to know to make the right choice... And we did. Christmas came early for this little guy and we couldn't be happier. Thank you Dillon

Had to go here for curbside pick up during covid. Professionals with safety and with the selections they made on my behalf. I got some cherry shrimp and m/f guppies. I especially liked the female guppies they chose because they gave me a cool variety of colors. Blue, red and yellow and speckled. I hope to mate so that gives me a nice genepool. Thanks again and would definitely recommend a visit here. Used to catch me on a Tuesday watching shark feedings..--happy customer

Big Al's is the best place to get a pet fish. The options are endless from Beta, Goldfish, or certain specific parts. They also have plants. Seawater fish and corals. If you need to design or an Aquarium it is there also. They actually also have none aquatic plants if you wanna take a look at them. Been going here for years.. A lot better than your pet smart.

The cages were not cleaned at all. There were feces all over the ferret cages, as well as the bunnies. The birds were in incredibly small cages. Most cages had little to no food, and dirty water. The animals were clawing on the cages, and many looked famished. There were dead fish that sunk to the bottom of the tanks, and the stringrays had very little space.

Pros: I saw them on YouTube and the guys were very knowledgeable, so I decided to take a look They have a huge selection of fish in the basement. Very knowledgeable staff that will make sure you're not going to mess things up and over buy. Cons: not really anything, maybe the prices aren't that cheap. Overall: large selection of all types of pet stuff, but their main draw is the fish. So definitely worth a stop if you're planning to get yourself a fish tank, and need some help.

During my recent visit to Big Al's, I had a largely positive experience, particularly with the overall ambiance and the staff's friendliness. The basement area, where I spent most of my time, had a welcoming and comfortable vibe. The staff members were attentive and helpful, contributing to a pleasant experience. Their prompt service and courteous manner were noteworthy and added to the overall enjoyment of my visit. However, there was an aspect of my visit that I found quite unprofessional and discomforting. I observed a blonde-haired staff member in the basement area engaging in overly familiar and intimate behavior with another worker. This included hugging and kissing, which I felt was inappropriate and unprofessional in a workplace setting, especially in view of customers. While the setting and most of the staff were commendable for their friendliness and efficiency, the conduct of these two individuals was a downside to an otherwise enjoyable visit. I believe addressing this issue could enhance the overall customer experience at Big Al's.

Such an interesting store! They have so many varieties of fish (even a shark) and birds. They also have small animals like hamsters, bunnies, and guinea pigs. Very cute!

We got our lovely girl Ash here! Super helpful staff! Aliyah was amazing and very knowledgable!!! She is so patient and kind! And she really cares for those animals .

The workers are very friendly, helpful. There is two floors bottom floor is where the fishes are and top floor where animals are. Does not have a wheelchair accessible to the bottom floor or elevator that can take you downstairs to see the fishes thats the only down fall.

I visited the local aquarium and pet store, and it was great! The store had a good selection of animals and everything was well-maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my time there and would recommend it to others.

Great store overall. Knowledgeable staff (i know nothing about aquascaping and they were able to help me find the right tools and material). Great products in store. Reasonable and competitive prices. I recommend checking out their fish area and their birds area (opposite sides of the shop). They are lacking in products for dogs and cats though, but i believe it to be more of a space issue as the birds and fish take up quite a large part of the shop. They also have a nice reptile area.

Was there yesterday to purchase some fishes. The store is beautiful, and have a variety of fishes, reptiles, birds and others. I have to say, the young lady in the fish department has no form.of customer service. The new staff who started yesterday was more pleasant than the rest. Great place, but poor customer service in the fish department. The girl at cash was very nice. Thanks for being pleasant when cashing out.

Great store with many fish and better prices than other Big Al's that I've visited (Vaughan & Mississauga). Staff are also very knowledgeable. They have a 5 days warranty policy on fish so if you change your mind or if something happens to the fish within 5 days, bring it back and they'll give you a store credit. I've brought back some pleco I bought. They also have a very big selection of guppies of all kinds. So if guppies are you flavour, check out this Big Al's.

They've got a lot of products for different pets from birds to dogs. Downstairs you'll find the fish tanks which are a great display! They've got some small pets too like birds upstairs and provide great customer service.

Always have a great selection of freshwater tropical fish and plants (they look to have great saltwater too but I only do freshwater). I've been going to this location specifically for over a decade. Tonnes of supplies and accessories and competitive prices. Many of the team have been there for a long time and are super knowledgeable. If it's your first time and it's a busy day, grab a clipboard and start looking around, write down your picks and wait near the counter by the turtle pond. Someone will help you out when they finish with their current customer. Parking can be a tad tricky on busy days. Check out the pics of Donnie Whalburger our Bristle Nose Pleco, got him as a baby from Big Al's 3.5 years ago, he is a Great Grandfather with generations in his tank and that has lead to the expansion to 2 other tanks. :)

I love this place! Hands down the best chain in Ontario for fishkeeping needs. Reliable staff, quality products, and healthy livestock. They also carry goods for other small animals.

This review is based on my partner and I experience purchasing a rabbit from this store. We bought a very sweet dwarf rabbit from this location, we noticed it was sneezing even at the petstore but thought nothing of it until arriving home. Over the week, the sneezing progressively got worse followed by white discharge . Having looked up the symptoms, it appeared to be snuffles virus. According to the store's 7 day health guarantee, we made the tough decision to bring him back, not because we are iresponsible and not willing to take him to a vet, but because from day 1 , we received a sick rabbit and there is a health guarantee. We explained to the store clerk everything that happened and what we did ( changed bedding to 3 different alternatives, removed bedding entirely with no improvement). One of the storeclerks got extremely defensive about us bringing him back and insulted by saying we should never own a pet in the future, crumbling her paper in her hand and storming off. Instead of honoring the store health policy , she shamed us in the middle of the store. The in store credit we received, doesn't mean a thing to us. The disrespect and embarrassment we received is enough for us to never return. We love animals and are responsible owners, but to shame someone for following the store's policy is disgraceful.

Love to come here for new fish n products,love to see the shark in the big tanks. The turtles nd koi fish's in the pond is also nice

Great selection in stuff. Name brand stuff that is, that cost a arm and a leg. Fish are mostly all deathly besides the saltwater section. They don’t sell medication 💊 for fish so , what the point in buying a fish from them? There staff are teenagers that mostly have no clue what I am talking about , but trained enough to sell you everything on the shelf 😂 other than that, source your stuff elsewhere for lower costs. Mom and pop stores could really Help considering there is a few in the area. Hire real keepers and front door salesmen !!!

Love this place!! My dad used to take me and my family here all the time to look around! Although we never bought anything there it was just a fun experience to see all these cute little animals, reptiles, and fishes. :)

Lots of great Aquarium stuff, also small animals like birds and rodents. Fantastic displays and lots of deco so you can set up your own, whether fresh or saltwater. I love seeing the coral, and the shark is awesome.

We recently got our hoppy little friend from this location. The girl I initially spoke to on the phone as well as the girl who helped us pick our new little friend were friendly, very helpful, and knowledgeable. This location also has a large amount of other small animals, reptiles, birds, corals, fish (obviously), and even a small black tip reef shark in the big tank in the basement. Staff have always been friendly, and the selection has always been great.

I now have 2 aquarium full of beautiful water babies. Their fishes are healthy, nothing to worry about. I bought 5 fishes originally, I now have over 40, cause two ladies had babies.

Wide variety of fish and other domestic pets, lovely aquarium, prices seem reasonable, for a new aquarium owner I think I got the best advice from one of the guys who work there.

From what I saw when I was in Big Al's they seem to meet standard pet store needs, such as dog and cat merchandise, while excelling in specialty pet items most pet stores don't carry. This includes fish based supplies, bird items and reptile equipment. The staff also seem more knowledgeable about pet requirements than standard pet stores. They carry a number of pets for sale that are also difficult to find elsewhere.

Our first time at Big Al's and it was absolutely, a wonderful experience. It's huge and very clean. Many products to choose from and staff are so amazing, knowledgeable and friendly. They had a variety of different species and small animals. All very beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions, we will definitely be back. Fabulous place.

Good quality of fish here at this Kennedy location. They are healthy and seem to be quarantined before selling to the public. This is definitely my one-stop-shop for all of my aquarium needs. Not a good experience when coming around 1pm on Friday as all of the employees seem to be busy doing water changes and talking with each other and not giving you much attention.

Large with lots of variety of stuff. There are a number of land and aquatic animals to look at. The basement is like its own little aquarium and even has a shark. The prices are good. It is a fun experience just to look around.

Great variety of aquatic life, birds and reptiles. Service can be quite slow during busy times but staff are very friendly and know a great deal about aquatic life. Also they have a small shark which is so cool you should check it out!

They don’t know anything about animals, they told me that my bunny is a female and gave adult rabbit food. However it’s a male and had to take her to the vet the very next week. But I’m glad my baby is doing great and I love him so much. Please do betterBig A’I.
