Have wanted to come to the Watercress Line for ages and glad I did. It's been lovely seeing all the old trains puffing away, the Line is clean and beautiful, staff are polite and the stations are lovely. Being able to get on and off at each of the stations is also a nice touch. The carriages are lovely with great views through the countryside. On a side note, we stayed at watercress ledge camp site and it was nice listening to the trains being made ready in the morning.

Got the train from Alresford to Alton, stopping at Ropely, plenty of time to get refreshments from the kiosk , lots of tables to sit at & admire the view across the Hampshire country side. You look down on the trains where you can get some good photos of the engines. A lovely relaxing afternoon.

Our family always enjoy a trip on the Watercress Line! We have done the special Thomas event and been on the regular train several times, as well as the vintage bus and mini-railway. The stations and trains are so well-kept and the volunteers are exceptionally friendly and helpful and seem passionate about what they do. It's an amazing day out for kids and our little ones are always thrilled when we visit. We will be back again soon, I'm sure!

Nice day out with our grandson, weather was a bit miserable, and had to catch the train from the Alton end, as they had the Watercress Festival on in Alresford, the train also didn't travel all the way to Alresford which was a shame, as I think it would have made the train busier, but also allowed people who booked from Alton end enjoy the festival as well. Staff at all the stations were friendly and knowledgeable. You can book tickets in advance which I highly recommend as it will save you money. Also check their website for events as this can impact. Looking to take our grandson back on Queens Jubilee weekend as they will have all things Thomas the tank engine going on.

Really good day during wizarding week. Should have looked at the timetable rather than the ticket though as ticket said 9am but train did not depart until 10:45. Luckily, there was a nice cafe at Alton Station. Trains are beautifully kept and you really feel like you are transported back in time. All the volunteers along the line are happy and very friendly. My daughter loved it! Only the public let it down. We saw so many people just leave their rubbish on the train. It's not hard to pick it up and take it with you. Stop being lazy and entitled! Would 100% go on the watercress line again

We went on the steam illumination’s for a family outing, well worth it. Parking is a bit tight so try to get there about 10 mins before it departs. The train is stunning when you see it all lit up both inside and out. My pictures don’t do it justice. You can get coffee etc at both Alresford and Alton. Booked seats only, which is good as you are guaranteed seats. The kids love it (big and small),there are lights along the track side also, a new experience for most of us and surprisingly very enjoyable.

We went yesterday for my sons 25th Birthday. I asked the guard if he could possibly wish him a happy birthday over the pa system. Well.....Michael Ball, you made his day and ours. Singing to him, it was excellent. Thank you so much. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Thank you all.

The Christmas magical illumination train was amazing. I was worried it wouldn't be worth the money but people were fantastic. The train and the ride was amazing. Myself and my little boy absolutely loved it! Don't get off the train in Alresford unless you want your boy to spend all your money in the gift shop! Again the two ladies that served us were friendly and lovely. We really enjoyed ourselves. Cant wait to come back for Thomas in the summer

Great day out the railway feels authentic and the staff obviously enjoy their roles. Sadly through a lack of volunteers there was no buffet at Ropley station, where most of the visitor experience are, there is a good viewing area for carriage restoration and a small playground.

Fantastic day out for my Father in law's 88th birthday. All staff very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. One of our party uses a mobility scooter, was able to access most areas. Railway staff assisted us with a ramp to help us take our member on and off the train.

First visit to Watercress Line for their October Gala. Brilliant experience. Stations are brilliant and Engine Shed at Ropley really looks as though it’s always been there.

We came for fun on the line 1939, brought my parents as its there era and there was nothing happening apart from 1 dressed up person on each station. If this is more for children then please state this on your website. A bit of music on the train and more fun is definitely needed. The light up train event back in December was brilliant but I am left disappointed today. 😞

Lovely day out. The volunteer staff are super friendly and helpful and genuinely add to the enjoyable experience. We travelled on the King Alfred Climber and did an extended stop at Ropley for lunch and a wonder round the engine yard. There is also a small but train themed kids playground at Ropley which is also worth a visit. Only downside really was the miniature railway wasn’t running.

Superbly run heritage steam railway running through delightful Hampshire countryside. The stations are colourful with hanging baskets. The locomotives and carriages are pristinely turned out, as are the staff.

Great diesel event and the line possess some of the best gradients I've ever experienced on a preserved railway, so even the Type 4s got a bit a work out, not that much mind. Staff are fantastic and the railway restored to a high standard. Would be a great day out for families too with plenty to see and beautiful countryside views.

This is a great day out for all ages. The railway has been kept in a beautiful condition thanks the the very passionate and knowledgeable volunteers. It was lovely to see the pride they take in what they are doing. The train stops at some lovely little villages so you can have a leisurely day exploring.

The whole experience was brilliant, the watercress members made the afternoon a real step back in time. They were pleasant, happy to help people. The grandchildren loved the trip seeing the engines being worked on playing on the train climbing frames and seeing Thomas the train engine in the sidings. All in all a great time.

Brilliant day out on the Watercress Line. Top class preserved steam and diesel railway. Friendly staff and a beautiful scenic ride through the Hampshire countryside.

Went on the Christmas lights steam train. Excellent. Great atmospheric night due to light rain adding to the steam, noise and lighting inside and outside the train! It creates its own light show as it goes along. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Even let us get on the footplate with the driver before setting off. It was not too busy so we may have been just lucky they had the time for us to do that. Recommend. Go and enjoy!

Had a quick look around the station, didn't go on the train itself as we'd hadn't planned too but would certainly come back and take a trip on the line.

Lovely visit today and despite low staff numbers due to reasons beyond their control, the staff were helpful and informative. Special mention to the chap at Alresford tea rooms on the station who was an absolutely top chap and brilliant advert for the line

My parents, a friend & I went on the RAT (Real Ale Train) for my Dad's 70th. We had an excellent time. They had a good selection of locals beers to choose from. I loved seeing the Steam Train and the excellent views of the area from the train. 🙂🍻🚂

Purchased ticked gbp22 in a designated carriage. The carriage booth had a family in it so the guard gave me a booth to myself. Thanks. Well run set up with friendly volunteers.

We came here for the Steam Illuminations and it was absolutely wonderful! The lit up carriages looked amazing, they were comfortable inside, the Christmas music was great, the high tea boxes that were prepared for us were delicious and a huge effort had gone in to making them. A really wonderful festive steam experience!

Nice day out. More guidance would be appreciated. Had a impression staff take for granted that everyone knows what to do( boarding, ticket collection etc.). It would nice touch if actually someone walks around a train and check tickets - just personal though. Overall great day out.

I am not a railway buff. I was accompanying friends who are and they had a great time. The museum seems to consist mainly of photos and serial plates with a few bits of other railway paraphernalia thrown in. Definitely for enthusiasts only in my opinion. The station is well kept and looks the part and there are good vantage points for photography. Unfortunately they only had diesels running due to the fire risks posed by the hot weather which had rendered the fields tinder dry. You can go for a train ride and, although we didn't, it did seem a popular choice for visitors. I have deducted a star for the attitude of the gift shop staff. We needed change for the car park but were told that we had to buy something to get change. Any desire I had to spend money there instantly evaporated. Not the best way to ensure repeat custom folks.
