A perfect place for a summer day trip. The castle is very nicely situated in a beautiful town and is well worth a visit. The castle is surrounded by different lakes and beautiful gardens. There is also an open theater.

From the outside, an enchanting castle. Take the time to go around it by the gardens, views were magical. Inside, you will be able to visit 3 floors in total: 2 are dedicated to the rooms of the castle in itself, with some objects and art pieces exhibited. The throne room is particularly impressive. Last floor in another aisle is dedicated to temporary exhibitions. We saw paintings from Netherlands and porcelain mostly. 8.50 for adults to enter, it's worth it if you like castles and have some time, but you already get most of it from the outside.

Amazing place, has a big park around it. Looks gorgeous. There is a parking lot near it. You can walk around the castle in 20-30 minutes, and if you walk through the whole park it will take an hour. Tickets are around 10€ but you can actually see everything without them, they are for the museum inside. You can get to the inside garden for free through the main gate. There is free toilet inside and right outside the back door where they sell tickets. The castle is fabulous from all sides.

A very beautiful castle and is worth a visit. Visitors can walk around the castle grounds for free. The castle is well maintained and so are the lawns, gardens and fountains. Expect to spend at least half a day or more as the grounds are huge.

A very beautiful castle. The architecture amazes with its beauty, colors, abundance of sculptures and galleries. The castle makes an indelible impression. It's a pity that I couldn't go to the museum inside the palace. I hope to come and see again. The castle is worth it.

Schwerin Castle is one of the most beautiful castles in Germany. Its fairy-tale style really makes an impression. If you want to know more about the castle, check out the museum and learn more about its history. The admission cost 8,50 euro, it is worth the price. If you don't have time or not into a museum, then have a walk in the garden. It's beautiful there, and you can see this gorgeous castle from all different angles.

Incredibly beautiful castle steeped in history. Walk the gardens or take a tour of the museum and enjoy the numerous beautifully decorated rooms. A must see when in Schwerin!

Beautiful place. Really well kept castle, its clearly often renovated to keep in a perfect condition. The castle and the surrounding gardens have a really unique atmosphere, no matter the time of the year. You can almost forget that it's XXI century and feel like you went back in time.

A spectacular castle in the town of Schwerin, a marvelloua day out, we took a day trip from Hamburg so we had all day to wonder the castle and grounds, we even spent a little time in the town after, plenty to keep you occupied. The Castle itself is a functioning council chamber of sorts, so a lot is off limits, a bustling place of workers and tourists. The adult tickets inside the museum are around €8.50 and you can tour the museums art and history, and get to explore a small area internally. The grounds and gardens are free and really make the day, at least for myself. It does get busy if your not early. While you can explore the immediate castle grounds, walking a little further around the expansion is very rewarding, especially if you like pictures. Facilities are good, there is a castle shop, multiple toilets and a restaurant, seemingly quite upmarket and £££ but you can stop for a coffee and cake or even a few beers if seating available. Plenty to learn and marvel at. Take yourself to Schloss Schwerin.

Lovely inside, 24 restored rooms to see for only 6 euro for adults, kids free. They are hosting a concert serious in the castle courtyard through October. Absolutely lovely outside. Gardens are absolutely beautiful, grotto is fun, and the lake is so lovely to stroll around or hang out n the grass for a bit.

✅It is admission free to walk around the Schloss Schwerin Burggarten and the bigger Garden, that has a fantastic view and really nice to wander. ✅Well-maintained attraction. ✅It’s better to go 9am, few people are there and you can take good photos. ✅a lot of shops nearby. ✅Family- and Kid-Friendly place 😊

An extremely interesting castle located on the island. The number of towers is simply amazing, they look light and harmoniously fit into the ensemble of the castle, the surrounding garden, sculptures and landscape design. Entrance to the castle costs 8.5 euros. Inside you will see several very interesting rooms, including the throne room. This castle is worth a visit!

We came on a Saturday. It wasn't too crowded, we did not wait in line for tickets (end of april). We paid in cash. We parked a few blocks away and walked over. The museum is in part art exhibits and, in the second part, presents the rooms of the castle as they originally were. The throne room is the last exhibit, and it is a sight to see. Many signs were also in English. Surrounding the castle is the lake and gardens, which is beautiful and free. There are perfect photo opportunities here. The restaurant menu only really had dessert dishes, so we found a place nearby for lunch. Would highly recommend!!

A wonderful castle to visit. The castle itself is mesmerizing and there is also a great park near it to spend your time there. You can visit the museum inside the castle for around 8 euro tickets but the surrounding area and park are free.

Beautiful castle as well as the castle garden. Schwerin sea (lake) looks absolutely breathtaking from the castle. Museum is also very well kept. Lots of information if interested in history. We bought Audioguide at the reception. They had Christmas market inside castle too! And there is a restaurant inside castle itself to grab quick lunch.

Total schönes Schloss mit Garten Aussicht und Natur. Wirklich imponierend.

Absolutely dazzling!!! I was not expecting such beautiful place, the castle is totally gorgeous and the garden leaves nothing to wish either. The town is very beautiful too and don't forget to look down to your feet, there's little metal plates with the stars of Draco constellation!

Also known as the "Neuschwanstein of the North", this palace impresses with its grandeur. It is also the seat of the parliament of the state. The garden and park nearby is a must see and offers a beautiful view of the lake. As the case is in a small island, going around it offers different views of the castle and the surrounding areas. Highly recommended to visit.

A beautiful Castle and a must-visit. You must reserve at least half a day for this place while planning the tour. The English audio guide is also available at the counter. I recommend it if you are unaware about the history of this place. The gardenas around the castle are huge and beautiful. You must reserve some time for having a good time there. All the restaurants are near the lake which is at the walkable distance from the castle.

Beautiful castle overlooking the large lake. The architecture of the building itself is more than impressive and the surrounding estate is beautiful. This place is straight out of a fantasy, not like any other castle I've seen yet. Definitely worth a visit, even though it is a bit out of the way from most tourists cities.

What a treat to tour the Schwerin Castle! It was really neat to walk through the castle and learn of it's history. The woodworking in the castle is phenomenal - from the parquet floors to the intricate carvings of animals to the built-in library book cases. I loved seeing the opulent throne room and the family trees that people would walk through before they met with the Grand Dukes and Duchesses. We also enjoyed exploring the gardens.

Due to the Corona situation, we had to wait 2 hrs to get into the museum because they would only let in 50 people inside. When people came out they would let the same number in. Each room was closely regulated how many people could be in a room. Some parts closed off. The self-tour lasted 20-30 minutes. It was a pretty and decorative palace and the entrace price was very reasonable. Parking close by and also reasonably priced.

  • 4/5 Sander M. 3 years ago on Google
2 floors inside the castle are available for the public. Allow 1 hour for the unguided tour. Adult fee €6. Open at 10. There's a max nr of people allowed inside the castle due to covid19. When 2 go out, 2 can go in. Then you know how fast the queue moves.

Schwerin Castle, is a schloss located in the city of Schwerin, the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state, Germany. It is situated on an island in the city's main lake, Lake Schwerin. For centuries the castle was the home of the dukes and grand dukes of Mecklenburg and later Mecklenburg-Schwerin.

  • 5/5 TheSensuallady25 3 years ago on Google
Also keine Touristen Falle.

There are castles and then there is the Schwerin Castle. Truly beautiful with lots of easy to reach (friendly for all age groups) routes. No climbing up a hill, no taking feeder buses to reach it. It's a gem for history fans and gives a good glimpse of Hanseatic era. The tour of the gardens, orangery will refresh your soul. The lake view from the top of the castle is magnificent. Keep a full day for exploring it if you like to take pictures, enjoy the view. We downloaded the Instawalk available from the Tourist Info and were amazed at the viewpoints suggested by it.

Beautiful castle with lovely gardens. Tickets 8.50 euros. Musicians playing near the gate which adds to the ambience. A lot of people's appeared in traditional clothes. Some fest is going on at this time, lots of food stalls, activities for kids etc. Boat rides available on the lake.

Das ist wunderbar! The schwerin castle is unbelievable beautiful! It is so big, aesthetic, and majestic! I feel like in the Disneyland. The traffic light is so cute, it’s kinda different because near of the Schloss / Castle. We can go inside the castle for free, you can either go to the backyard of the castle and find a calm lake. enjoy the sound of ducks and birds. You can also go upstairs and go to the restaurant. You can find some merchandise or souvenirs there as a postcard, keychain, books, anything. You can also go inside and see the large field of the castle. I really love the place and recommend the place! 🥰🫶🏻
