My husband and I stayed at Sourwood in August of last year for one night as a layover to where we going. We fell in love with it. The view from our bed was nothing short of spectacular. The picture attached isn't the best lighting but that is dawn from MY BED! I didn't get anything after that before I was just enjoying the moment. I was very disappointed to see that the inn has been taken over by what looks like a large company and they have doubled the prices. I thought we had more time to plan our return trip. I truly think this was the best place to stay in Ashville. Unfortunately with their prices we won't be visiting again. My stay then was a 5 star however I can't rate that with how disappointed I am in the Sourwood Inn has become.

Wonderful place, wonderful staff, amazing food, beautiful nature! I had only 3 days/4 nights there with my Serenity package, and I confirm that the name says it all! Thank you all!

Amazing Ayurvedic Healing retreat! The Sourwood Inn was sold in 2022 and is now a healing retreat center. I treated myself for my 50th birthday to the shorter Serenity Retreat as a gift. Highlights: 1.) Close to Asheville - only 20 Min drive into the mountains on the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. 2.) Food is inclusive and the Chef, Michael and his team are incredible. I’d give the food a 9 out of 10. It’s Ayurvedic good, vegan, and beautiful. Sometimes I wanted more vegetables with each meal. They are generous and will offer seconds and more. There is always a fresh pot of kitchari (healthy vegetarian rice/lentil stew) available should you get hungry. 3.) The location is stunning, surrounded by old forests, hiking trails and nature sounds. The first night I arrived it was after dark and sounded like a “nature sounds track’. 4.) The lodge and accommodations are beautiful. Each room has a fire place, a balcony with a view, and a gorgeous bathroom. The bedding is super cozy. 5.) The retreat offers morning yoga and an evening activity such a forest bathing and sound baths. 6.) Everyone that works here is so down to earth. I want to move to Asheville! 7.) Packages come with Ayurvedic massage (two therapists work at the same time!) and shirodhara (warm oil on the head to calm the mind. Check out their website. 8.) The library is amazing full of spiritual and healing books. 9.) There is peaceful music playing in the lobby that is just divine! Ask for the Spotify playlist. Downsides: 1.) It’s a bit pricey, which means not everyone can afford to stay, but it truly is worth every penny.

Hello all, I wrote this, attempting to capture my experience at the retreat. Perhaps I came closer than I had hoped, but of course only grazed the nail, as opposed to hitting it on the head. SoHum There is a reverence that hangs above this place, a thick, silent kindness that shields the sick and tired from the dis-eases of body/mind. It felt as if the sole purpose of these SoHum healers was to build a raft for me to float upon, to gather my strength for the ascent back to health. Servants of the master, they worked, tireless, skillful, dedicated, desiring to help, attentive to our every need, selfless, stable as the mountains that surrounded us, the holy syllables SoHum cascading from their minds and hearts, these, clear-souled warriors of the G)O)(O)D Work. Namaste, Andrew Marcus

I love everything about SoHum Mountain Healing Resort. The location is spectacular, truly a gem in the Elk Mountains. My room was perfect with a fireplace and a bathtub sitting right under the window with a view of the mountains. The treatments were amazing, very well trained ayurvedic specialists, the food was just right, and I was made to feel incredibly welcome. I did not want to leave but I will be back!

From the moment I arrived for my panchakarma week I was lovingly held and surrounded with love and exquisite attention. There is such a tenderness here. Everyone with whom I interacted lead with Love and softness. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The food was delicious and you can feel the love Chef Michael and his team put into it. The therapists are amazing. Having daily check-ins with a practitioner was so helpful for me. Such a nurturing and nourishing place. Looking forward to being back in the Spring. 🙏💗

We had an amazing Pancha Karma and Rest & Renewal time at the SoHum Mountain Healing Resort, This hidden gem is nestled in the lush forests of Elk Mountain, near Asheville. Founded by a team of Ayurvedic Practitioners and guided by the esteemed Dr. Lad (who has also established a new school and clinic in Asheville), the resort has been lovingly crafted and cared for. We were pleasantly surprised by the culinary creativity at SoHum! The chef goes above and beyond, not only serving delicious Kitchari, but also delighting us with Ayurvedic-inspired menus that feature fresh herbs, incredible sauces, and artistic presentations that rival a la carte de Paris. In addition to the gourmet meals, we indulged in our daily "Whole Body Serenity" routine. We also had the privilege of seeing Dr. Lad and receiving his advice. We had daily check-ups with a warm and caring Ayurvedic Practitioner, and enjoyed experiencing the caring treatments. We treasured the daily rituals, the Sunrise Agnihotra, a beautiful fire ceremony infused with herbs and intentions, daily practices of Pranayama, Yoga sessions, enlightening lectures on living wisdom and nutrition, invigorating Forest Bathing, calming winding-down rituals, and chanting. What truly made our stay exceptional was the genuine care, support, and authenticity exuded by everyone at SoHum Resort. We have formed beautiful connections and gained new friends along this transformative journey.

I had an excellent experience at SoHum. All of the massage therapists were excellent. The consultation with Dr Lad was wonderful. The Ayurvedic practitioners I saw every day were so knowledgeable and very caring and helpful. The resort itself is terrific as well - very well run - the beds and bedding were very comfortable and I had a beautiful view from my room. I greatly enjoyed going for walks on the trail that is on the property. Most importantly, I feel that I made significant progress healing my health issues. The after visit support is also excellent and I greatly enjoyed the healing and educational programs that were offered. I highly recommend SoHum!

I had an incredible journey at SoHum. Every aspect of the panchakarma program was fine tuned. All the guidance, education, as well as every therapist, practitioner, chef, front desk personnel, and housekeeping staff member were stellar. I felt so supported and genuinely cared for. Not to mention the property and grounds are upscale and serene! Thank you, all - every one of you are such beautiful spirits. When word catches on, I know that Sohum is going to be internationally acclaimed as an authentic true place of deep healing.

A warm, dedicated attitude with great attention to my every need exuded from everyone at the SoHum Team, from the medical direction to the management, to the knowledgeable, caring Panchakarma practitioners who treated me, and to the Ayurvedic Panchakarma chefs, Michael and Liz, who made delicious healthy meals! My deepest thanks go to Sandy, who helped me in many ways from the time I made a reservation months earlier, and with great clarity informed the SoHum Team of my special needs. Up to the last, I was not even sure whether I would be able to attend due to limitations caused by a car accident just before Covid… My gratitude also goes to my brilliant and caring Ayurvedic Panchakarma practitioner, Alex, and to Sanghita, whose name is true to her vocation, who was there for me from the very first moment I arrived at SoHum. Carrie too, was there for me, many a time. And there were others too... It is thanks to the synergy of all at the SoHum Team, that my stay at the SoHum Mountain Healing Resort allowed me to relax deeply and to reap optimal benefits from the healing Panchakarma treatments, diet and overall support so generously offered.

The location and facilities are beautiful and people are wonderful! Really really good place to unwind and connect with yourself. Even more attractive is the science of Ayurveda and PK. It finally revealed the root causes for some issues I was trying to manage.

I am forever grateful to the amazing staff at Sohum , who provided a memorable experience filled with healing, love and compassion. The treatments were amazing as is the beauty, Nature, and the food. The daily check-in‘s with a skilled practitioner were essential to the entire comprehensive well planned daily activities. Everything from the Yoga, Pranayama, meditation, sound healing, and time spent on the beautiful nature trails, contributed to relaxing, healing experience. I recommend this place to anyone looking to rest, relax and rejuvenate, and have long lasting support and results from the Ayurveda perspective, which I have found to be perfect for me.

Sourwood Inn is amazing! My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in May. The architectural style and design is smart. The views are gorgeous year around! The food is locally sourced and fresh and delicious! The breakfast is really great and changes a bit daily. The afternoon reception for new guests and current guests is a really nice treat. Always healthy choices. Dinner is only on the weekends….a bit expensive for us…but we ate there every night and really enjoyed the meals. You can even eat outside on the patio if you like. They have lovely sitting areas all around the property both inside and outside. The property is like 100 acres on the ridge of a mountain. Gorgeous!! They have several trails on their property. My husband enjoyed those. I personally just wanted to rest and read….so I primarily read on my rooms balcony. Lovely view. I also curled up in one of their leather chairs in the main room one day enjoying an Iced Tea and petting the hosts dog - Stella. If you want privacy or a chat with other guests…you can find that. They have a game room with a large TV with you want less quiet. 😃 We booked a massage in our room ahead of time and that was amazing! All of the staff members are friendly and helpful. The hosts were always available and ready to help. We enjoyed a fire in our room every night. If you aren’t used to making your own fire - don’t worry! They provide a fire kit and directions. Super easy. The second floor has the best views but there are stairs. So we chose first floor room. We still loved our view just fine. We have actually already booked another weekend for our Anniversary later this year. This place is amazing! You’ll be glad you came.

First trip after a long down time of no travel, what a place to start traveling again. Amazing involved owners and staff, they were available and informative. Beautiful inn that puts relaxation first. Trails on the 100 acres the inn sits on were beautiful. Breakfast that is included was amazing, sitting on the balcony overlooking the valley. We had dinner at the inn both nights we were there and it was a wonderful experience, my wife found her new fave wine.

Charming inn located in a convenient location to the Blue Ridge Parkway -snuggled into 100 wooded acres of fabulous views and quiet spaces! We adored the wood burning fireplace in our room that was all prepared for our use. AND- the amazing breakfast buffets that varied every day in the most creative ways! The staff is friendly and you must book dinner - make plans to stay a few nights!

We spent half our honeymoon at Sourwood and it was lovely! We enjoyed being up in the mountains with beautiful views, hiking trails, and quiet after a hectic wedding weekend! Our room was comfortable and the personal touches were much appreciated (fresh flowers, cream in the fridge, chocolate bar, etc at check in). The food was amazing (you don’t HAVE to leave the inn at all if you don’t want to!) from buffet breakfasts, afternoon snacks, and tasty/creative dinners. One morning we were leaving before the buffet started and we had a great “sack lunch” breakfast made up for us! We would definitely go back given the opportunity. Thanks for a great time!

This was hands down one of the best getaways WE HAVE EVER HAD! Hospitality from beginning to end, the beds and rooms were heavenly! The walking trails, scenic privacy and environment was inspiring and beautifully cared for….and then there is the FOOD & WINE! We left a few pounds heavier but completely satisfied and can’t wait to come back for another stay. Thank you to Connie and Proal, Chef Casey and Crystal for making our stay perfect! (Fair heads up to the readers; the driveway down to the inn seems daunting, take it nice and easy :) it’s WORTH it!) ❤️🌲🌱🍄🌷

Loved our recent stay at the Sourwood. In a beautiful setting, it is completely calm and quiet - the perfect getaway. Afternoon snacks are generous and yummy, and we loved both the breakfasts and dinners. A special shoutout for an incredibly comfy bed with luxurious sheets and wonderful, absorbent towels. Definitely worth a visit, and once you’ve been there, you’ll want to return.

The Sourwood Inn was an absolute delight. The room was immaculate and luxuriously cozy with an array of comfortable amenities. My favorite was my daily bath in the trees and enjoying the wood burning fireplace. The private balcony was a treat to step out onto and enjoy star gazing on clear nights and bird song. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The food and drink was spot on. Delicious and prepared with love and care. The inn itself is a stunningly designed craftsman style with plenty of porch and indoor space to relax in true comfort. The "forest bathing" opportunities are robust with the 100 acres of mature canopy to explore on foot. Loved the seclusion on the mountain just a hop from downtown Asheville. What a treat, I will be back!

My husband and I spent two nights at the Sourwwod Inn recently. I must say what I was most excited about was not having to be in the kitchen for two days. The food was delicious and nutritious. There were even greens for breakfast. The Inn is beautiful, quiet and inviting, the staff, kind and helpful. We loved the rocking chairs on the porch. I recommend the the Sourwood for anyone wanting a relaxed weekend with every amenity.

I had a wonderful stay at Sourwood Inn. It’s a beautiful lodge on heavily wooded grounds. The hiking paths on the property are easy, and well maintained. The Inn itself has a spectacular view of the mountains in the distance and the Sourwood trees on the property itself. As someone still somewhat concerned about COVID transmission, it was really easy to maintain access to outside space on the patio off the dining room, the porch with the spectacular view of the mountains, or the balcony of my own room accessed by the French doors. Downtown Asheville is easily accessible, but I was so comfortable on the property I stayed for dinner every night. The food was great and the wine list is outstanding. All-in all, I had a really great vacation.

What a magical experience it was to stay at the Sourwood Inn. The drive to get there along the Blue Ridge Parkway was beautiful and the easy drive to town was so convenient. The Innkeepers are a lovely couple and the staff was so helpful, My room was fabulous with a deep soaking tub, fireplace ready to light, a private balcony with chairs to sit out amongst nature and a desk for my laptop and checking my email. Breakfast each day was delicious! Couldn't have asked for a better get away.

We stayed in the cottage maybe 5 years ago, and recently in the inn. Both trips thoroughly relaxing and beautiful. We enjoyed all the high-quality welcome wine & cheese, room gifts and toiletries, great linens, spacious rooms, gorgeous architecture, and the cool, shady quiet of the location. Supper on the terrace is a treat, which is good since it’s a bit of a drive to eat anywhere else.. but no reason to! Breakfast on the porch equally plentiful and relaxing. On our short hike on the surrounding loop trail we spotted a bear cub and its mama — everyone keeping a safe distance of course! We hope to return .. annually if possible!
