Years
ago,
the
glue
broke
on
my
bonded
retainer
and
there
was
a
slight
shifting
in
the
teeth
that
Dr.
Wagner
and
I
addressed
it
together,
deciding
it
was
so
minor
it
wasn’t
worth
taking
drastic
measures
to
fix.
I
recently
went
to
Dr.
Bhat
to
have
the
glue
checked
as
she
took
over
the
practice
from
Dr.
Wagner
upon
his
retirement.
From
the
get-go,
everything
was
disorganized,
contradictory,
confusing,
and
upsetting.
I
waited
10-15
minutes
after
I
checked
myself
in
as
there
was
no
one
at
the
front
desk
or
in
the
lobby.
All
of
the
staff
were
unorganized
--
we
had
to
take
photos
multiple
times
because
of
missing
SD
card,
using
wrong
camera
etc.--
which
added
another
30+
minutes
before
I
got
to
see
Dr.
Bhat.
Dr.
Bhat
looked
at
the
pictures
and
told
the
staff
to
remove
my
bonded
retainer
and
that
I
needed
Invisalign
(Quoted
$4000)
since
my
teeth
are
so
crooked.
When
I
asked
about
this
she
said
we
don’t
have
to,
my
teeth
aren’t
really
crooked,
and
“Look,
my
teeth
are
more
crooked
than
yours!”.
Dr.
Bhat
said
she
could
adjust
my
night
retainer—as
she
had
done
once
before
(it
hasn’t
sat
right
since)--
&
I
would
need
to
wear
it
22/7.
I
reminded
her
that
I
did
so
previously
on
her
recommendation.
She
then
told
me
I
was
supposed
to
come
in
for
a
one
month
follow
up
after
that
appointment.
I
was
never
advised
to
do
so.
She
then
added
that
I
would
need
to
wear
the
retainer
22/7
for
6-8
months
but
that
it
probably
wouldn’t
do
anything
&
suggested
that
I
wasn’t
wearing
them
as
advised
since
my
teeth
had
gone
crooked.
I
told
her
I
wear
my
retainers
every
night,
but
it’s
clear
she
didn’t
believe
me.
I
asked
her
to
check
my
chart
to
see
why
Doctor
Wagner
had
advised
that
I
have
a
permanent
retainer,
&
to
refresh
herself
on
why
the
teeth
had
shifted
(glue
break
some
years
ago).
She
did
not.
I
asked
to
have
a
new
retainer
made
as
my
old
one
has
yellowed
with
age
which
would
be
embarrassing
to
wear
during
the
day
instead
of
just
at
night
as
I
have
done.
She
refused
unless
I
let
her
remove
the
bonded
retainer.
When
I
pressed,
she
said
no,
then
yes,
then
that
we
could
just
leave
it
in
but
she
wouldn’t
make
me
a
new
retainer,
etc.
45+
minutes
into
the
appointment
she
looked
at
my
bonded
retainer
for
the
first
time
&
advised
that
it’s
stable
and
secure,
but
"eventually"
the
glue
would
break
&
she
would
likely
not
replace
it
for
me.
When
I
went
to
leave
she
said,
"Maybe
next
time
you'll
'remember'
to
tell
me
that
you
'forgot'
to
wear
your
retainers"
or
something
along
those
lines.
I
left
feeling
like
my
teeth
were
awful,
&
so
incredibly
confused.
I
didn’t
know
if
I
needed
a
new
retainer
or
not,
needed
Invisalign
or
not,
needed
work
on
my
bonded
retainer
or
not,
needed
to
have
it
removed
or
not.
I
transferred
care
to
another
office
after
making
a
few
phone
calls
to
discuss
options
at
different
clinics.
Every
office
I
called
said
that
this
is
not
the
first
time
they’ve
heard
similar
complaints
about
Dr.
Bhat
&
her
office
&
that
this
migration
of
patients
after
Dr.
Wagner’s
retirement
is
something
they’ve
dealt
with
quite
frequently.
The
new
office
said
they
wouldn't
recommend
any
treatment
because
there’s
"less
than
1mm
of
shifting
on
a
single
tooth”,
that
this
is
“to
be
expected
w/
aging
despite
orthodontic
work
&
proper
follow
up
care"
&
“it's
so
minor
that
there
would
be
little
to
no
benefit
to
any
treatment”.
They
made
a
new
retainer
without
removing
my
bonded
retainer
&
advised
that
even
this
wasn't
necessary
as
it's
clear
I
take
good
care
of
my
appliances
&
wear
them
as
I'm
supposed
to.
I
asked
for
my
full
chart
to
be
sent
to
me
by
Dr.
Bhat’s
office.
They
sent
me
a
release
with
my
name
spelled
wrong,
multiple
emails,
calls,
etc.
only
to
tell
me
~a
week
later
my
old
records
were
shredded
after
7
years
(per
HIPAA
rules).
UPDATE:
After
reading
this
review,
Dr.
Bhat
called
me
and
offered
to
do
Invisalign
"on
the
house"
to
"make
it
up
to
me".
I've
had
two
orthodontists
I
trust
implicitly
tell
me
no
treatment
is
necessary
or
recommended.
Even
if
treatment
was
necessary,
I
would
not
return
to
this
clinic.
