Excellent place for views and walks. Nice coffee (can be slow service when busy at the restaurant). A wide range of plants and vegetables in the kitchen garden. Recommend for the price paid. Peaceful and pleasant experience.

A fantastic National Trust property on our doorstep. Having visited many times over the years and seen various rooms closed for restoration and reopened- this property never fails to disappoint. All the volunteers are extremely knowledgeable and keen to help you. Love the new rose garden.

If you love Gothic architecture a place where you can feel the Gothic era like in no other place in Europe, this is the place. If you like a nice walk among a place full of green, this is the place. A good day for a picnic, this is a place. If you love history, this is the place.

We spent a great few hours here to break up our journey down to Devon. It was a gorgeously sunny September Friday and our toddler had a lovely time exploring the gardens. She loved the little wooden park by the coffee hut (GREAT combo for parents!) and the lap around the house is perfect to stretch little legs. Continuing to prove it's worth keeping our membership every year :)

We first visited during the Covid 19 pandemic, we made our booking for our timeslot which was easy. Having not been out very much we were slightly tense as to how things would be organised but it was all fine. The place is lovely and well worth a visit. Lovely walks and gardens, perfect for a picnic. The cafe food was good, had a cream tea which we sat on the grass and enjoyed. Can't wait to return when its fully open to explore more.

One of the best examples of a Victorian gothic country home in the country. Tyntesfield is brilliant at showing off the changes made by each generation of the Gibbs family. There are also lovely walking routes around the formal gardens.

One of the best NT grounds I’ve walked around. Didn’t do the house as had a dog, but the cafe, shop and grounds were all dog friendly. Had a really lovely day and will definitely visit again.

Pretty standard national trust place, the gothic style (though not actually gothic building) was nice to see. Gardens were nice and the cafe had some good things in it We felt the prices were very high. It cost £35 for two adults and we had to pay an extra £5 for parking as well! The last time we went it only cost £22 so we won’t be back.

Possibly the most frequent National Trust site in Bristol. Lovely as usual. Love the Christmas decoration in every rooms, carol singers and “actors” in Victorian costume. 👍👍👍 This time, the men’s play room was opened and I was amazed to learn the 200 years old billiards table was water heated and electric- connected with “score board”. The human power (like Singer sewing machine) Lathe and Grinding machines. The house owner was surely serious on his toys. 🤩🤩🤩

Came to Tyntesfield just before the August bank holiday (weather was pleasant too) Great national trust site. Took my little pup for the walk around. Fantastic walking routes and the service in the shop was quick (They even sell doggy icecream which he fully enjoyed) Tyntesfield is a great day out, especially if you like walking. Great for families and dogs.

Large well maintained domain, lovely gardens and landscape. Only 4 stars because the house was closed during our visit and we were charged full price any way.

Wonderfully kept gardens and panoramic views of the surrounding area, the long trail round was nice, not too long and great for a walk with family, friends or even solo. If your viewing the main buildings and the church start at the front of house and just follow the tour round and upstairs which leads into the church. Parking is free and so to admission for national trust members, but please still scan your card at the ticket machine. Great free rackets and balls at the tennis court to play with and wonderful panoramic view. Staff are very knowledgeable and can answer alot of your questions about the property or just give you an interesting insight into its ownership and history.

Amazing place for a day out. Great way to learn about history through Gibbs family and their wealth which derived from controlling the import of Peruvian ‘guano’ fertiliser.

Great grounds and a fine example of Victorian gothic architecture. Cafes were also brilliant and the place had a warm and welcoming feel. Only issue is the lack of bins but all the cafes had some.

Attention!!!!! The last entry to the main house is 15:00! How could I miss this important information....mystery... Anyway, we could still roam around and enjoy the beautiful kitchen garden. it was well maintained and we could see a lot of colourful fresh produce. There are picnic areas too! One more thing about how to get there. We noticed on the website mentioning taking bus X9 to the bottom gate is not recommended. We did change to X6 because of this warning, but we found out if you take X9 dropping off at the Lower Lodge is also possible with a proper footpath. (See pic)

I have visited Tyntesfield several times this year to take images of the house and garden ( please note this review is of the garden and grounds only), I visited again today with the camera not expecting to get anything new but its nice to be totally wrong some times. Wow, The formal gardens at the front of the house are simply spectacular, the purple and white combination of bedding is superb. It is obviously at its best right now as the National Trust official photographer was there today taking shots, I have also included shots of the rose garden taken a few weeks ago, the arch was fabulous. I always enjoy my visit at Tyntesfield and I want to put a big "shout out" for all the staff and gardeners who do a great job and always have time to talk to me. I strongly recommend you see this formal garden now, and make sure you take your camera.

I was astonished at the entry price -£17 - but was hopeful of an interesting visit. Sadly, half the rooms were closed and the others so dark you could barely see. I was keen to see the paintings, and the highlight should have been a good work by Bellini, but it was so dark it was impossible to see. Worse still, none of the paintings are lit and I had to use my iPhone torch to try and look at them. If the lighting was due to conservation issues they shouldn’t have them hanging over radiators. A really disappointing series of gloomy rooms where none of the collection can be appreciated. Wish they’d let you know half the rooms. We’re closed before you paid up.

Really beautiful gardens and house. Even had tennis rackets out to play with on the courts. Staff in the house were friendly and knowledgeable, whilst only being volunteers.

Very impressive house and the garden! Extremely large area for walking, playing and resting. Kitchen garden with enormous patches of vegetables. Everything well looked after.

Great dog-friendly place to go! Beautiful autumn colours and some nice trails to walk. Cafe could have had a better variety of food and 4 pounds something is a bit much to ask for a pasty...but other than that I couldn't fault the place.

Great day out with the family! We really enjoyed visiting this place. The house was beautiful with a gorgeous library. Extensive gardens to explore and several playgrounds for the kids. The cafes and restaurant were well stocked with local apple juice which was very sweet and refreshing. There was the option to call a buggy to collect you at specified benches which we did as our son is disabled and found it very tiring to go back to the entrance. The only thing I'd daddy could improve is the parking for no members of the Trust, as the paddy and display didn't accept coins and had to be done via the app which didn't work for us. We ended up paying at the door together with the entrance fee -- they should add a notice tio the machines saying that's possible to pay at the door as this would have made it easier. But other than that it was a beautiful daddy out with the family.

A fabulous visit into someone's vision. Such craftsmanship, especially the stone and wood carvings, is a joy to behold. It is important to hear the story of construction and how the financial wealth was not only used here but benefited many other religious buildings throughout the country. A Christmas visit has been promised to be well worth it!

Beautiful grounds, simply stunning. It is a good walk to get round and you do need to be able to walk a fair way. Some of the season they run golf buggies to give less able visitors a lift up to the house.

Stumbled across this wonderful house on a wet, miserable day. It was an absolute delight. The family history was very interesting, the house they created was beautiful and quirky, a labyrinth of rooms. Had the weather been better I'm sure the gardens would have been just as wonderful, (I intend to discover how wonderful on a definite return trip).

Visited on the 15/8/23 having previously visited about 10 years ago. Lovely house and gardens. The volunteers were friendly, knowledgeable and happy to talk about the house and it’s history. It was disappointing to find that rooms we had viewed before (kitchen area) were closed as were two of the bedrooms upstairs which we were advised were closed due to insufficient volunteers. With no reduction in entry fee this really is not acceptable and maybe there needs to be some consideration to employing some staff until more volunteers can be found. Also to mention the outside cafe area had insufficient chairs, tables and sun shades and while the 2 staff serving were pleasant and friendly and working flat out the queue for a drink, ice cream or snack was way too long with people walking away.

Wonderful place to visit. Lovely house which is very well preserved and the volunteers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Huge amount of grounds, which are great for children, and stopped for an ice cream at the Pavilion Cafe which is one of two cafes'.

Enjoyable and interesting place to visit, particularly on a lovely day like it was for our visit. The house is fascinating and also the chapel - which we found out has never been consecrated, but this wasn't mentioned in the material. The volunteers run garden tours and this was great. Mostly a tree tour and it ends up in the walled garden.

Great place. Well worth the money. The house is interesting. A lot of history. The flower garden by the orangery is beautiful. Nice kitchen garden. Really good bus service to get you round; great for my mum in a wheelchair. All seven of us really enjoyed it. Highly recommend it

Not far from Bristol, this beautiful house is national trust so it is free for national trust members. The walk from the carpark to the house, it was a great walk through the parkland and then onto the impressive gothic house. The house opens from 10-2:30 so give yourself plenty of time to get there before it closes, the grounds itself are open until 18:00, great for an evening walk😃

Great place for a day out. There is so much to do there between the house, the huge park, the wall garden and the café. Staff is lovely, the food is good and the shop offers great products. It changes throughout the year so it is worth coming back ! Probably one of my favourite National Trust place in the area
