We had a wonderful evening at Haginoya-Magome orchestrated by Chef Masa. His attention to detail and love of flavors was evident in the many delicious dishes he served and in the space he has created. We’ve had several incredible meals during our time in Japan and this one made it into our top 3 experiences. He’s organized a beautifully peaceful space with nice touches of pottery and art along the corridors. one of the highlights from our trip. Highly recommend making a reservation for dinner here as part of your itinerary in Magome. As an added bonus, after the meal you’ll get to stroll through a softly lit Magome at night on your way back to your minshuku.

The restaurant was one of the best I've ever visited. The waiter was actually this restaurant's chef who used to train in a famous Japanese restaurant in another place. I asked a local where I should have lunch or dinner in this area, and she recommended this place. The chef was very friendly, had a great passion for his job, each dish, and service to the guests. You need a reservation to have lunch and dinner, which you might feel difficult, but it's worth trying. He will try to understand you, and you will definitely have a great time and dinner there.

Just wow. This place is amazing! The food was phenomenal and incorporated different parts of local vegetables and signature foods from the region. The chef was so nice and explained every dish and why he chose it. The ambience and atmosphere were amazing too! We got a private room for two, and it was minimalistic and elegant. We had sake along with our meal and all in it came up to under 100,000 yen! Just an all around incredible experience and I whole heartedly recommend that you try and visit this restaurant.

Great food with great value. Price ranges from 1000-3000¥ and every dish is delicious. Tempura is very crisp and tasty. Private dining room with a garden view. Host is every nice & friendly. Practically the only restaurant that remains open after 5pm in Magome!

One of the best Japanese food we had during our stay in Japan (we have been to Kyoto and Osaka for reference). Another reason to come back to Magome. Highly recommend.

Omggggggg this place is incredible. The whole experience from start to finish was out of this world. Not only is the town of Magome magical as is, this restaurant brings out the unique vibe this place has as a whole. We were greeted and taken to our private room with a view of the beautiful Japanese gardens. Every single dish that was brought to us was immaculate and tasted incredible. The attention to detail was almost surreal, and everything was done and served with utmost respect to the guests, the food and the venue. The sake was from kiso valley, was not cheap but so delicious we got two servings (oops!). I seriously enjoyed this so much- this may have been the best dining experience I’ve ever had in my entire life. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel like royalty whilst eating beautifully prepared traditional Japanese cuisine. Kanpai!

Accidentally ran into this restaurant but it was an incredible experience. Best Japanese fine dining I ever had with reasonable price, which is totally out of my expectation. The staff was helpful and very nice, explained every single dish one by one. A must-visit place if you’re going to Magome, highly recommended.

Exquisite! A bit hidden and looked closed from the outside. Incredible experience. They have two set menus, one is sashimi (we didn’t get that one) and the other one a mixture of different things (grilled fish, tempura, noodles…). You are in a private room and they bring you the dishes one by one. Very little English spoken but enough to communicate. Great service and very attentive.

Amazing experience at reasonable prices. Very helpful English speaking owner. This restaurant is on the Michelin Guide. The tempura was fresh, sizable and just the right amount of batter.

The sets come in 1000, 2000 and 3000. For that price, you get to eat in an exquisite private Japanese dining room. Even though it was in the cold winter months we visited, the place was well heated up. Service was great. Food was reasonable. Overall value was great!

Excellent food and ambience. Fairly priced. Incredibly, a one man operation with the super nice chef serving the food himself! Must try.
