This
is
a
fascinating
museum,
combining
historical,
architectural,
political,
artistic
and
ethnographic
interests.
The
museum
is
hosted
in
the
old
presidential
palace,
which
initially
served
as
the
French
colonial
adminstration.
The
museum
hosts
various
traditional
objects
of
art,
mostly
of
Bamun
origin,
as
well
as
(surprisingly)
recent
paintings
from
the
Poto-Poto
school
in
Brazzaville.
On
the
ethnographic
side,
there
is
an
exhibition
of
traditional
dwellings
and
clothing
of
the
different
regions
of
Cameroon,
as
well
as
traditional
musical
instruments
(as
well
as
some
modern
ones,
including
a
saxophone
of
the
famed
Manu
Dibango!).
There
is
also
a
photo
exhibition
showing
different
Cameroonian
political
figures
and
events
which
took
place
before
and
after
the
Cameroonian
independence
in
1960.
The
entrance
fee
includes
a
guided
tour
which
was
highly
informative
and
interesting.
