Impressively intimate and highly engaged Italian gastronomy experience. Third dining experience and counting. I thoroughly enjoyed Mark's culinary excellence with every dish served with perfection. The food was bliss, service was impeccable and the open kitchen restaurant feels like you're dining at Mark's home. The accommodating diet and allergy considerations are just as considerate as being assuring you will still have a great time. Highly recommended as one, if not the best Italian fine dining establishment. Needless to say, early reservations are an absolute must. Restaurant is non-smoking.

Mark has curated such a special space. Every dish and drink is tied to a piece of his life from the wine selections to his killer chicken luau. We have gone for dinner and brunch with excellent service and delicious eats each time. I find myself wanting to come back not only for the food but for his ability as a host to create an inviting and comfortable space. Already looking forward to coming back, thank you Mark!

This was the one of the best meals, if not the best, we’ve had since moving back to Japan in 2018. Every dish got better and better! The thought and stories behind each dish made it that much more special. The ambiance of the small cozy restaurant made us feel like we were in Marks personal kitchen! He was not only a great chef, but an awesome host and a kind person. We could have talked for hours if we didn’t have to make it to our babysitter!!!! I really hope to be back one day- what Mark has done here is truly special

Probably my most favorite restaurant experience ever. Mark’s Tokyo is a warm, inviting location with amazing ambience. Couple this with Chef Mark’s personality and conversation skills, you feel like you’re home and among family shooting the breeze. He even gave us recommendations for other great restaurants and off the cuff requests such as where he sourced his knives. I haven’t even mentioned the food, my god the food. The omakase dinner course was delicious and diverse. Sourcing the ingredients from local farms with consideration for seasonality. You will not leave disappointed. My partner and I were jet lagged, hangry and even considered cancelling last minute. I’m so glad we didn’t. Mark is an experience I will forever cherish. My only regret is not getting connected with him, his business and the people we spent all night chatting away with. I can only see success in the future. Thanks for making Tokyo a memorable time for us!

It was my anniversary with my partner. Let me just say, Mark made it a special one. 1. Delicious and we'll planned courses with wine pairings that not only took the guess work out of it but put every pricy restaurant in Tokyo to shame as far as flavor matching goes. I went to Japan, then to Italy, and back, all in one course and with pure finesse. You will not be disappointed. 2. He's the host of your dreams — a conversationalist with no rival in the city. He pays attention to you and has such an easy going manner along with an interesting personal life story that you're meal almost feels secondary to the atmosphere. 3. Bang for your buck. If you consider your meal quality and the atmosphere, it feels like a steel to pay ¥30,000 for two people. For me, that means I'll be a repeat customer for sure. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

THIS is Mark's Tokyo located in the back streets of Meguro, not far from the station. I chose this place as it was recommended, a while ago, by Tokyo friends "in the know" about good food and we were not disappointed. Mark was super friendly, accommodating and the food was delightful, locally sourced where possible and highlights his American/Italian heritage. The corn soup was Max's favorite as he is used to simple Japanese corn soup. This had so many dimensions to it and had dashi at its heart. The Uni, fig and burrata dish was the star for me, being a huge fan of all three of their ingredients and the fettuccine pasta bolognese was his mama's recipe so of course it was good!!! The wine was also very good -mostly Californian, again displaying Mark's roots. Definitely recommended!!

I love Mark's!!! I went for dinner and their special Hawaiian brunch a little while ago. The chef is such an amazing person, and is able to incorporate local Japanese ingredients very deliciously. And the Hawaiian brunch? To die for! Loved the bloody mary too. I highly recommend going!

We went to Mark's Tokyo in our last evening in the city before heading back home. The entire experience was exceptional, from the food, the service, the conversation to the Playlist. We will come again in a heartbeat. Thank you for accommodating our dietary restrictions as well! It was not taken for granted.

One of the best dinners we had in Japan. If you're lucky enough to secure a spot at the counter and engage in a conversation with Mark while he prepares your dinner, you're in for a truly extraordinary dining experience. The quality of the food alone left us in awe, but it was the engaging conversation that kept us captivated for hours. Mark has this remarkable ability to make you feel like lifelong friends from the moment you step through the door — no matter where you come from or who you come with. His attention to detail in both the cuisine and hospitality combined with his rich life experiences results in a dining experience that sets itself apart from any other restaurant in Tokyo. Truly recommend visiting his spot before it inevitably gets recognition from the Michelin guide. It's only a matter of time before the world discovers the culinary love that he and his staff have created here. Mark, thank you. We owe you a night out in Brooklyn when you’re here next, we’ll see you again soon!

Truly an exceptional night, Mark was kind and interactive , he was very thorough in explaining all of the dishes to be served and what they meant to him . He was considerate of the jet lagged condition me and my partner were in and tried his best to help. You could tell the love and emotion that he put into the food. The dishes were all phenomenal. The ambiance was nice and the waitstaff was attentive and polite. I cannot recommend it enough. Make sure you get the Omakase 5 course . You will not be disappointed. The people at Marks made a special night perfect. I would do everything I can to return for another meal. Definitely a worthwhile trek in Tokyo .

Simply Amazing. Recently went to Mark’s Tokyo for a date. Had the Omakase course and every dish was phenomenal. The beef dish and fettuccine was a stand out for me personally. Also the wines we had there really went well with the food and atmosphere. Chef Mark’s explanation for each dish and his teams service made us feel special and at ease. The space and ambience is very aesthetic and comfortable. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This is one of the best places in Tokyo for sure. The food is absolutely delicious. It’s a a hug. I couldn’t get enough and wished I could just have the course all over again. The simplicity yet complexity of the flavors, use of local ingredients, different levels of deliciousness. Watching the chef work was another part of the experience as he moves like a true artist. We will definitely be back, because they change menu weekly, so looking forward to try something new again. Highly recommended. Think that reservation is needed as this place is definitely fully booked.

Absolutely delightful dinner experience. The restaurant is tucked out of the way in the neighborhood in a comfortable intimate space. The owner/ chef is a delight to talk to throughout the meal experience with a fascinating background (perfectly fluent in Japanese and English). The pace of the meal was leisurely (so don't plan on rushing through your meal) but perfect for the atmosphere. Excellent quality of food and presentation throughout. Very glad to have stumbled across this restaurant.

Small and cozy atmosphere and it’s recommended to get seated at the counter if possible rather than the booth seats as it is really fun to watch chef Mark cook up all your food. We had the omakase course and everything was delicious, and was also very impressed by how tasty the recommended wines were.

What a wonderful experience at Mark’s Tokyo. Each dish was presented with thoughtful explanation and represents the freshest seasonal ingredients from various prefectures. We loved all of the textures and flavours that chef Mark has combined in his dishes. Was definitely inspired to try some new things in my own home cooking! The scallop was a stand out with its sweetness and perfectly seared crust. If you are lucky and the lemon ice cream with blueberry compote is available, make sure you have it. On top of all of this deliciousness are the staff who are attentive and truly friendly. We loved conversing with them just as much as eating the food :) Thank you for the excellent evening and we will be back!

I would give this restaurant 6 stars if I could. The food, ambiance and hospitality were phenomenal! The menu is designed based on what’s in season and also weaves in foods that Chef Mark learned from his parents. Every dish was delicious. As an added bonus, Mark is super friendly and personable. We enjoyed chatting with him while he cooked and sharing stories, and left dinner feeling like we were guests in his home. Thank you Chef Mark for such a memorable experience, we hope to return soon!

A big restaurant crush. The dishes were creative and very tasty. Local and homemade products really added a personal touch to everything. Mark and his staff were very attentive, we felt like having dinner at a friend’s place. We will be back for sure!

Brought a friend here for her birthday, it was absolutely perfect. The food was delicious, creative and plated beautifully. Mark himself is a joy to speak with and his passion for cooking really shows. A wonderful dinner we won’t forget.

Mark and his team are very friendly, they will take you on a cooking adventure around the country by incorporating fresh items that you can see ( described on the spot ), either home made or sourced from the country, while he prep fantastic dishes in front of you. He'll also make sure that you're not allergic to any of them and accommodate if needs be.

The most amazing experience. The food is delicious, truly a step above - which is saying something in Tokyo. You can tell that an inordinate amount of thought and care goes into each dish, all using ingredients that are either locally sourced or have some relationship to the chef’s (Mark) life or heritage. Any of the dishes by themself would be something to write home about and the fact that they were all like that, just made us more excited for each course. We also were fortunate to do the wine pairing with the meal, which Chef Mark offered to tailor to as many glasses as we’d like - we opted to pair a new glass with each course - and each time the wine was the perfect complement to the dish. The wines were all from the West coast of the US, and all were fantastic, even varieties we wouldn’t typically go for (such as Chardonnay) were delicious and just the right flavor to go with the pairing. While all of the above makes the restaurant a 5 star location, it’s the intimacy of the place and the engagement of Chef Mark and the waitstaff that make it an unforgettable experience. Chatting with them was like being in a living room with old friends, to the point that we left feeling like we’d made new friends. We can’t wait to return!

TLDR; top notch meal & restaurant in Meguro City that is perfect for travellers or those living in Japan who are looking for a high-end but also intimate dining experience. FOOD: Mark's menu was a blend of Japanese & Italian foods stemming from his personal heritage and training (as he was cooking and playing, he shared so many wonderful stories). He mentioned that he will go to the market to see what's in season or fresh to inspire new dishes for the week. If you made me pick my favorite, it was his lotus root & asian pear soup with focaccia! Everything else though was delicious and well seasoned, from the pesto pasta, the scallops, and the pork shoulder. We loved the small touches like finishing salt, olive oil, or homemade chili oil which he would add to his dishes. Oh I can't forget the homemade ice cream at the end 🤤 ENVIRONMENT & SERVICE The counter seating was awesome because it felt like a chef's table for all of us. It felt like we were in his beautiful kitchen as he prepared and served the meal. Service was super attentive and outstanding. I didn't drink but my husband enjoyed some whiskey and other guests enjoyed wine which Mark selected specifically to complement the dishes. There were also two small booths available. Overall, we left so full, satisfied, and grateful we scheduled this special meal during our trip. It was a great mix of Japanese and western cuisine and I recommend everyone to come here and enjoy. In fact, the guests next to us (who we didn't know) already scheduled their next reservation!! On that note: make a reservation! We snagged one for a Saturday evening and the place was full.

😠 The ramen was good but I was very disappointed with the service, we asked for help in ordering and what ingredients were in the ramen and the staff was not very helpful. Also, I asked the staff to takeaway for my daughters leftover noodles and they threw it out instead!!! It wasn’t a language barrie...
