A must visit and dine when in the Tirtodipuran-Prawirotaman area, along with Viavia and Mediterranea, especially for its very authentic Javanese home cooked cuisine. I've been here a number of times, and never get bored of the various items they have in their menu, starting from their Nasi Campur to their desserts - their Durian Mlekoh is addictive. The place itself is semi outdoors and can get a bit hot at times, but a glass of Es Teh Tawar should be able to keep you cool. Overall, very recommended!

Very traditional Indonesian/Javanese food! The dishes portion is small, but that makes you wanting more 😍. Recommended for foreigners and also local tourists 👍. The place is very comfortable.

A little touristy, food tasted authentic. Staff are very attentive and pricing is alright. There’s a little parking spot outside. Credit card is accepted and the restaurant can accommodate big crowd. Love all the wooden furniture.

Come here based on google review and local news recommendation - its top on the list of must try restaurants in Jogjakarta serving traditional Javanese cuisine. Again the Ayam Penggeng is sweet. In fact all dishes are sweet (pecel and sayur asem - which to my surprise, there is a faint sourness but mainly sweet). The only thing that’s not seeet and my favourite is sambal mental. Spicy and salty, just the way I like it!

Mark Zuckerberg brought me here. I ordered the famous Paru Ketumbar that you couldn't find anywhere else, plus Ayam Bakar. Unfortunately, I should have come earlier that day, couldn't get the Bubur Durian.

A cozy restaurant with a large joglo building offering Indonesian dishes and beverages. The pecel rice with a fried egg was perfect (5/5), but other dishes were not right: the roasted chicken was rather tough (4/5), the iced ginger tea didn't have ginger taste at all (3/5), the red beans in the iced red bean drink weren't soft and its coconut milk was not so fresh (3/5), and the fried corn bakwan snack was a bit too salty (4/5). High chairs only. Cash payment or by card. Fast and friendly service. Clean restrooms and musholla (moslem prayer place). Spacious parking lot for motorbikes (with a roof) and cars. Reasonable prices. Very good free WiFi.

We visited this place +/- 1 month ago. The place offered a Javanese-style menu and ambience. The service was very good and they were so friendly. We ordered eyem penggeng (32 K), nasi campur biasa (23 K), pecel (13 K), pisang panggang (11 K), es lidah buaya (16 K), and es kopyor bu ageng (27 K) excl. taxes. All the foods were very satisfying! One of us personally liked the pisang panggang and the es lidah buaya very much 😀 the pisang panggang had a very good sweetness and the es lidah buaya was so refreshing. One of the good options if you searching for a good place to have traditional Javanese styled food.

Warung Bu Ageng is a Java restaurant located on Prawirotama street. It’s one of my fav place to lunch or dinner. The traditional design is awesome. The menu offers a wide variety of Java food. I highly recommend you to try Ayam Panggang & Sayur Lodeh. It’s really good.

nice place for family gathering or just enjoying home-cook Indonesian food, can reserve place here, pretty atmosphere, good food with a price around 20k - 50k. Recommended menu: Bubur Duren Mlekoh (if you like durian)

Poor waiter service attitude. We were completely ignored despite gesturing to waiters and seeing that we haven’t ordered. We reached before 12 and main dishes of sei sapi, pecel, kepala ikan were sold out on Sep 11, 2022. So ended up eating at Poka Ribs directly opposite it. World class Juicy, delicious ribs turns out! Warung Bu Ageng continued to attract many tourist visits, unfortunately far from living up to its reputation from the early days. Time to go to the many other eatery options.

My go to option in the menu is Nasi Paru Ketumbar. Super delish. The menu was exclusive as the recipe was developed by the owner of the restaurant. This place is owned by Bapak Butet Kertaradjasa and at times he's easily spotted in the restaurant. This is very recommended esp if you want to experience Indonesian food culture. Oh, Mark Zuckeberg had lunch here when visiting Jogja.

Great homey ambience at this restaurant. The taste also quite good. Ordered “Nasi Campur Ayam Suwir and Bakwan Ageng” Bakwan is quite big and got 2 pcs for 10k. Rice balance with the dishes is just perfect. Hometaste restaurant indeed

Love the ambience, mixed culture and history. The soft speaker and the room acoustic bring comfort and calmness. No questionings Javanese authentic food with fair price (75K for 2). I love the Poci tea 😍

Cozy and delightful. Small-town charm with high quality food. Menu has good variety and plates are great for sharing. Very social environment that is polite and respectful, just as things should be in Yogyakarta. Do not be surprised if you find yourself sharing stories with the person sitting next to you. You very well may leave the here having more friends than you had when you entered.

Popular Javanese restaurant with classic home-style dishes. The ayam panggang (eyem penggeng as they call it) is exquisite! Definitely their must try item, smokey, sweet and umami.

One of the restaurants to get Javanese home-cooked food that you can visit in Jogja. I always go with the Nasi Campur (you can choose the topping, from chicken, beef, and fish) and if you fancy durian, please try their Bubur Durian Mlekoh. This place is close to Prawirotaman Street and pretty easy to be found.

I love their specialty dish, the chicken. Usually I don't like the sweet taste from Yogja's food, but here I can take it well. Bu Ageng has her own recipe it seems. The place is almost always packed, but the ambience is nice, lively, I would say. Service is very fast, which is good. The restaurant is quite clean and it has a range of food to try, although I would only come for the specialty food.

No wonder many people recommend the place, the food is tasty, i think its well represented the javanese dishes to match global taste. I stopped by for dinner and its still packed. The ambience is like being at your eyang's house, they have the signature of durian mblekoh formed as porrige - i thought it will be a cold drink. But worth to try though especially in cold season. Most of the dish were sold out but we can still order some basic nasi campur ayam suwir and nasi pecel is terrific, love the hints os kentjur in it. Would love to return for lunch with the family

A lot of mozzies and flies if you are used to this kind of environment. The food is dark colored and looks ghastly ! Tastes better than it looks so try to overcome that fear 1st. Good could be warmer and served sooner. Waited almost 30min before any thing was served.

This restaurant serves javanese and kalimantan traditional food. Old time favorite dishes were dragging to our childhood home food. Their ayam panggang (grilled chicken) is the favorite menu, and it is very good. Lele/catfish, terik tempe, pecel and soon are good also. Try the past common menu today.

It is an underrated local restaurant. Very cozy yet pleasant, the ambience is very warm- just like home, so does the food. "Indonesian homey cuisine", a comfort food for every one! Family friendly resto with great taste (sweet, spicy, umami) and balanced texture (chewy, tender, crispy, soggy) in one plate named nasi campur. Durian mlokoh is superb too!

This place had always been a highly recommended restaurant to visit whilst in Yogya. Try their nasi campur rumahan (a mix of rice with great varieties of side dishes, I especially enjoyed the ox tongue) and the famous bubur durian mlekoh (a hot warm bowl of durian porridge topped with cubes of white bread). The back story of this restaurant was amazing as well. The owner used to cook for all her guest, traditional indo homemade food. The guest liked her food and encouraged her to open up a restaurant. Years later, Bu Ageng owned this nice little restaurant in Yogyakarta. The place gained its popularity when a famous Indonesian movie (Ada Apa Dengan Cinta) used the restaurant as one of their sets! Worth a visit!

A must visit when in the area and you're looking for authentic Javanese-Borneo food recipe. I recommend Nasi Campur Paru Ketumbar and the Es Lidah Buaya or Carica. The parking is a bit small, going to be challenging for groups or bigger vehicles. The interior is nice and the service is lovely too. ☺️

i dont know why this place has such a huge popularity, probably because it is owned by an artist (?) food taste just okay and a bit expensive. i also had to wait for a long time, and the cafe wasn’t even packed back then.

Indonesian traditional food. I ordered Nasi Campur (mixed rice) and Ayam Panggang (Grilled Chicken). I like the Sambal of grilled chicken btw, little bit spicy which is good. For Pecel (Indonesian Salad with soybean sauce), for me It’s more like Pecel in Sunda instead of Java.

Came here twice already, love their nasi campur paru ketumbar! The taste is great in my opinion, just like homemade javanese food. But maybe they can manage the portion, for me it’s a lil bit too small? Lot of meat and condiments but there’s not much rice. But overall good.

Impressive. food taste good just like how my great grandmother cooked it. directly pulled my memories back to the old time. Iced Carica drink was too sweet on my palate but it was fine. Tables were full as we were there. Kinda noisy but overall it feels like people here are having fun. I don't think it were pricey. maybe if you compared to the other Warung it is. Staff are very friendly and helpful, feels like home.
