5 stars hotel with 3 stars amenities and 1 star qualities. I attached 5 photos. They tell everything! We booked this hotel via agoda. We will not go back! Initially, I believe all the good reviews until i step in into this hotel. I was disappointed. It's by far the worst hotel in our entire java road trip! I can see the rooms are not cleaned properly Or they skip the cleaning We wanted to check out right away but they upgraded our stay to level 6 executive room, but still we are not satisfied. The breakfast menu and ambience is standard. The swimming pool is ordinary. It's an old hotel after all Though the staffs are polite and helpful. I wrote this review so people dont fall into good reviews trap Check the low rating first before you book this hotel.

I stayed in the Grand Premium room with my family. The room was huge and spotless. However, I took a star out due to the bathroom, which felt a bit cramped relative to the size of the room itself. Waterproofing on the shower door did not seem to work properly, causing water to spill everywhere. The service was excellent. We checked in at 1 AM and were promptly escorted to our room. Abundant choices for the buffet breakfast and on the room service menu but you won't run out of choices as the hotel is just a 5-minute walk from Malioboro street. There is also a supermarket right beside the hotel. Thanks to its strategic location, traffic around the hotel can be very ugly during holiday seasons.

The hotel has a really bad noise issue. From the bed you can hear: traffic outside, motorbike passing, call of prayer, ambulance, people talking in the corridor, door being closed or open, basically all kind of noise. If you are in the corridor, you can hear the shower running in the room. The bed and pillows are not comfortable either. The springs feel hard on my body, and there is no bed topper on the mattress. They don’t use comforter, but a blanket in between two white sheets. Something that I’ve never found in 4 and 5 stars hotel. Pillow is not fluffy either. The blind is not completely darken the room. It is too thin to block the light, and there are too many gaps in between blinds and the walls. Gym has an interesting rules, anybody can play their own music and connect it to the gym’s speaker, which I found quite selfish and disrespectful of other users. Breakfast foods are mediocre. Stars are boosted from 1 to two because location is excellent and staff are friendly. I stayed here for 4 nights and have never been so sleep deprived.

Spacious family room. Breakfast was good but not fantastic. Only a short walk to Malioboro Street. Every morning around 4:15am, we were woken by the Mosque call to prayer which is located across the street from the hotel!

It is claimed to be a 5 star hotel, but I do not think it is suitable. The standard for 5 star hotel in Jakarta (as the capital of city) and Central Java differ a lot. Ranging from its hospitality, facilities and more. I found some broken appliances such as the light stand and teared towel. Moreover, the bathup is already damaged (some cracks visible). However, for a hotel in the center of Yogyakarta, this can be inferred as the top tier hotel near to the city center.

Nice hotel with all kindness & hospitality right from the start. Room is pretty good with all amenities. Not far from Malioboro ( you can walk if you want to ). Stayed two days on vacation.

An old hotel with warmest service. I asked for a connecting room, but when called the concierge I realized I booked the wrong type of rooms. Wasn't expecting, but to our surprise they upgrade the room and give us a connecting ones. Great kudos. Will definitely come again. Our favorite hotel in the heart of Yogyakarta. Note: pool is a great place for a great picture

I booked for 4 nights stay at this hotel. Overall is good. The swimming pool, the garden, the location is strategic. The breakfast was so limited for 5 stars hotel. But the most dissatisfied & disappointed is their blanket/bed cover. It is so disgusting and i WONDER why THIS 5 stars hotel still using this kind of blanket. The smell is very bad, there are many stains on the sheets, i can tell that the sheets are dusty. You can see at the photo that I took. So, Please, Melia Hotel, your client need a good rest and feel comfort.

Very good hotel. One star less, just because of the maintenance that could do more. The room was very spacious, but, for instance, the shower had two modes (rain shower and handheld) and both were constantly ‘working’. Also, some of the furniture had stains that really just should be fixed. The outside area is beautiful though, albeit that the space is quite constrained considering the size of the hotel (200+ rooms). It does very much live up to the wave of calm in a city though. The walk to the city is over a partly remodeled street.

Good mannered staff. Cool interior and calming ambience. Love to stay there. Spend 2 nights here and was so delightful! Breakfast was amazing with various menu available, including japanese menu. The location is also strategic since located near the heart of the city that you may able to walk down to go to Malioboro.

A well managed hotel, with adequate reasonably quiet rooms. Excellent staff. The weakness is the poor breakfast, lacking both variety and quality. The restaurant is terrible! I had a shockingly bad steak. Avoid at all costs. Stayed 10 days in September 2023

the rooms have been renovated, cleaner than before. can upgrade to the level, the shower notes "for guests whose height is above 180 are less recommended" but there is still a bathtub alternative

Good hotel with great food and great ambience and view. The staffs are so friendly. The location is in the centre of the city and close to some of tourist attractions. Very recommended hotel to stay or business trip 👍

I really had a great experience staying at this hotel. The room is clean, spacious, great food, and not too far from Malioboro street even on foot. All the staff are really helpful and hospitable. Very close to the supermarket which is just right by the hotel side in case you need to buy something. A minor improvement could've been done though, a big screen smart TV would've been nice to match the spacious room. Other than that, this hotel is a very recommended place to stay whenever you visit Yogyakarta.

Ok, so the pool is great, lots of fun and the hotel garden is pretty nice. Basic stuff was all there - good aircon, WiFi functional. But sadly the rest of the hotel is showing its age - grandeur fading. Toilets in public areas that don't flush, shabby doors, sinks slow to drain. Staff were very helpful and willing but some basic aspects missing - for example we were put on the smoking floor without asking us (we're non-smokers). On the whole we liked it (even though the choice of beers was very limited and the live bar music too loud for us) and would recommend it as a safe, comfortable choice.

Nice hotel, clean, and comes with good service. Had problem with the toilet but the staff solved the problem very quickly and professional. Located near tourist spot (Malioboro). If you have late train or flight but still want to explore Jogja, after check out you can keep your luggage on the hotel and pick up when ready to go.

Old but Gold. what you've seen from the outside is only 1% of the inside. they have a big garden inside even tho the location is in the center of Yogyakarta. kid zone available, lounge was very cozy, room was well maintained and clean.

An old 5 stars hotel, room is old-stylish with vintage blanket. Hotel staff didnt fully clean the room, only mend the bed. dirty plates and glass still inthe room when i came back in the afternoon. Location is in the heart of Yogyakarta City.

We got a luxury feeling, not overly sumptuous, but pleasant. Good food, very friendly, polite and helpful staff. Although a bit old, reasonably well maintained hotel, it has class with very nice floors, and good furniture. Walking distance from Malioboro and other interesting sites. A good experience. We love to go back.

One of the best hotel in jogja, the room was spacious, great breakfast, malioboro just nearby. Great gym and great swimming poll

  • 5/5 Paul L. 11 months ago on Google
Best place to stay in Yogyakarta. It's one of the few fancy hotels with grounds and swimming pool that's located in the downtown area. Other international hotels are far away in suburban areas with more space, which means with typical Indonesian traffic it could take you up to an hour to visit downtown. It's also fortunately tucked into a quiet corner one block away from the busy shopping and food street, so the stay is serene and peaceful despite the proximity to the busy areas. Rooms are good value and huge. Great hotel and a great stay.

Staying in this hotel was a relaxing and pleasant experience, but I would not say the same for the spa. Skip to the parts below to read about the spa if you want to, because I have a lot to say about it. In terms of the food, the breakfast buffet was not bad. However, as someone who doesn't eat beef, it limited some options for me. For those who eat beef, you may enjoy it. Ching San, the Chinese restaurant in the hotel, was awesome and I totally recommend it. You can see the menu and some of the food in the pictures. For the hotel ambience, it was wonderful and the vibe of this hotel was very relaxing. Regarding the massage, we went there with high hopes as hotel massages are, from past experience, not bad, and the masseurs are usually of a certain quality. The ambience of the massage area was nice but the rest was really not. The music that they blasted (yes, blasted) was the type from Indonesian puppet shows, where there's a lot of rattling and climaxes to the music. Under normal circumstances, I believe I would've appreciated it, but as someone who was expecting to relax during a massage, this was a bit too much. Furthermore, my masseur seemed to be under the impression that she was massaging my muscles when she was, in fact, just randomly massaging everywhere. I came out of the massage with the same tense and sore muscles because she had somehow managed to successfully evade the muscle areas every time. There seemed to be no logic in how she was massaging and no logic in whatever she was doing. For instance, my companion asked her masseur to massage her harder, and my masseur said yes, and proceeded to massage me harder instead. My companion and I were rather baffled by that. Also, my masseur asked if I wanted a stomach massage. I said yes, to which she proceeded to instead massage my waist area and press hard on my bladder (once again, I was stunned). To make matters worse, my masseur seemed to be totally unaware of which parts she should massage and shouldn't massage. She kept touching a certain area that I didn't want her to touch until I tensed up really hard and she asked me what was wrong. I then told her very explicitly not to touch that area anymore. Overall, it is so baffling to me how anyone of this standard can be a hotel masseur.

One of the best 4* hotel in Yogyakarta. Rooms are spacious, complete facilities, nearby city center. The foods are great too. Ask for special rooms facing north for great mt.Merapi view.

Great property in the city and my kids loved it so we did !! Rooms are big and spacious. We received a wonderful welcome cake that added more to our happiness. The pool and kids play area was instant hit with my kids. The Red painting in the lobby was just wow and I cant keep my eyes of that painting each time I passed through. The service is excellent and very warm. If I would like to suggest something it would be their breakfast spread and frankly it was very good , however I felt it was short of variety after experiencing at multiple 5* properties in Indonesia. Would love to come back. Happy Travelling !!

This is far from a five star hotel as claimed. Dirty rooms and alleys. It seems the carpet has never been cleaned or replaced with new one. Lousy services. They did minimal efforts to clean the room, no vacuum, no hand towel replacement. I still found pieces of wrapped paper on the floor after room cleaning. The bed wasn't made properly. My shoes where on a messy position. The two windows could not be closed tight, so we heard all the sounds from the streets the whole night. On the second floor it's a nightmare. Plus pollution. It was a good hotel: 15 years ago; but not nowadays. I won't stay here again if the management still runs the business like this.

Oasis of calm. Stop looking elsewhere and just book Melia Purosani. From the friendly and helpful staff, to the spacious and comfortable rooms (I’d recommend paying a little more for the executive rooms on level 6 as you get access to the executive room which is a treat in itself) to the facilities that give you everything you need. I could go on and on, but no need. You already get the picture. Oh and good location too!

  • 5/5 Leon K. 5 months ago on Google
Melia Purosani has been around for long time, but it's well maintained and in good shape. We love the big room, good air conditioning, and very nice breakfast with local food and some Spanish paella. We love the shady swimming pool, but the bottom was a bit dirty and they should put more loungers. Good location to explore Malioboro area and not far from train station.

  • 1/5 wahyu r. 2 years ago on Google
Update: Melia has "kindly" responded to my less-than-favorable review with, unfortunately, excuses for why their service was lightyears below five star. Reading through it, i was tempted multiple times to say "yes, but what was the solution?", for which the reply is always a big "nothing". I spent the last three nights in another five-star hotel nearby. The experience was truly a stark contrast, thank Heaven. Rejoice, there are good five-star hotels nearby staffed with competent and more importantly, empathetic hoteliers. But not this one. Steer clear. Original review: Terrible check in experience, even if this was a 3 star (it is supposedly 5 star). Arrived at 1530 where check in starts at 1400. Had to wait For at least 30 minutes because the room was not even made up yet. Even then, the room was still in the process of being made up as we were ushered inside. No offers for refreshments or drinks, very different to my past Yogya experiences in similarly-priced hotels. Staffs didn't even offer us to sit down. Perhaps it is difficult to empathize with Travelers who just spent 10 hours on the road? Hardly. Javanese aren't known for that. Perhaps they aren't used to receiving weary travelers? Please. Whatever this is, it is not acceptable. Top it all off, in the morning as we wanted to get breakfast, the restaurant brusquely told us that there were three people who already used our quota (we haven't). If a hotel's validation process is full of gaps, that should never affect the guest's experience, let alone in such a frontal manner. If your trip is being paid for by your employer, all of this should be part and parcel somewhat, depending on your employer's standards. But if you are paying, steer clear. Many better hotel's around

Great rooms, extremely friendly staffs, fast check in and out, great view, great pool for our kids, fast lifts, very cold AC (stayed 3 days, we only used 1 AC in 2 connected rooms and still felt very cold), easy parking access, very close to malioboro. The minus: i think breakfast could be more varied, dim lighting, wifi only worked 1 day but we were too lazy to ask, covid protocol could be more strict.

A nice hotel to stay because the location is very close to the city center. Located near the road so expect some noise from the traffic comes to your room. Breakfast is good, with indoor and outdoor seating in the restaurant. The room is quite large but the bed is a bit too soft for me.

A beautifull place to stay, only 10 minutes walking distance from malioboro street. Food was nice with the great smiley service from the staff. the swimming pool has 2 section ( children and adult area) the bar is also provides a pool table and chess table to chill and relax inside the hotel, the lobby lounge also very comfy.

Located near famous Malioboro area of Yogya, this considered old hotel still under good maintenance. Our room is spacious and nice with the balcon backyard. The room service food is also ok, we ordered nasi goreng Kalimantan, good taste.. and Soto Konro, but this one is more like rawon.

  • 4/5 Metty Fauziah W. 2 years ago on Google
If it wasn't because of the hospitality and the close proximity with the famous Malioboro street, I would have given a 3-star rating for the hotel. A more thorough inspection of cleanliness is definitely needed by this hotel. Anyone who plans to stay there should have low expectation to avoid major disappointment 🙏

Very close to Malioboro, this hotel provides many facilities for your travel in Yogyakarta. They have a decent pool (kids friendly), spa & gym, a large lobby and a restaurant with outdoor seating. There's also a fish pond and kids park available. The food is great, the room is clean and comfy and the staff are very polite.

I have an amazing family vacation for 5 days here, choose the level floor, it's worth it if you want some privacy and comfort. When we checked in there were a long line and our room wasn't ready even though it's 4pm due to a high occupancy so we decided to upgrade to the level floor and it was worth it. Both of the ladies working at the lounge are very helpful and accomodating, we had a problem with our previous room and they moved our room within minutes. We chatted a lot ask recommendations from them. The cakes at the deli was delicious and cheap. Room service meals was also good.

firstly, I amazed with their interior, such a luxury building, it’s 5 star hotel btw. Service nya oke, you can early check-in too tapi ya depends dari room nya sih, crowded or not. room nya sesuai request waktu booking, spacious as well although didn’t book the level room. the amenities is so good, even the tea is using dilmah one. maybe the only minus is, di bathroom nggak di provide tombol untuk matiin bel kamar kalo sewaktu penghuni kamar lagi mandi terus ada guests, or maybe I don’t know where it is. the room also full of marble, so comfy too. and the last thing I love about this hotel is their essential oil, wangi dimana-dimana.. I think it’s lemongrass, so calm btw

5 star hotel with comfortable rooms in the heart of Yogyakarta city. Melia's property is large, with numerous amenities such as a gym, restaurant, coffee shop, bar, and, of course, a swimming pool. Feel at ease with exceptional service while on a staycation. Choose a room facing the pool for individuals who don't like noise and want a good view. Breakfast is pretty varied; nevertheless, the food is less varied and tastes typical for a 5-star hotel. Because I got a room with a damaged hair dryer and a tv with a somewhat blurry corner yesterday, my input on items in the room must always be checked and rectified. However, I enjoy my stay here and plan to return.

Another sanctuary in the midth of busy traffic of Yogyakarta. Staying there, we might able to enjoy the natural greenery with lively pond, sound of waterflow which shh away your stress. Pool are quite enjoyable surround with chairs we could gathers with friends or relax. Room with comfy bed, clean bathroom, friendly staffs and housekeeping makes us so welcome to stay and wish to return here in future.

The breakfast selection was impressive and all tasted good! Strategic location, near some famous tourist attractions. The hotel area is green with a lot of trees, sitting outside of the lobby area was so calming. Also, they often gave promotional offers for their rate.

From the outside, the hotel doesn't look inviting but the inside is quite spacious and well maintained. The staffs are friendly and humble. They have a 1.7M pool which is kinda rare for a hotel and the sports club has a sauna that you could reserve and enjoy. The staffs for swimming and sauna are very helpful. They will listen to your request and kindly accommodate it based on the hotel's policy. The room is cozy and clean. The breakfast offers a wide variety of food from local, western, to select japanese food. They changed the menu everyday so it's refreshing for the people who stayed for multiple days. On the western food for example, one day they will have cocktail sausages and the next day they will have beef rashers. Overall, I had a pleasant experience staying here.

Nice, big, and clean hotel near Malioboro Yogyakarta. Even though this is an old hotel, but it is well maintained and really clean. Big bathroom with separated bathtub and shower area. Good breakfast too! Love the green area in the middle of the hotel. Will comeback here when having holiday in Yogyakarta again.

to be honest, i was sceptical with this hotel at first because this is an old hotel. turned out i was very satisfied with their service. the room is large, the bed is comfortable. the bathroom has both shower and bathtub facilities. the closet is large, you can store many items there. the food is delicious, and there are different options to choose from. i personally really like their pastries. i like their chocolate buns, really good to eat with butter. i ate them everyday during my long stay there. the restaurant has an indoor area, an outdoor area facing the garden, and smoking area. the pool is not too deep nor wide. i think it's more of a recreational pool. the ballroom is spacious. i didn't have any technical difficulties using their sound system. the best aspect during my stay there was the hospitality of the staf. all of them were very kind and helpful, from the one in the restaurant, the cleaning service, the reception, and concierge were top notch.
