Always wanted to visit this one. As it's expected it feels magical somehow. I like it very much. The guide explanation is superb, you pay as you wish but please pay them enough. They take photos too! Knew the great spot. It's clean and well taken care of as expected. A must visit place in Jogja!

Visiting the location for first time, and it leaves bad impression for me. True the entrance fee is only 5k. But once inside you are left with your own to figure out where to go. There's actually several region to cover but you need to get there with almost zero navigation guidance. No maps, no direction signs. Of course all this goes down to whether you are comfortable as there are dozens of local guides inside. And what i get those tour guides somehow keep telling to let them guide you rather than being lost in the way, or suddenly shout at you that you cannot go back one you pass certain gates and need to reenter from the beginning. Dude I think its a bully for a tourist site to somehow make fun of the visitor because they clearly don't know there exist such rule. I don't mind paying more for the entrance had there been a proper guidance and navigation on site as not everyone comfortable walking with a tour guide, and some just want to get lost by purpose as part of traveling rather than going. For what its worth, I think its actually an interesting sites to explore, just not with the hostile hospitality.

Living here since 2 years, with KITAS... they still make you pay 300% the entrance fee. This is pure racism and should be forbidden 🚫 (-) The pools are dirty and quite poorly cleaned (-) The guides at the entrance have a very invasive way to force your hand... following you everywhere until you comply to take them (-) During COVID time, they opened the place at PPKM#2 but you discover only after paying the ticket that the most famous and interesting place of the visit is actually closed to visitors 🤬 (+) good restaurations after the many earthquakes and destructions through the past decades, the place is still impressive and offers some nice picture opportunities

Unfortunately didn't get to go in because they close ridiculously early at 3pm. Outside was nice though. People outside who begin to talk to you and offer help are likely paid guides.

One of must visit tourist attraction while visit Yogyakarta. The place is rather easy to find of you follow the maps. Parking lot is spacious and there's few food vendor before you get into the entrance. During Covid19 Pandemic, to visit here you must use your face mask and always bring handsanitizer. Also you'll be divided into group of 5 to 10 people with one tour guide, since some site area are closed during this moment and to guide you for maintaining physical distance within tourist. Ticket price about IDR 20k and 100k for the guide in a group. The tour within water castle is about approximately 2hours. So use your hat and always bring water bottle since it'll be a long walk and pretty hot and bright at noon. The tour guide will explain the history to you throughly. They could speak few languages, like English, French and Dutch. They even take your picture within the site if you ask. Great historical place to visit with a good guide alongside.

Taman sari is known as the palace of water. Actually"Taman sari" means the garden of flower. I guess the flower means women who were belong to the king. This palace was used for leisure and rest for king and noble. So the size of palace is not big and large. I thought that the size is like big mansion, not palace. But the garden and water pool are beautiful and pretty to see. A little bit disapointed with that there are nothing except building. I wished to see anything related to king. Unfortunately i could not find it. And it was very hot also there were not enough place to hide feom sun.

It is a bit of a labyrinth to get through all the features of interest, since you are passing through residential areas in some parts, so I'm glad we got a guide (who really tried his best to explain things in English). The guide was happy to let us stop and take photos and didn't try to rush us through. There was one section closed off, but still worth visiting for the history.

1st time, stay at this hotel for a friend wedding, the price is really affordable after we got the promo price, the location like in the heart of the city and really easy to fond by google map, the hotel (resort look like) its a big complex of hotel with various type of room. big restaurant, children play ground and nice castle lobby Our room is very big, we even have balcony with a good view, the non carpet type room, old furniture and small TV I think other room is better.. but we love our weekend here

A must-to-go tourist place in Jogjakarta! Was amazed by the place's design. The ticket is not too expensive, only Rp5.000 for domestic and Rp15.000 for international tourist. There is a guide also. We paid Rp100.000 for the guide. He told the history and current events about this place. And, he took photo for us also.

Great heritage history place. You can see how old and different of old architecture with current time. Wall thickness is crazily thick. Minus point - no clear sign so the guide is insisting to guide you around. Baddd - maintenance not really good. They should do better maintenance.

I will say this place amazing, because u can feel the historical, and you can also asks for a tour guide, they will tell you the history, why the building is like this and that and others. Pictures? Will be great if you took some when u are visiting. Helping strangers took pictures of them, they will be thankful for that, but dont force.

Underwhelming. I do not understand why people say it's an essential visit. 25,000 entry, 15 minutes maximum and then exit through the rows of stalls selling the usual stuff. Shabby. The whole place needs cleaning up, the walls need repainting, a few flowers and plants added, the underground mosque reopened. No one seems to care about this place. They just want your IDR.

One of must visit tourist destination in Jogja. Came here in pandemic time, it's not too crowded and the visitors are more well-organized. There are many pools, under ground isle, and old buildings. Visitors entered the area in group with a guide. The guide explains all about the whole area, and will help you take some picture in a good angle.

Tamansari Water Castle A place for princesses to bathe and be ‘hunted’ by the sultan. Located near the Kraton. Some of its original functions were a place to rest, meditate, work, hide, and defend the Sultan’s family. Now, become homes for local resident and only the mosque, resting, and bathing space, and underground tunnels are accessible by tourists. #tamansari #jogja #influencerjakarta #nicputra

Taman Sari is a peaceful place. There is nothing much to see but some fountains and people taking pictures all around. The ancient buildings, mainly empty, are still nice to see. There is a few unique shapes there. There is also some souvenirs shops there, especially 3 spots where you can buy some javanese art : wax on batik. They look like canvas but the size won't bother you much, they are foldable without any risk of damaging them. But you will have to frame them at home. A few artists sell their art there, but there is a shop where you can find the son of the main artist. The prices are cheaper there (example 350k instead of 500k for a middle sized art, but of course it's the last shop you will find) still, the price is affordable for a unique piece of art. You can find the third one or buy one in the other ones, you still support the locals. The entrance of Taman sari is cheap, even for foreigners. (25k if I'm not mistaken)

Have a good time there after walking for around 8km and got 2 more kilos in Taman Sari. Nice place to learn about history, also we got a guide and he is really nice and good at taking pictures! We started the journey from the Pasar, I forgot the name. We got a lot to see from there. The ticket is around IDR5K/person (domestic tourist). And for the guide, there is no fix fee but you can give them whatever you want, just based on your willingness. PS: The guide didn't bring us to shopping centre tho.

Taman Sari is a captivating historical site that offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Yogyakarta. As soon as you step foot into this enchanting place, you'll be transported back in time to the era of the Javanese sultanate. The architecture and design of Taman Sari are truly mesmerizing. The intricate details and beautiful craftsmanship of the buildings showcase the grandeur and elegance of the past. Exploring the complex, you'll come across stunning pavilions, pools, and underground tunnels that were once part of a royal pleasure garden. One of the highlights of Taman Sari is the iconic bathing complex. The unique architecture and serene ambiance of the bathing pools create a tranquil atmosphere. It's fascinating to imagine the royal indulgence that took place here centuries ago. The historical significance of Taman Sari adds to its allure. It served as a place of relaxation and entertainment for the royal family and their guests. Learning about the cultural and historical context through guided tours or information boards can deepen your appreciation for this remarkable place. The surrounding area of Taman Sari is vibrant and bustling, with local shops and street food stalls adding to the experience. Take the time to explore the narrow alleys and immerse yourself in the local atmosphere. Visiting Taman Sari is not only a visual feast but also a cultural journey. It's a chance to connect with the rich heritage of Yogyakarta and gain a deeper understanding of the city's history. One thing to note is that the site can get crowded, especially during peak hours. To fully enjoy the tranquility and architectural beauty, it's advisable to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon. Overall, Taman Sari is a must-visit attraction in Yogyakarta for history enthusiasts, architecture lovers, and anyone seeking a glimpse into the region's royal past. Its captivating beauty, cultural significance, and immersive experience make it a truly memorable destination.

This water castle park is in the form of ancient building looks so majestic with many beautiful sight especially the bathing complex. A must visit place whenever you're in yogya. Mostly visitors took pictures in every corner of the area. There are tour guides available if you want to get a better explanation on every part of the castles. Not much of written descriptions available and also direction, so you might need to ask assistance of a guide.

based on my friends experience who have been here before there are lots of sections that are now not available for visitors anymore. i went here at noon so it was scorching hot. it'd be best to visit the place when it's less hot like in the morning around 9 or 10am. there are plenty tour guides who can show you around the place along with its history. there are plenty parking spaces, coffeeshops and food stall vendors around the entrance if you want to grab some food/drinks.

I was going to this tourism destination together with my friend who was also acting as a personal toyr guide for me. He brought me to every corner of the site, including the old buildings, the tunnel, the well known pond, and the village surrounding the site. I think this is one of the top priority sites to visit if you go to Yogyakarta. Moreover, the back story about this location is quite unique, which was used as the place for the king's concubine (or wife? I quite forget).

Tourism object with historical sites of Sultan Yogyakarta. There is water castle area where you can take photos and videos with beautiful scenery. Tour guides are provided with additional charge (exclude ticket price), they will assist you to tell the history of Taman sari or even help you to take some pictures of you.

This is the bathing place of Sultan Yogyakarta and his concubines. While the building is old we can still very much see and feel its beauty. Using local guide while visiting is highly recommended for two reasons; you can hear the historical story of the place and you can have your pictures taken beautifully.

I love abandoned places, so naturally this old water castle caught my interest. It was formerly a royal garden of the Sultantane of Yogyakarta There are some spooky rooms with very old furniture and structures, but the castle is ruined by algae, and excessive humidity over time. There wasn't much to see, but a bunch of teenagers taking pictures at every corner, being noisy and not respecting the castle. I would have loved some guide or information about the place, but there was none

A historical place from Hamengkubuwono I era. It is a bathing place for Sultan, his harem and their kids. If you want to visit here, I strongly recommend you to hire a guide (official one wear name tags) because the site is scattered among the local residents area. Oh and during weekend is SUPER-PACKED. If you want a clearer area, please visit early in the morning on weekdays. And the area (underground mosque and the aesthetic stairs) where you mostly find people's pictures on instagram is already closed due to unknown reason.

The castle is pretty but I recommend to have a guide. I didn’t have a guide so I was left rather confused walking the entire rooms and just taking some photos. It was a clear day so the photos turned out nice but it would have a better experience if I had a guide. So get one when you visit!

Obviously a great place to visit. Real downside though are the guides that sometimes ask not so nicely for you to hire them and you might or might not need to find the underground tunnel, parts that should be clearly shown by signs. A supervisor in Taman Sari kindly shared with me which way to go but with the instructions and good portion of luck I found it. Why not raise entrance fees a little and just make it a much easier and more pleasant experience for the visitor by clear signage to all the relevant places. Some descriptions and explanations would also be helpful - but I guess would defeat the purpose of the guides. I wish this was handled better from official / organizing side. Rather limited opening hours from 9am to 3pm.

Spent a good couple of hours here. Guided tour was really informative explaining the history & use of the various areas. The restoration of the pools & buildings etc gives you an indication of the sheer scale & beauty of the Royal Palace when it was originally in use. Beautiful stone carvings adorned walls & arches. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to such a jewel of a Palace at the heart of Yogyakarta.

This water castle of former royal family is dying and need more attention, be careful with the guy as local guide wearing uniform as they tend to lead you to the galery and show the painting etc hoping tourist to buy and not guide you tour entire castle properly because as we back to hotel we noticed that seems miss some parts of the castle because this guide has lead us out to exit after just go around less than 15 minute in the local galeri.

As the name implies, this place was used as a garden with a pool for bathing the princesses and princes. There a tower to see the beautiful Yogyakarta's city. The building has a sauna's room and a mosque in the basement. But now the main door of Tamansari has changed become a citizen's village. Tamansari entrance is at the back, the entrance ticket is around five thousand rupiah. In the inside you can take photos with ur camera or handphone but for camera you should ask for some regulation*, you can shop for souvenirs and take tour w/ tour guide explaining the history of Tamansari. you can use a car or motorbike to go to Tamansari.

This local heritage spot used to be the place for palace Princesses to bathe, and other purposes. It is a beautiful complex of pools, underground tunnels, and mosque located near Kraton with friendly residents in the surrounding area :) To enter, you have to queue for numbers and local guides will group you together for a tour. The entrance price you pay depends on the group size. The crowd is quite big during the weekend.

Very interesting place to visit while visiting Yogyakarta. This is the Sultan's cooling off and rest area. Make sure you visit the tower to see the Sultan's extracurricular room where he enjoyed the company of his wives and concubine. This stop should only take 1-1.5 hrs of your time.

This place is beautiful. It shows the pools and recreation area of the former sultans. The location is still in good condition even though here and there it requires a bit of renovation. What made me sad is the fact that everywhere you see trash laying around. This should not be the case especially because there are local people living and working there. They should collect the trash and recycle them. Leaving the trash on the floor will keep especially foreign visitors away and this will not serve anybody. Tolong bersihkan tempat sampah.

It’s a very pretty place, but quite crowded and not well marked aside from the pools, a lot of the points of interest are inaccessible or unable to find without a guide. luckily I bought some coffee from a local and they were willing to point me on the right direction to see some sights, you will only see a small part of Taman Sari unless you go with someone who knows the area

I visited during pandemic and the management is highly concerned about health protocols. You'll be divided into a group min 5 people, max 10 added with 1 tour guide to manage the tour flow between one and another group. Each group will be on a safe distance & try to not meet each other. The tour ticket + guide tour (100k) will be divided by the people in a group the more the cheaper lol I like it because the tour guide is very helpful & telling the story with jokes. He also help each of the tourists to take a good photo spot. He also very understanding about the kids which sometimes he can delay or quicker the tour depends on the kid's needs. Btw the mosque area is closed and no visitors allowed to enter since the covid19. So worth it if you went to Yogya, plan to visit Taman Sari!

Couldn’t get into the temple itself because it was closed. The area is definitely worth exploration though. Very beautiful houses in the surrounding kampung. Met a couple of very friendly people including one construction worker who told us he earns about 70,000 rupiah per day – about five American dollars – and learned English from reading a dictionary and listening to tour guides.

What a beautiful place. As a history enthusiast, I was thrilled to see this historic water palace up close. The place was aesthetically pleasing, and I was able to take plenty of beautiful photos. One thing that stood out to me was the availability of tour guides. There were quite a lot of tour guides in the area, and they were very knowledgeable about the history and significance of Taman Sari. They were also willing to answer any questions that I had and provided interesting insights into the palace's past. However, the only downside was the limited parking space. The parking lot was not very big, but luckily I was still able to find a spot to park my vehicle. Despite this minor inconvenience, I would still highly recommend visiting Taman Sari. It is a must-see destination for anyone interested in history and architecture. Just be prepared to deal with limited parking space

Taman sari is one of popular place for vacation in yogyakarta. Its really cheap but the place has history value. It is former javanese palace (keraton). With really cool architecture and the pool inside taman sari. Its remind me Mexican architecture mixture with javanese reliefs. If you not from Yogyakarta, I recommend you to use tour guide facilities for 100k. They will inform the history aspect of the place and feel more immersive experience with the place.

worth a shot if in the area, but not incredible. that said there’s a nice walk you can do in the back streets if you get a guide, however the guides will bring you to some shopping; the wares are actually nice, but it’s not whatever everyone wants (guides are paid in donations you decide). i got a quality Javanese batik sarong after some annoying haggling. the grounds are nice and the tour can be done in 15 minutes. combine this with lunch at the bale raos restaurant down the street and the museum at the south end of marliboro street.

I'm in love with the view! Have to visit but not during a peak season because there were a lot of people during the school holidays. Everything was great, the weather, the color, just everything! You got to experience the Yogyakarta village after coming out of the place too, feels homey.

Enchanted place, the story said that the king love to watched his wives and concubines took bath here.. The place had a renovation, so now its cleaner and there are some local food seller inside where you can enjoy local drinks. You can ask for a local guide to tell the history of this place. And before entering the place, prepared you peduli lindungi app.

Beautiful water palace ground's built for the king's sultan of the region. Definitely must visit probably takes 4hrs to slowly walk around the castle grounds. Locals have built on the site as the area is massive. You can get a bit lost in the grounds. The main entrance they sell tickets at $25000 rupiah.

I had a great time here walking around and taking pictures. My favourite part was seeing how the families who work at the Palace live in the area around it. There's a combination of old and new it a very aesthetic kind of way and an incredibly peaceful energy!

👍👍 The old buildings, the street and the attraction is really something. The vibes of surrounding are giving another sense of Jogja at the old times. Walking a bit, you'll find Keraton which is the king's palace and also the famous Malioboro street. Evening to the night time is a perfect timing here.
