A really busy, bustling street on a Sunday evening. As a foreigner, many people wanted to talk, have a photo taken or offer a ride. All very polite. Lots of shops and lots to eat and drink. A "must do" in Yogja.

Nice famous touristic street in Yogyakarta. A lot of locals selling T-shirts, local food and other tourist articles. Many drivers will propose you a tour of the surroundings with becak or horse carriage for a very affordable price. Nothing much to do there, but you cannot miss a walk along Malioboro street during your stay in Yogyakarta.

It's a big long walking street full with souvenir shops, batik clothes and local foods. At night time, especially the weekend it can be very crowded with local tourists. Apart from that, nothing much to see and not so many choices of restaurants either.

One stop shopping center in Jogja. This number 1 tourist attraction always on bucket list. Here, find a lot souvenir shops, mall, and traditional market. Nowadays, the pedestrian is clean, clear from souvenir stall, and wide. For someone enjoying walking around and shopping, it is a good choice.

The iconic of Jogjakarta. A famous street where you can find souvenirs, shopping malls, culinary centre, and other unique Jogja, such as becak, Andong (horse driven wagon), and many more. To be here is a most when you visited Jogjakarta...

nice destination, so many choice. you can eat traditional and authentic food from yogyakarta here. always crowded at night but so spacious. the price is now fixed so no need worry to get decieved again. i think there is one price policy so you just need to choose what you want to eat. you can also buy some souvenirs here. i suggest you go to bakpia 25 by tryccicle. its so affordable and you can sight seeing while wait to go to your destination. if you want to find cheap souvenirs, this place is your heaven.

Packed with Indonesians as was 4 day holiday. Lots of repetitive shops not our taste but locals loved them.

Super crowded. It's just a street with shops around the street. One of the good places to visit and buy souvenirs. There are several fast food restos and convenient stores.

I'm happy walking here, each side many people sell like souvenir can you get such as Batik, shirt, T-shirt, and many kind of foods. The side of road, there are some pedicab can deliver you going around Malioboro. I feel the facilities here almost perfect, beside Malioboro there is market the name "Beringharjo", mall like Ramayana, and there is mosque and another cafe can you visiting. Have nice trip to here :).

Last time goes to Jogja in 2018. This street has changed so much and kinda lost its authenticity. But the positive side is the street become more clean & tidy. It still a must visit place while you're in Jogja, just go for a walk, having some foods, or buy some gift/souvenir.

From 17.00 to 22.00 the road is closed (motorized vehicles cannot pass), street vendors can no longer sell on the side of the road so if you want to buy souvenirs or cheap things, you can visit Teras Malioboro 1 and 2. There are lots of souvenir shops, batik, entertainment and food. At several points on this road, there was a very strong smell of urine due to the urine of the many carriage horses along this road

Walk along the streets of Malioboro and learn about the culture of Indonesia. Hope I can come back soon and stay a little longer. Museums are also everywhere and they close around night time...

Malioboro Yogyakarta is very famous throughout Indonesia because it is the icon of the city of Yogyakarta. I really like this place and the best time to come here is a public holiday or weekend, it just gets busy and quite congested. lots of good photo spots, there is also a carriage if you want to ride and it is suitable as a place to hang out too. If you are looking for souvenirs, you can also come to this area. If you are good at bargaining, you can go to Beringharjo market because it is very complete there, there are all kinds of souvenirs and the prices are also affordable. For those who are lazy with crowds and too lazy to bargain, there are also lots of shophouses selling around there and the prices are reasonable... As people say, you haven't been to Jogja if you haven't gone to Malioboro. , ha ha ha

Always pleased to visit here. Last visit was back in 2019, all street vendor were there. But now they moved to a 2 separate dedicated area which make the street cleaner. They also unable the gojek and grab application after 6 PM, which is great as the local "bentor" and other traditional transportation will have more customers. Can't wait to come back again!!

One of the most iconic place to visit in Yogyakarta. Clean and convinient to visit, buy some handcraft and batik, place to eat, take a pictures, ride tradisional rickshaw or "delman".

  • 4/5 Friska A. 11 months ago on Google
The most famous place in Yogyakarta. The traffic was so crazy but so many recommended foods there, the price is so cheap. The thing that I don't feel comfortable is the street musicians, I can't even enjoy my time bcs a lot of street musicians came over.

  • 5/5 Melmeleats 10 months ago on Google
Very happening throughout the day, but especially at night with lots of street vendors, live music including traditional and modern music! Lots of food to choose from, batik shopping etc! A fun place to be at!

Exploring Malioboro Street was a dynamic experience. It was filled with a blend of history in the form of fascinating museums and enticing food corners at every nook. Amidst the hustle of becaks, horse carriages, and spirited vendors, there was a sense of the city's lively rhythm. However, my experience in the batik shops was slightly different. While they were filled with beautiful, brightly patterned fabrics, I couldn't help but notice a lack of variety. Many shops seemed to be selling the same items, which was somewhat disappointing. I was hoping to see more unique pieces in each store, a wider range of patterns, colors, and styles to choose from. In spite of this, I managed to find excitement in a short, unique horse carriage ride. It cost IDR 150,000 for a quick 10-minute tour of Malioboro, allowing me a different perspective on the bustling life around me. For those interested in experiencing the raw energy of a city, Malioboro Street is a must-visit. Despite the sameness in batik offerings, the overall experience is a vibrant glimpse into the pulse of urban life.

Long walk down a busy street. Much culture and history to soak in along the way, with well curated museums, batik shops and food stops. Be patient and put up with the hustling becaks, horses and vendors.

Exploring Malioboro street, hopping into cafes, and sampling street food was an enchanting journey that left a lasting impression on me. The vibrant culture, lively atmosphere, and delectable culinary offering made it an experience worth cherishing. Whether you're history enthusiast, a shopaholic, a food lover, or someone seeking to immerse yourself in the heart of Yogyakarta, malioboro streets should be at the top of your travel list.

I took this road in Sunday morning.. so it's not crowded by people. There are some people doing jogging or aerobic.. sadly some parts of the road are smelly, maybe from activities late night until the sunrise.

You haven’t been to Yogyakarta if you haven’t squeezed yourself into the crowd of Malioboro. Often they have some festivals going on. If Chicago have 5th avenue, Marrakech have Jeema el-Fnaa, Yogyakarta have Malioboro which kind of the mix of both. I wish it were cleaner - as a lot of people can be quite nasty with their trashes. Best visit during the evening when the weather is not as hot.

  • 5/5 Sinta T. 6 months ago on Google
It always crowded everyday and even more during the weekend. There's so many smoke around because of satay it probably will make your hair and clothes smells bad.

Perfect place to stroll around leisurely, rather crowded at night, but still relaxing either way. Lots of things to see, try, and go shop for. It won't be Jogja without Malioboro.

The infamous Malioboro street, selling from foods and beverages to clothings and accessories. After PPKM, this street now open again with almost its full capacity, but still implementing health protocols. Days and nights have the same crowdness. Last but not least, be extra carefull of pick pocket!

  • 4/5 Indi the A. 2 years ago on Google
I never imagined Malioboro would be that crowded. What I couldn't stand are smokes from smoking people and quite pricey "lesehan" foods. But I still love those place after all. And I still wanna go back here again and again.

Not so crowded. There were many stores that have no customers at all. Don't forget to choose Becak to accompany your trip in Malioboro! There were so many of them alongside the street. People seemed to choose modern online transportation apps, they leave behind the traditional one.

Shopping street. The shops are mostly clothes, tourist biscuits, and souvenirs. Plenty of street vendors and horse drawn carriages. A baazar in the middle of the stretch, selling all kinds of stuff and at the end of the other side is foodstuff. Good place to savour local Yogyakarta fare, especially the fame gudeg. Evening there is march pass of the local band.

Nice location, one of many icon of Jogja. Lots of culinary choices, traditional handy craft, gifts, ect. Good spot for photoshoot, hangout, but also too crowded as hell at weekend. Parking area too small and very expensive when using unofficial parking slot. Overall its Jogja baby, enjoy it.!

A very long road with big pedestrian walking space, surrounded with plenty of batik, food, and drinks store. The road is very beautiful at night with a lot of delman (Horse-drawn carriage) to enhance your experience

  • 4/5 Le B. 1 year ago on Google
it was very vibrant and lively, which made the street exciting. there were many shops selling rather unique souvenirs and so on. however it's status compared to e.g. bangkok has been hampered by the fact many of the street sellers have been shifted to 2 centralised buildings called "teras" so some of the vibe has been killed. despite that, it means that the cleanliness of the street is amazing and there are more space for pedestrians now, making it more friendly for tourists.

Before the pandemic this place is packed with tourist everyday, domestic and international tourist will definitely come here when visiting Jogja. The place really packed especially in the evening and during the weekend or public holiday. Many great performance of music and dance. Along the way many shop and food stall with variety of Indonesian food to choose for. While you enjoy your food at one of the stall you can watch live band, or music performance. There are also cafe with their own live music. Many store sale local souvenirs. You can eat, shop, and enjoy great time here!

    * Pedestrian friendly * many food tenants from traditional snacks typical of Jogjakarta such as "Gudeg" to fast food or Gelato and brunch is widely available and the prices are affordable. * Close to Tugu Station, Fort Vredeberg Museum, shopping malls. * If you want to leave your suitcase or luggage, you can easily find locker care at a price of IDR. 20k/hour * can get around Malioboro by horse carriage "Andong" or "Becak" *The local people are very friendly

Good place to buy batiks and see more locals. Not very interesting as there are way many stores selling the same thing. Only good thing is to soak in the ambience and walk down the long stretch of roads during morning, evening and night!
