I had an excellent stay at the Hotel on Pownal. It's a place I'd booked a few times for my husband and I but wound up having to cancel trips due to unexpected circumstances. However, in January, I had to get away for a few days of rest and it was the best thing I could have done for myself. I originally booked two nights, but ended up extending my stay by an extra night. The room was lovely and clean with modern furnishings. It was very quiet and the staff were warm and friendly. I will most certainly stay again.

A fairly old hotel in the heart of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Ilsand. The location is nice and the service was okay. The hotel room was fairly old and the heaters weren't effective. A lot of cold seeping in from the windows which are not properly insulated. The breakfast was nice and had a good range of selection

Great location. Our room was decent. Bed was comfortable but AC unit didn't work very well. Breakfast buffet was reasonably good. Loved the cookies at the front desk and the "happy hour" free drink was a nice touch.

Let's start with the positive. The hotel is in a great location. Now for the rest. The room lighting is inadequate. They cheaped out on the number of pot lights and lamps which makes the rooms dungeonous in the evenings or when you need to close the blinds. Yet, the blinds do a poor job at blocking out the light from outside in the evenings. There was garbage/waste/hotel supplies left outside of our door for the entirety of our stay. There weren't enough waste receptacles in the rooms. The televisions didn't work. There was no telephone in the family suite. These problems are fixable, but the staff were apathetic. The breakfast was poor. If you are content with cereal and toast, you'll be fine. This hotel appeared to be renovated in a way which cut corners whenever they could. At least the location is good. Would not return.

Rooms were great, except our TV didn't work. We got a new room and a giftcard to use out on the town. The service was most excellent and the second room was awesome. I over paid for this visit but if I can score a price for what it's worth, I would stay again. But I would inquire about the breakfast, as it is not what I was expecting.

This hotel is in a good location, very close to lots of restaurants, stores etc. the hotel itself was okay. Staff is friendly and rooms seem clean. I’m giving the hotel a 3 star rating because of where our room was located and the view from our window. I was super disappointed and uncomfortable. When I asked to change rooms and gave them the reason, I was told they were full. If you stay at this hotel, make sure you ask for a room that is not facing the apartments in the back. I’ve attached pictures.

The staff is fantastic -- lovely and helpful-- and the location is excellent. My only complaint is that my room smelled musty, even with the windows open. Otherwise, a great stay.

A very nice hotel. Our second time here. Great location. Simple breakfast included. Roo.s are clean and nicely renovated. My only negative, our room had a window to the back yard which had an old mattress and some other junk thrown there. 🙃

Cute boutique style hotel walking distance to restaurants, shops, the harbor front and more. Friendly front desk staff ready to help with whatever you need. A nice basic breakfast was included. Rooms were clean and modern and parking was free. Nothing more we could have asked for. Highly recommend this hotel.

I have to say this is one of the top hotel I have stayed in my east coast trip. We stayed at a room near their conference centre. The room feels newly renovated, enough space, in room climate control. Complimentary Parking right outside. They even provide complimentary drink weekdays from 5-6pm, we got a glass of wine and a beer, very impressive. Home made cookie at the reception was very tasty and make us feel at home. Full Breakfast is good too, there is sausage, egg, bread, etc. the only thing is that we can hear above floor, and there is basically no view in our room, however didn’t bother us at all. Still enjoyed the stay very much!

Rooms were modest but clean. Good location for walking to sights and restaurants. Hotel needs some maintenance. Staff were helpful in resolving issues. The breakfast they provided was sub par. We ended up going out to eat because it was limited and unappetizing.

Beautiful Hotel, Very Friendly staff, and you get a free deluxe breakfast, there is no Restaurant on site but lots close by. The Tub was a little small had to have my knees bent to soak in the tub. it is in a great location in downtown Charlottetown. close to shopping, Restaurants, bars, the beautiful waterfront,

I was booked into a room where a bunch of hockey teams (kids) were staying and the conditions were...well, less than quiet or relaxing, to say the least. The front desk staff member was quick to accommodate a room change for me, making sure I was away from the majority of the players' rooms. She was polite, apologetic and even offered to help carry my luggage to the second floor. (Initial room was on the first floor.) I had a much more pleasant stay than I would have in the other room, and I am grateful for her professionalism and courtesy. This was my second stay at the hotel. The staff has always been friendly, the rooms are exceptionally well-kept, and the complimentary breakfast is a wonderful added touch. I also like the option of being able to book a room inside the hotel or a drive-up unit with a separate, private, outdoor access to the room. I will certainly be back and would highly recommended The Hotel on Pownal to anyone looking for a clean, affordable, and convenient stay in downtown Charlottetown.

Located close to downtown, walking distance to many restaurants and entertainment venues. Very friendly staff. Nicely decorated. Clean rooms. Good value for the money. (Only concern would be a bit of noise from the parking lot right outside the ground floor rooms and not the best views, but the price reflects that) 4.5 Stars out of 5

Good to great rooms. Day service was great, evening staff was not. Breakfast could use some variety.

I’m travelling from Toronto to the East Coast and have stayed in several different hotels; This hotel is my favourite. The prime downtown location, their green initiatives, complimentary social hour and free bike rentals are just a few reasons why we recommend this hotel. Our room is newly renovated, clean and has everything we need for our stay. Joee at the front desk is incredible. His customer service and hospitality has exceeded our expectations. Joee has gone above and beyond to ensure our stay and experience in PEI is the best it can be. 5/5 we highly recommend you stay here!

The rooms are nice, the breakfast is amazing (hot meal, eggs, sausage, toast, yogurt, fruit, cereal), the staff were very friendly. If they had an elevator I would have given 5.

First off no elevators. Their web site should clearly indicate this. We originally booked one night but added two nights later. As a result we had a different room each night. on second morning front desk said we could stay in our existing room another night. Later on our way to Summerside they called and said they made a mistake and we had to move. Only option we were given was for them to move our belongings which we were not thrilled with. Also the breakfasts were poor. They consistently ran out of items and took a long time to replenish. The rooms are ok but not great. We were on the first floor (still had to do stairs to get to lobby and breakfast) and we could here people walking above us.

Spacious room. Parking included. Very clean. Service at front desk was great as well, 24/7 service. No complaints. Walking distance to downtown Charlottetown.

Visited Charlottetown to celebrate our wedding anniversary and hotel staff surprised us with a suite upgrade, wine bottle and fudge! Totally unexpected, but greatly appreciated. We're convinced we would have enjoyed our stay in a regular room, but they stepped up. Thank you!

Perfect location for anything downtown. Older motel style reasonably well refurbished. Portable AC until was far to noisy to use but we stayed in September and had it cool room while we were out and did not need it. Bed was very comfortable and room was quiet over night. Overall, pleased with our stay.

My wife and I stayed for two nights just for a break after Hurricane Fiona. We were offered a storm rate for the two nights, which was one of the best rates in town. The front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. We had breakfast both mornings and it was quite varied and delicious. The rooms were modern and clean and the staff were very attentive to the couple of deficiencies we found. I would definitely recommend a stay at this fine establishment.

Small hotel. If you have mobility issues this is not the hotel for you as there is no elevators to reception or 2nd floor. Overall ok place to stay. Complimentary bikes are available if you want to do a bike ride of the city.

Very nice hotel, parking and breakfast included that is great! Staff is very polite and helpful. It is very well located as well. Walking distance from the downtown even from the ocean. Totally recommend it.

Very modern construction in good downtown location. There is a full hot breakfast with plenty of food variety just no meat. Only 4 stars because the room is a bit small for 2 people.
