Great food and drinks. Reasonable prices. The app makes the ordering convenient and quick. Friendly helpful staff. Definitely recommend and will go again. Their loaded fries is amazing. 😍

What a disappointment all round. Weatherspoons promote use our app to order, on this visit the signal was poor in the bar and when I asked about connecting to the internet to place my order a staff member said, yes it's bad today and walked off. I ordered my food from the bar, a chicken curry. My food arrived pretty quickly, pictures attached. I decided to break my poppadom in half and to my surprise it bent in half without cracking wow. The rice I put my fork in and could pick up the whole of the rice on my plate, it was just a big clump of rice. I appreciate you pay for what you get but there is a limit to what is acceptable and this pub food was shocking. On the previous night I went to the Postern gate another weatherspoons about 15 minutes walk from The Punch Bowl and this is so much better.

This was a fabulous restaurant to eat and drink at, having designs that invoked the historical culture of York! The chandeliers on the ceiling make for beautiful lighting too and Easter decorations have been put up, channelling the seasonal spirit. Me and my friend sat a very clean table, where we were served our food and drink promptly. The pulled chicken wrap was delicious as were the peas, having a great level of warmth! The lady who took my order was really nice, asking if I wanted ice with my J20, which was a gorgeous drink.

I don’t lie when I say this is probably the best burger I have had from a Wetherspoons. Pub was really nice and quiet and food was very hot and quick to arrive.

Enjoyed a traditional breakfast here this morning, for the price you really can’t complain, quick, easy, and tasty, does for me 👍

I definitely would not recommend this establishment. I ordered on the app. The staff we so busy having a good old chat away from the bar that I had to collect the drinks myself. The food was cold, once again no staff to complain to as they were still putting the world to rights. I did eventually manage to ask a member of staff if I could have some water and was told to get it myself. When we left the staff , all 4 of them were still having a great time sitting at a table discussing something important, it certainly wasn’t anything to do with customer satisfaction

Really disappointed in this place, been before and it was good. This time ..oh dear, waiting time...forever, bar service...slooow, food awful. 2 of us had lemon and herb ½ chicken, tough, over cooked, strange taste, worst meal I've ever had in Spoons. Will we go back....no, nay, never.

Always pop in a Spoons, decent quick bite to eat before hitting the awesome pubs & bars in York. Only an hour away on the train from Hull. Always a great place to visit!

Service prompt and professional, although when steak arrived noticeable extremely fatty! Waitress did offer to exchange and big mistake on my part, as short on time for train, said it'll be ok, doh!!!! Really should have as even inside not nice, only myself to blame, bummer! Hey Ho, lesson learnt!

Nice wee place, great location. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The weather that day was a record high of 40°C, so we were very grateful for how cool and airy it was inside. Food and drink came out in good time, and was all hot and fresh. Only giving 4 stars as the bathrooms were a bit yucky, but that's typical of any bathroom in a public place.

Nice food, very reasonable price and quick service. Only 4 stars because rather than hunting down numerous little sticky ketchup packages I brought my own bottle of ketchup in. Come on Wetherspoons bring back condiments on the table

This place has the best Wetherspoons Fish & Chips we have had , worth a visit but if you use Wetherspoons app make sure you get the right pub when in York.

One of the few places we found in York open for food later on a Sunday night. The staff were lovely. The food was good (had the cauliflower curry with a side of chicken bites with soy dip). Quite quiet, but good atmosphere.

It's a nice pub, and I have had some good food here back in 2019, however the last time I was here the breakfast was so bad we had to leave half of it. We purchased them on the vouchers back in autumn 2022, so only paid a few pounds each, however edibility is one criterion I expect for any money. This didn't meet it. Will not eat here again, but will go in for drinks.

Good food, recommend the pasta Alfredo. Some of the problems include: there was a 16 minute wait for food (not so bad) but it quickly turned to 1 hour. There was A lipstick mark on the rim of the glass. And the app didn't work when we (attempted) to order pudding. Good visit, I'm sure these issues were because it was busy.

Really tasty food, with a great burger, lovely onion rings and tasty chips. The service was great, and pretty fast considering how busy it was. And there was a great thronging atmosphere with people on the odd Christmas meal out and a busy bustling vibe. Just docked a point as the chips were very nearly cold when the food arrived. Still tasty, but worth noting.

I recently dined at The Punch Bowl restaurant in York Wetherspoon, and my experience was quite satisfactory. The food, while not exceptional, met my expectations. The menu offered a variety of options, and the dishes I tried were decent, providing a satisfactory dining experience without standing out. The cleanliness of the establishment was noteworthy, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. One of the highlights of my visit was the excellent service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient, enhancing the overall dining experience. Whether it was taking orders, refilling drinks, or addressing inquiries, the service staff displayed professionalism throughout. The ambiance was comfortable, and the restaurant had a welcoming feel. While it may not be the ideal spot for a gourmet dining experience, The Punch Bowl serves its purpose as a reliable and convenient option. For those looking for a casual meal in a clean environment with good service, this Wetherspoon establishment in York is a suitable choice. Overall, my visit was positive, and I would consider returning for a straightforward and hassle-free dining experience.

Best fish and chips ever. The fiesta burger was also crispy, hot and super tasty. Will return!

Breakfast was awesome and low key. Locals having early pints:). Good vegetarian options. Need phone to order in restaurant, works well, staff will help, if unsure just ask behind bar.

Place was nice, but we had a breakfast. The toast was very hard, the meal was cool. The lady said, the toaster had broke down a couple of weeks ago and they were doing the toast on the planchet. She did ask if I wanted anything else, but, I was part way through it. I should of taken it back at the beginning

Very popular. Cheap drinks and food. Over the railway bridge at the front. Turn right 5-10 mins. Outside seating also.

Went in for breakfast this morning, ordered through the app and promptly got given my mug for refillable coffee and informed that there would be a 15 minute wait on food as the kitchen were having an 'unexpected refit', not a problem. An hour passed and still no sign of my food, had places to be so I asked for a refund. Sophie dealt with it promptly and professionally, explaining how I would receive the refund and what to do if I didn't receive it, she also explained that apparently none of the staff knew about the refit and apologised. These things can't be helped I get it, 10/10 for service, maybe just have a sign up or something next time.

Fantastic to see the venue was so busy. Rammed in all fairness. Tables could be cleared quicker. Ordered our drinks but once they arrived I was not informed where the coffee machine was . The toilets were not great, broken flush plate and doors, no toilet paper in some toilets and no soap in the dispenser. This was strange as there was a member of staff in the toilets wiping the surface down but didn't check anything else and just left.

It's one of the better spoons I've been to. The people working there don't seem miserable. The real ale selection is normally fairly good. People are generally pleasant. And the toilet at least for the men's is fairly close so I'm not winded when I have to go.

Visiting York for a one-day trip and decided to try the Wetherspoon. It’s my first time visiting one. I asked the person at the counter how it works ordered everything on the app to my table. I love the service friendly and helpful.I will come back again. (Edit: as the other reviewers said it’s a bit crowdy and noisy love the place though.)

There for the mini beer fest this time. It's a 'spoons - cheap and cheerful and one of the better ones.

Absolutely brilliant pub. Staff are very organised and it runs like clockwork. Girl who brought our food told us she can do 30,000 steps a day!!!! She was so efficient!!! Football was on so pub quite busy but that certainly didn’t affect our experience. Brilliant service!!!

A well staffed pub in a good location a short walk 🚶‍♀️ from the railway station 🚉 and just on the outskirts of the city walls.

It was my/our first time having a meal there. The staff are friendly. It was busy. It has a good atmosphere. Yet the food portion was small as they advertised a new dish steak & kidney pie with either chips or mash potato.& peas. Yes it was nice. The pastry was good & plenty of steak & kidney filling in the pie .well done chef. Yet I don't understand why there was a small portion of mash potatoes. True you could be running low on potatoes. & true the diner might not want a larger portion of mash potatoes. Yet for diners; always say if there is a problem or ask if the diner would like a larger portion. yes we will be back Come one come all.

Had breakfast here and it was well needed after a night out around the various pubs and bars with my wife. Always know you can count on a wetherspoons for a nice breakfast we didn't know the area well enough yet to find a nice cafe that does banging fry up so we played it safe. I will be more then happy to eat more until find somewhere else we can go.

What a great place! I visited this place with friends for a meal last week. Went back the next night with my husband and Ben (who served us the previous night) remembered us and said how lovely it was to see us again. He works very hard to give the personal touch and deserves a bonus is some sort. The food was excellent; mixed grill for my husband and baked potato for me. I tasted Porter for the first time as my hubby had a pint with his meal and I had a sip. Lovely! I had tea with my food and enjoyed a free refill. The value for money is amazing, the food tasted really good and there is plenty of it, but the best bit is the atmosphere and the welcome. Thank you to Ben and the team. We will return on our next visit to York.
