On our first trip to Japan in 1956, my family traveled on the Hikawamaru. I include a picture of my mother, Katherine Crouch with my brothers and me on the deck next to a life preserver with the vessel's name partially visible. Also images from the manifest. My father, Marshall Crouch, came as a Fulbright professor (room 215). My mother, my brothers and I were in room 211. (at the bottom of the First Class listing). I have since visited the ship in Yokohama where it is docked as a museum. (ticket scan included)

Wow this was a really nice self guided tour of an old cruise / hospital ship. The ship is permanently moored in Yokohama. The ship is very well maintained and surprisingly clean and well refurbished. The price is really reasonable as well and was only 300 yen. If your in Yokohama you have Ed to check this out

We saw this ship while walking around the park and decided to visit it. Tickets are not that expensive. The ship is very well preserved and maintained. Everything is explained in english also. The view of Yokohama from the ship is also nice.

A very cool cruise ship to explore, kinda reminded me of the Queen Mary in Longbeach California but smaller and less luxurious. It was nonetheless still a good experience to see what it looks like on the inside. You get to see the first class cabins and common areas. The entrance fees was also very reasonable. I had fun!

Wonderful ship "The Queen of the Pacific", standing as a History !! She was one of the only two Japanese ships to have survived in the World War 2.. A must go place in Yokohama.. Lovely & Royal interiors.. You can enjoy the beauty of the park from the upper deck.. Entrance Fee costs only 300 Yen.

Really nice historical ship, very well preserved. At 300 yen it's a steal. A history lesson worth while.

I discovered this quite by accident, I was visiting the Gundam Factory and had some extra time before my tour. You know what? I enjoyed this more! It's inexpensive, not too crowded and very educational. Looking at the various class accommodations, number of passengers, old documents, costs etc. reminded me how difficult it was to make the ocean crossing. A good companion to visit along with the Nippon Maru sailing ship and other museums in the area.

Very reasonably priced and informative. There are cabin rooms, dining room, engine room, and many other intriguing components of this legendary ship to visit. The history of this Cruise ship is also educative.

A Japanese Passenger Cruise to and from Japan and US in the 1930s and now permanently docked in Yokohama as a museum. Admission is very reasonable 300Yen but cash only. No food or pets are allowed on board. Need to walk up and down the stairs to access different level of decks. Very well restored. Closes at 4.30pm.

Had a fantastic time visiting this historical ship. Arguably the most famous luxury ship of its time to ply the route connecting Yokohama, Japan to Seattle, United States. Was truly enamored by the colorful history of the ship - from a high end luxury ship sailing across the seven seas to being conscripted into the military services carrying and tending wounded soldiers. And spending its retirement days in the dock of Yokohama as a floating restaurant and event venue. A visit to the ship lets you view the various sections of the ship from during its heydays. From the high end dining areas, accommodations of guests and crews, the engine room to the bridge of the ship, everything was well kept and maintained. You could stroll along the deck of the ship or climb up to the bridge to have some beautiful views of the Yokohama dock and surrounding area. There is a gallery portraying the chronological events and key moments of the ship as well as heart felt notes left by people whose lives have crossed path with the ship in one way or another.

A beautiful WW2 era ship in excellent condition. The tickets are cheap and the wait was not bad, so there's very little reason to not visit this amazing piece of history. The interior is restored tastefully and it does feel like you're witnessing close to its original state as possible. The signs and displays are informative and accomodate english tourists as well, which leads to a highly educational and entertaining experience. Would recommend going here for sightseeing especially since it is directly in front of the flower garden.

Visiting this ship museum is a fantastic opportunity to see one of the most luxurious vessels from its era, and the only remaining prewar Japanese passenger ship. Guests can appreciate the scenic harbor views while marveling at the intricate details of the ship's interior. From the opulent cabins that once accommodated royalty, to the engine room and the bridge, this museum offers a truly immersive experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit

Went to see the Gundam robot but this was actually a better attraction. 300 yen is a bargain to something with ao much history. Plus you can watch the Gundam from on deck too!!

This is worthy of being one of Yokohama’s most iconic and symbolic spots. The Hikawa Maru is a magnificent historical landmark and testament of Japan’s long and arduous maritime history, the fact that this wonderful ship has been preserved in such a way to enlighten future generations of the history of Japan’s pre and post war period, is quite impressive.

In my opinion, this place is better when visited from the outside. I’ve been to several ship museums and the experience here was just meh. Perhaps it’s a matter of personal preference, but I definitely prefer visiting battleship museums compared to civilian ship museum. It’s a piece history but not for everyone. You’d get a great view of Yokohama Bay though, but you can easily get this view from another place for free.

Excellent way to spend some time, fascinating history and all information is available in English. At ¥300 for adults and ¥100 for kids, it is excellent value. Beautiful piece of maritime history with amazing views of the Yokohama skyline. Added bonus of seeing Gundam from the deck as well!

You can visit an old luxury cruise ship for the low price of 300 yen. The stairs are steep, so the elderly and children should be careful.

A wonderful museum, where you can feel the spirit of the port city and the life of luxury society of a bygone era. Also from there you can see a beautiful view of Minatomirai district. The museum is in excellent condition, I recommend it!

if you are into japanese history and like me, fascinated about it, just go to visit, it's just 300¥ and the ship is in amazingly well preserved conditions! I went there twice, for the pleasure of taking more pictures! 🇯🇵

Nice museum. The ship has interesting history and is a legacy of times past when ocean liner luxury was celebrated for ocean crossings. The machine room was a highlight as was the captains quarters. Great views of the city, too.
