It's confusing to me why there are so many low-star reviews for this awesome youth hostel. I'm reviewing my stay here from when I visited Japan for several weeks back in 2003. Everything about my experience was great as I remember it. The bed was comfortable, the amenities and food were excellent, and the staff was hospitable, welcoming and helpful. I unfortunately don't know Japanese but was able to get all the help I needed to find certain places I was traveling to each day. This location is perfect in that I used it as a central base and used my 3-week Japan Rail pass to visit sites of interest to me easily accessible from the hostel. I hope to visit Japan again and would definitely stay here to explore more of beautiful Japan. I'd also highly recommend this youth hostel over any other in the area as the HI brand of hostels have been good for me since I started using them back in 1996. Thank you for creating such great memories for me and my trip to Japan all those years ago.

We stayed in futon room - nice futons, very comfortable, and magnificent views, you can even see Fujisan. Nearby the train station and many options to eat/drink around

Great location right next to the train station and close to shopping. The bedrooms were reasonably clean however the bathrooms were filthy and stank like urine. The shared bath was feral and smelled really bad, and had hairs floating in it. I have concerns about the cleanliness of the bedding in the bedrooms as we were not required to return pillows or blankets for cleaning when we returned the sheets. The buffet breakfast was pretty decent though and the views were great.

It is facility where international students as well as japans very own students can stay. The place is very scenic and quiet. Has almost everything within itself. And also very clean for a hostel. I did not like one thing about this place is that the bathrooms were common. It was a bit weird for me but later i came to know that it was very common in japanese culture. I had a pleasant stay there.

Its a great hostel for sure, but not sure why its has "Youth" in its name other than the fact that it has a childcare center inside the same building. Not certainly not party/drinking-friendly. Though that is fair enough ;)

Nice place for a group trip if you don't mind giving up privacy. Had breakfast there everyday. It's cheap, if that's your thing, but the building closed rather early and you're not allowed in after. Essentially an 11:00 PM curfew. It'll do for a tourist trip.

Washrooms are excellent and toilets had maximum functions. Provided bedsheets and stuff are good for a hostel and they also have free cold and hot water. Showers are very nice.

The rooms were spacious enough and airconditioning kept it cool. From my room, a large window allowed me to have a good view of the surrounding area from the 19th floor. The shower was convenient to use (albeit with a 200 yen charge for a towel if you didn't bring your own). Breakfast was not the most delicious nor the cheapest at 600 yen, but it was all you can eat. While Wi-Fi was available, it was unstable and I had to keep logging in regularly.

I would have give 5/5 but some things are really a let down Air circulation is centralised, yet the dorm room was smelly and hot, very uncomfortable especially when the room is full. Bunk bed and pillow vas hard. Best things are the location, great view from 18-19th floor. Please bear in mind that this is a youth hostel, prepare for interaction (or no) with noisy and ignorant young people.

Honestly, this is the best place I have been too regarding 3 stars or lower hotels/hostels. Services in Japan are somewhat very different from the rest of the world. Kind staff, quiet place, respectful people. I live almost everything here. The room is spacious, the bathrooms are sparking clean and big, you’ll have great showers here. The toilets are also super clean, thanks to the staff and bidets are always available. The room lacks of table but you can always find one in a common place.

I booked this hotel on April 23-24, 2023. The hotel is located above Iidabashi Train Station, which is very convenient despite the earthquake-like vibrations. The hotel is on the 18th and 19th floors, offering a great view of the city. Very friendly and helpful service with complete facilities, kitchen, lobby, dining, shared bathroom with shower concept and japanase style equipped with a mini pool for soaking (onsen), for those who are not used to bathing together will feel strange but this is unique. The rule of not being able to enter and exit the building between 11pm and 6am was not a problem. Because we would have slept well. The price is very reasonable.

Backpacker review- Rooms smell like socks and pets, under maintained, can hear the sound of trains at night. The price is low but the value for money is lower. Also, the building is locked from 11PM till 6AM, so you can’t go out or in at night.

We had a room for 2 people , it was clean and a reasonable size and had an accessible toilet. The view from the room was amazing. Plenty of shops and places to eat nearby. A couple of rules that you need to follow regarding times and shared facilities, which might not appeal to everyone. However we really enjoyed our stay there and would go back again.

First off.. being a foreigner in japan, findng this place was way too darn hard. No data on my phone, no signs any where!!! Its on the 18th floor in a very dense metropolitan area and i swear the only sign i found was on the ground floor. Man and the curfew.. got locked out of my room for three nights.. breakfast 800 yen.. the baths were disgusting, small nats flying everywhere, on top of that they restrict the time you can clean yourself.. don't even get me started on the noisy renovations.. RIGHT NEXT TO MY ROOM! Youd think they would keep the rooms that are literally 2m meters from the mega loud construction going on. On top of everything i was miss charged. For the first 4 nights i was charged 16,000 yen when my booking said much less.. these people really screwed up my first time in japan. Would NOT recommend. There was one redeeming factor of the experience, my wonderful indian roommates. Great friends!

I love this place. Came here in 2017 as well as my two sisters came here in 2018 and 2019 respectively. I'm a Ghanaian by the way. I love everything about the place. It's an amazing place. Great food. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Basically, everything is amazing.
