This is the heart of Judo for the world!! Many foreigners from different countries can be found training here. Instructors are fantastic although not to many speak English so brush up on your Japanese! Open Randori (fighting) classes are great for anyone who trains Judo and wants to give it a go while in Japan. There is an observation level which is open to the public to watch Judo in action evenings are best but check the online schedule to see when classes are being held so you can watch. Nice but small gift shop is located at the main entrance.

A world-class sacred place for judo that silences crying children. Energy, good use, mutual prosperity of self and others We are also putting a lot of effort into welfare, and for example, we accept and teach judo competitors with intellectual disabilities from around the world. I think it was held jointly with Toyo University, which is nearby. I think it's great that judo is expanding in that direction. I hope that the orthodox spirit and techniques of Kodokan Judo will continue to be passed down and spread throughout the world.

Great for anyone, especially if you are or were a Judoka! There’s a little museum and you can also see some Judokas at action if you’re lucky (we saw a summer camp training at the 8th floor)

A must visit for judokas wanting to pay homages to the birth place of judo. Locate in Tokyo, visiters are welcome to see the judo museum at no cost, along with observing one of the training dojos, during certain hours you can watch practices take place. For those looking to train here, they do offer lodging.

I joined the Tsukinami game in 4th Dan category (Monthly game). There's this game every month at Kodokan and you can get officially your point to be promoted to next Dan.

The Kodokan is great! It is the Mecca of Judo! In addition to championships and courses, you can stay overnight in your hostel (only for judo athletes and teachers!) for a fair price! The hostel has several options, from basic to deluxe rooms and others, super clean and comfortable! The national and international registration staff are super friendly and offer many different options depending on your needs! In any case, if you practice judo, you should visit it (albeit with prior registration and reservation) at least once in your life (or many more!). Its location is the best with several subway entrances nearby, the DOM and many restaurants around! Highly recommended!

I was exited to visit as I've done judo for many years, it was closed but I was still able to enter and the place itself was worth the visit.

The most important thing is not to get hurt, and not to get hurt. I think it's about respecting others and having fun. It's fun to make new discoveries and developments through daily practice.

There is a wonderful statue of Jigoro Kano at the entrance! When you enter inside, you will also see a bust of Matsutaro Shoriki.

An amazing place to learn judo, and so much more. The Kodokan is a great institution with passionate judo teachers who teach first and foremost the proper safety measures, and respect to one another and to Mr Kano Jigoro, the founder. More than just a sport, judo teaches you the proper way to behave and approach challenges in life. It is a privilege to be able to do judo there, and all the Kodokan staff are very warm and kind.
