I have ordered spl tiffen via swiggy, which had a worst uthappam with an enormous size and two idily and one Vada with 3 rotten (Kettu ponna) chatney and sambar. Don't choose for brand, i don't know how they selling like this, who orders food by giving money. These people are unfit to be in food business.

Authentic south Indian food with taste of murugan idli franchise. This is though one of the small outlets, but has about 10+ tables. There is also parking outside. Nice and friendly staff and good service.

Quality is not up to the mark and also they do not give the right quantity. Please see the picture. They have given one table spoon of Raitha for a parcel of one Veg Biryani. My mistake i did not check then and there, next time i will.. However, no value for Money. Except idlly and vasa, overall food is not at par and also worst service.

Being located in the busy road of main market area of Nanganallur, this place has become a landmark. Ambiance is good, place is hygienic, staffs are courteous and always in a mood to feed you more with frequently exhibiting fresh idlis, vadas, paniyaram and Pongal. Not much pricey, but quantity is slightly less compared to the price. Food is not super yummy, but the dining experience is good. Overall recommended.

wonderful option for breakfast. Here, all of the food is hot and freshly prepared. The refills of chutney, sambar, and rasam are a major plus. extremely sanitary and clean. Service is typically swift unless you arrive around lunch rush hour. The best part is getting to chase the chutneys around the traditional banana leaf dish; this restaurant is one of the few that still serves customers in this way.

The price is a little high compared to the other places but the food is good. The podi idli was good and soft. Sambar vada was amazing. Pongal was also delicious. There was generous amount of sambar and chutney given with the items. And the packaging was also good. They gave it in a banana leaf too so it was better cause it was delivered. Anyways it was good food.

Great vegetarian option for breakfast. About 10 mins from the Nanganallur temple. The place has limited seating options. So that can be a pain at times. They have good variety of breakfast options. Plan to be surprised with the options. They are decent and hygienic food. Great filter coffee as well.

Murugan Idli is a well-known restaurant chain in India, and their veg tiffen varieties are nothing short of amazing. Here is a review highlighting some of the fantastic veg tiffen options available at Murugan Idli. 1. Idli Sambar: Murugan Idli is famous for its soft and fluffy idlis, which are served with a flavorful and aromatic sambar. The idlis are well-steamed, light, and melt in your mouth. The sambar is made with a perfect balance of spices and lentils, creating a delicious combination that is loved by all. 2. Masala Dosa: The masala dosa at Murugan Idli is a crowd favorite. The dosa is crispy and golden on the outside, while the inside is filled with a delicious and mildly spicy potato masala. It is served with coconut chutney and sambar, elevating the taste to another level. The dosa is perfectly cooked and has just the right amount of crispiness. 3. Pongal: Murugan Idli serves a delectable pongal that is cooked to perfection. The pongal is made with rice, lentils, and ghee, giving it a rich and creamy texture. It is seasoned with aromatic spices like pepper and cumin, adding a burst of flavors. The pongal is served as a wholesome breakfast or brunch option and is a comfort food for many. 4. Vada: Murugan Idli's vadas are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way they should be. They are made with a perfect blend of lentils and spices, creating a delicious taste. The vadas are served with coconut chutney and sambar, making it a heavenly combination. 5. Upma: Murugan Idli's upma is another must-try veg tiffen variety. The upma is made with semolina and tempered with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and cashews, giving it a delightful crunch and flavor. It is served piping hot and is perfect for a satisfying breakfast or evening snack. In conclusion, Murugan Idli offers an amazing array of veg tiffen varieties that cater to all taste buds. With their soft idlis, crispy dosas, flavorful sambar, and perfectly cooked pongal and upma, they have options to suit every palate. The quality and taste of the food at Murugan Idli are top-notch, making it a go-to place for a delightful vegetarian breakfast or brunch.

Murugan Idly nanganallur is well known for a very long time. The place has a limited parking place for two wheelers and separate parking for cars in adjacent roads. The seating arrangement is divided as per four people and there is a separate party hall available on the first floor as well. The dishes were served hot and the taste was very good. The podi used in the dishes were especially tasty. Sweet Pongal particularly is worth mentioning because of its mouth watering taste. One can also try podi dosa, podi idly as well as kuli paniyaram. I personally felt that jigarthanda here was overhyped having tasted better ones from other famous places. But that is my personal opinion and many people really like the Jigarthanda served here. I also felt the pricing was slightly on the higher side. So an experience worth trying for vegetarian people when you are in the nanganallur area. Happy eating🤓

One of the best vegetarian restaurants I have ever visited without doubts. It is clean and have a nice atmosphere. Service is good, staff members are really active and always ready to fill the platter immediately as soon as we request. Their ghee podi idly was the ultimate dish what I had. It was really tasty. Their jigarthanda was also good, but not the best. I meant in dindagal thalappakatti restaurants jigarthanda is better as per my opinion. Prices are not that much cheap comparing with the portions, just ok. Overall nice place to have a south indian meal, highly recommended!

The chutney's went bad rotten all 3 Chutney went bad . Don't they know when to make fresh set of Chutneys and side dishes. Very dissatisfied with Long wait time all to get Bad and rotten chutneys..

Today I visited this shop. Food was good. One of the item I ordered was just onion uthapam. But when bill came it was ghee onion uthapam. They told it comes with ghee default. I told them I didn't even taste ghee in that then why I should pay extra. After several arguments he reduced 20rs per dosa. Even if some amount of ghee was there I would have paid. Be aware of this CHEATING restaurant. The manager behaviour is worse and doesn't have customer service at all.

I have heard about this south Indian food join but never got chance to experience one till recent. During my Chennai trip this we try one for lunch. We were not very hungry but just to experience we went. The restaurant is nice and clean with very modern culture feel. We ordered Ghee podi roast dosa and filter coffee both were great at very reasonable prices. Service was good and on-time staff is humble and helping. Really enjoyed our experience here. Must try Murgun Idli if you are looking for good south meals.

Murgan idli shop - one of my favourites for the authentic South Indian food. Dosas, Pongal (khara n sweet), jigarthanda (one stuff you don’t get in most places), the different variety chutneys all just makes the place even more admirable. This time the coffee was not at its best, else I would have rated 5/5. The place is always neat and the team available for the service also does a decent job. This Shop need not be suggested to any Chennaites. This is a must visit. They will never disappoint you. 😊

Good place to visit. Food quality is good. Ambience is okay. There are only two things to watch out - only 2-3 cars can be parked ( though the security is very prompt and supportive ) and lunch times during weekends are bit hectic, service would be delayed.

Ordered multigrain dosa as a take away. The cashier was rude to us. We could see the waiters being patient but this cashier was not giving a polite response. We opened the parcel at home and saw that it was not even multigrain dosa but looked like an Adai. Highly disappointed with this!!

DONT GO THIS RESTAURANT! SUCH A WASTE PLACE. FOOD IS SO AVERAGE AND ON TOP OF THAT WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! I went with my family and after having dinner, we ordered jigardanda. We waiting for almost half n hour but no sight of it. Suddenly the waiter asked us to leave the table so that he can accommodate other people. How rude and humiliating! We had not finished our dinner..but we were asked to move from the table ! And when we asked them to cancel the jigardanda, they showed so much attitude! When you can't provide proper service, close your outlet and leave! Such a nasty behaviour! I felt horrible, after paying so much, this is not what I expect! To be asked to move from table while I'm still having my dinner was extremely rude behaviour!

Ghee podi onion Uthappam was my meal and it was Good. But, wasn't as good as the one I had at T Nagar outlet of Murugan Idli Served with 4 Chutneys, I personally liked the Mint & Coconut chutneys. Eating sambar from the Banana leaf is itself tricky, eating without a spoon a difficult proposition.

One of the well maintained restaurants around with good staple South Indian food My regular breakfast place for idli and dosa. Just the best and the people servicing are also quite ok. The orders do get delivered fairly on time Overall would rate them 5 star if you are looking for good breakfast and tiffin. The chutney options are quite cool as well

Not hygienic. Bought jigarthanda. It had a mosquito in it. For the cost we pay, hygiene should be maintained well. But it is not the case here.

Had Onion rava and Madurai halwa. Madurai halwa was fresh and it was tasty. Would recommend this. Onion rava was superb. Crispy and tasty. Worth the money. Frequent Sambar and chutney top-up by the server.

Murugan idli shop keeps upto it's name of delivering exceptional food quality. Even in these difficult times they have managed to deliver a consistently good quality product which is highly commendable. Although the staff was short but they were warm and generous in offering us food items and not to mention the delectable chutneys. Although the place is still picking up business and wasn't a lot busy on the day we visited but I'm sure they will pick up business very soon. All the best !

Today we visited your Nanganallore branch where we had a very bad experience about the food quality & coffee. Theidlis were of v mediocre quality and the Chutneys were going bad. The coffee served was a brown bitter water. Money spent was a waste and we will never recommend to others.

This place is very famous and probably was one of my favorite breakfast joint. Today(30/03) I went there but this time my experience was a bit disappointing. The taste deteriorated. The vada was ice cold. Apart from sambar and sweet Pongal rest of them was very disappointing 😞.

No need to discuss about the taste, it's always awesome. The customer service is very very nice. Actually the same morning we had a very bitter experience in another famous chain of restaurant, even for a bottle of water we had to wait for 20 minutes. Very poor service, even there was no crowd at all. We were the only customer, still they didn't care about us. So we walked out from that hotel and went to Murugan Idly, here the service was very nice. Hat's off to the Management and the team.

The place was more than half empty when I went in, must be coz of the time as I had gone around 10.30. Had Ghee Podi Idli, Masala Vadai, Masala Dosai and Jigirthanda. Ghee Podi Idli was too good, vadai was okay, masala dosa was okay, Jigirthanda had too much ice in it.

  • 4/5 Jambu K. 2 years ago on Google
When you say Murugan Idly I hear Podi Idly and the butter paneer dosa. And of course the jigarthanda is also equally good. Somehow have sticked to same menu for years One of the biggest complaints I however have is the massive increase in prices when it comes to online ordering - to add the delivery charges and packing charges you end up paying almost 60 percent more than the actual cost. A big thumbs down for that.
