Castle that has been the families' seat of the Wittelsbacher for centuries. Unfortunately the majority of historic building substance has been lost due to the fire in 1961. So you can visit the rebuild castle with some saved originals and lots of blank walls. Overall rather good and a nice place to see. Some beautiful views over the surrounding area are also possible. Pricing is fair (5,50 € / adult).

It takes about 10 to 13mins by foot from Altstadt to get to the Burg Trausnitz. Beautiful scenery of Landshut from the top of the castle and a garden.

Not easy to find with the car when you would try to find signs but Google maps can guide you :-) They have a nice restaurant in the castle (build in 1204) where you also can sit outside and have a great view over the city Landshut. It’s a beautiful city with a historical center and many different beautiful shops.

The castle has amazing views. It takes you approximately 1-2 hours to visit the museum, and there are tours available during weekdays. The museum itself is pretty and small, it gives an overview of the castle and it's history. There are quizzes available for kids that would make them busy during the visit :). I would recommend it if you're visiting the town bot for the first time and you have some free time.

Originally built in 1205, the original seat of Bavaria. The grounds alone are worth the stroll

Walking up the path to the castle from town in about 10-15 minutes. It’s steep but has a paved path. Very nice views from on top, with a restaurant. If you drive up there’s a parking lot. There’s also a WC in the courtyard. Didn’t do a tour, but they have one. The castle was founded in 1204 by Duke Ludwig l. The castle and its views are a highlight while visiting Landshut.

Nice castle with nice gardens. The inside of the castle is worth a visit. In the first section of the tour there is a very interesting exposition with a lot of very interesting old objects. The entrance fee is pretty cheap, around 5 euros.

Insanely beautiful place, starts with the walk from the parking lot through a park and then into the castle area. Highly recommended.

It's a good spot to have a look at nature from the top. There's a little hike to the castle. Good spot to watch the sunset as well. There's a church on top and there are no entry tickets.

This castle was amazing itself. The history of it, the structure, the art inside, as a teacher in USA, this was very interesting. The people who work in the castle were so kind and helpful. It was even more exciting to receive a copy of an English translation of each item behind the glass as they were so interesting and I wanted to learn more about them. Sadly, I was disappointed because not only are they not in order beginning with 1-30 on the entrance (it starts with 1 and the end and works backwards), but the item numbers don't all match the items. (They had a 6 for 9, it is so simple to switch the numbers for ALL visitors!) It is a task that could be done in one day, if someone chose to do so! Putting all that aside, the mannequins inside the rooms made the visit seem more real. (I can speak/read German, fyi, I just felt it was saddening for fellow English speakers to have to take the time to find the right numbers and then match to the right artifacts.)

Beautiful and well-kept castle on a hill above the city. For free you can visit the courtyard or you can walk around in the park and enjoy an amazing views of the historic center of Landshut. The tour of the interior is only in German, but there are texts in other languages. When you go by car, follow the signs in the city !!! Address of the castle in navigation led to the tunnel under the castle.

A vast and well taken cared Castle on a hill over looking Landshut. We visited during Christmas and had a private tour of the castle. The gentleman tour guide was well informed about the castle. The tour was in German only and I got a lamented sheet with English information to each room which was a nice gesture. Gorgeous architecture, rooms, interiors and view. The ticket office / shop was great. Bought a few books. There is also a restaurant on the property. Highly recommend.

This is one of the most beautiful castles in all of Germany packed with rich history and filled with amazing artifacts. I recommend getting a tour and support the maintenance of this historic gem.

Beautifully restored castle with a €5 tour. At the end is a good restaurant with an amazing view of the city.

Parking: there are 20 parking spots right at the entrance to the castle, take the gravel road through a series of tower walls to reaching the parking, alternatively you can park in the park and walk 5-10minutes. We visited on a feast day when the museum was very very crowded but there was still empty parking right at the castle. Duration: 1hr. Good quality museum with lots of artifacts and then large rooms. Note the castle had a fire in 1961 and as a result there is very little original artwork and stucco.
