👍👍 Fascinating to hear about the history through Jan our tour guide, well worth it, the museum is excellent. The gardens and house tour was an unexpected highlight. Go to the Pa site, and check out the 12metre wide Pohutukawa tree!

What's left is just a fenced-up old closed-up well to indicate that it was the site of the first capital of New Zealand; as any building and settlements on site were all burnt to the ground.
