Battle of the Somme Memorial Garden

👍👍 A very well maintained memorial, a lovely place to visit for some quiet reflection. Even though it is on the main road when you enter the garden it becomes quiet and the traffic noise fades into the distance. Well worth a visit.

Crich Memorial Tower

👍👍 I have been past the site so many times, this time I wanted to see what it was like. The weather was perfect. The grounds are immaculate. The toilet and cafe the same. The climb to the top of the tower is not too bad, the view from the top is well worth the climb. It's just a lovely place to visit.

👍👍 Very moving memorial to the airmen that lost their lives in the Mi Amigo tragedy. The memorial is worth a visit as is knowing more about this forgotten story of WW2. I wonder how many Sheffield people owe their lives to these brave US servicemen?

Graveyard in the nearby church on the way down if you choose the less walked path is also worthy of a respectful wa...

Battle of Marston Moor, 2 July 1644
Historical landmark
👍 A monument and information board showing the location of the battle. There is no more information than that, unlike Towton (that is not far away). Still, it was a significant battle in the war, that helped Cromwell's rise and lead to the New model Army in 1645 (England's first modern professional ar...
