Holcombe Hill
Hiking area
ππ Other than a brief visit in 2011, this was a favourite old haunt (hike) in my student days in the late '80's, and despite the overcast weather, the moderate trek up to Peel Tower surpassed expectations. Astonishing views (shame the pictures don't do them justice) plus could still make out Blackpool...

Bury Bolton Street Station, East Lancashire Railway
Heritage preservation
ππ Rode the whole line today, a very peaceful and relaxing day was had. Surely not a high energy trip, so younger children may think it's a long ride. Lots of lovely scenery along the way.

Healey Dell Nature Reserve
Nature preserve
ππ Beautiful walk on a sunny afternoon with my wife and kids.
Not busy at all and we had a nice quiet walk where we could take our time and enjoy the views by the river and the kids even managed to put their feet in the freezing water for abit of fun!
Be warned that one side of the river bank is a shee...

Healey Dell Fairies Chapel

ππ Unexpected. We came across the Fairies Chapel by accident really whilst walking the dogs. Stunning rocky gorge and series of waterfalls. Love the whole of the nature reserve for its beauty and historical interest

East Lancashire Railway - (Ramsbottom,Station)
Tourist attraction
ππ Cracking day out on the East Lancashire Railway - great volunteers keep it going and it's clear they enjoy what they do. I got on at Ramsbottom and did both directions. They stop at some of the stations long enough for you to get off and have a look at the stations a bit more closely.

Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Bolton
Hindu temple
π This place is never open. Been like 4 times when it says on Google its open. I know what time aartis are but still closed. Just now I was there around 7, Googled said it closes at 8.30 but the doors were locked, the lights were on and rang 8 times but no answer. Didn't know God was VIP.
