DOG FRIENDLY but after 6 pm (signs)! If you go on a slow day before peak summer beach season, there are off-leash dogs on the beach before 6 pm in the dog beach area. They're starting to collect cash at the beach entrances/enforcing no dogs allowed until after 6 pm now.
