👍👍 Free entry for CT residents. First-time visitor. Amazed at how peaceful I felt, and I imagine everyone else felt the same. People were having picnics, enjoying the beach, walking among the gardens, or just leisurely strolling across the grounds. Amazing bit of paradise with plenty of room to spread...

👍👍 Love walking in the woods down here, so peaceful and serene. I try to go at least once a month, weather permitting, and can remember coming here on school field trips at least once as a child. Getting down to the water’s edge can be a bit tricky in spots, but it’s definitely possible as my photos p...

Brookfield Common Historic District

👍 It's a nice little place to sit and relax or go for a walk. Central package store is right around the corner where they offer a wide array of true craft beer, as well as having a small wine collection and a decent selection of spirits. If drinking isn't your thing there's this very interesting store...

👍👍 Very interesting gravestones and how they differ from today. Both in terms of the language and images used on the stones. They seem to be holding up well for how old they are (hundreds of years). It's free and open to the public (at least when we went).

Gurleyville Grist Mill

👍👍 The mill was owned by my late wife's Grandfather. The mill processed grains (the silk used to do so is still in the mill) and it operated as a sawmill. The water to power the mill was contained behind a dam, the remnants of which are still visible. My late mother-in-law told of watching salmon try t...

👍👍 This trail is an important piece of history preserved and presented well. This is Du Bois’ family land, purchased to honor and commemorate him. There is a place that shows where his grandparents’ home once stood, but no actual buildings, just a trail with signs. We spent 20-30 minutes walking the tr...
