John Wayne Birthplace Museum
Museum
π Nice tribute to John Wayne. We found it very interesting that the house he was born in was virtually untouched since the early 1900's! My father was a huge John Wayne fan and I grew up watching his movies often. As I grew older and learned more about him I gained a deep respect for the man he was an...

Winterset City Park
Park
ππ It is a beautiful park with a lot of extras. Two nice playground areas, a hedge maze, bocce ball courts, hiking trails, a covered bridge, and of course Clark Tower, a three level tower with an amazing view. The north shelter is large with a fireplace, power outlets, and nice restrooms.

Cutler-Donahoe Covered Bridge
Historical landmark
ππ This bridge is located within the sizable city park. Although the bridge is nice, I found the Hedge Maze more fun. The Storybook walk, the wood carvings, picnic shelters, water, Bocce ball, so much activity to partake. Don't forget to watch out for the deer.

Cobblestone Inn & Suites - Winterset
Hotel
π Very cozy hotel with just 2 floors. There was a little bar area & nice breakfast area. Good breakfast.
Staff was super friendly.
Our only complaint were the pillows (I usually bring my own), otherwise, beds were very comfy. Rooms were clean.

ππ We loved visiting here. Their apple fritters are amazing, and so are the owners. Donβt forget to support local businesses first.

Iowa Quilt Museum
Museum
π I'm not really sure what I was expecting from a quilt museum seeing as I don't quilt but they were featuring one artist and only had his quilts on display. Had I stayed until the next day we would have been there for the "airing of the quilts" but we missed that.

Madison County Historical Society
Historical society
ππ A wonderful collection. The rock collection is actually of a high class. The buildings and displays are varied and comfortable to pass through. The house has solid walnut trimmings with glass imported from France. One bed covering was tatted by a man recuperating from war wounds.

ππ We always have great experiences at Mi Pueblito! They have unbelievably fast service every time we go in. It's never usually very busy, but still. In 10 minutes you'll have your food at the table. Queso sauce is amazing as you'd expect and the flavors of the dishes have depth and are delicious. If y...

ππ Simply an amazing experience overall. Visiting for the weekend and was local. Started with the pretzel for an appetizer, the bites were soft and the cheese was good with a little heat. Not the best I've ever had but we're still good!
