Disclaimer: Honest review!! I think everyone should read this before going there. My personal opinion is that Dhurvees is a little over hyped. We were super excited to visit the place after reading all the reviews here. So Today we decided to go there and we tried their chicken biryani and chicken tangri kabab. We drove from the west end just to try this place. I love trying different types of biryani , but the biryani rice here was just average with side gravy and raitha. Also after eating their chicken biryani and chicken tangri kabab, I felt the chicken was cooked multiple times and was not fresh (I am saying this from my experience). Also I felt it was overpriced for that quantity. They have mentioned that the biryani serves 2 people, but it will be sufficient for just 1 person. The tangri kabab was nice , but again , felt it was not fresh and had less spices. Don't get overwhelmed by the other reviews posted here. Go there and Try it out on your own without any expectations.

Our new favorite spot. Everything is spectacular, service is worth 20%++, the meals are impeccable. The food is rich, complex, amazingly paired.

Super impressed with this place, don't let the modern setting fool you, the food is truly authentic and delicious as is the service. Edit : went back twice in one week just because the food is so good; even got to meet chef Min Lee and try her bulgogi meat pie. She's a wonderful chef and an amazing person.

Fantastic food cooked to perfection. The lamb was the most delicate I've had in Ottawa. The Bahraini was familiar, like an auntie would make, but significantly better. The prices were more than fair and the staff was wonderful.

This is what you want when you think of a mixing of cultures and the future of Canadian cuisine. I love the fact you can get so many different blends of spices and culture in one place and its authentic feeling. Food was amazing and the service was attentive in making sure we knew what we were ordering and how to navigate our meal. We did it family style and it was plenty of food and how I would go back again. Only thing I would want changed is more pickled side with the chicken. Specially for the amount of chicken we had ordered. I highly recommend and will update my review as I experience it more.

My wife and I are regulars at this restaurant. It is one of the best restaurants in the city - especially for South Asian food! My wife is a vegetarian and she loves the Palak Paneer. As for myself, my favourite menu item is the Jafna Chicken Curry. The samosas are also excellent starters. The staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is very warm and inviting. I would totally recommend coming here.

First time trying this place out. A friend had been and recommended it and we were all glad he did. Our server (Ian) was amazing. There was another young guy (dark hair and glasses) who was also very helpful I just didn't catch his name. The service was top notch. We were fasting and came around sunset and they went above and beyond. They started us off with some complimentary dates to break our fast and we ordered a few dishes to share. We got the Beef Rendang (part of their Iftar menu) as well as a lamb Rendang and the Jaffna Chicken curry. Everything was absolutely amazing. I had zero complaints or criticisms even if I wanted too. I'm already planning to come again. The poratas came out hot and fresh and were absolutely delicious. The reviews are real. They deserve 6 stars.

I would give more stars if I could. Best Korean oven roasted chicken and rendang in town. Chef Min is awesome and staff are super friendly. A definition of what a dining experience should be. Will definitely return!

Service was 10/10 and the food was delicious (fish was a little dry but Iโ€™ll let it slide because the flavours were good and everything else was 11/10). My only feedback is the plates are more expensive than similar restaurants.

Went to Dhruvees for Sunday lunch, it's a great location in Beechwood with parking in the back. Service was excellent and so was the food. We got the chicken cutlets to start, delicious crispy and the aioli was excellent too. For mains we got the chicken jaffna and upgraded to the Malabar paratha, which was super flaky and yum. We also got the fish balado which was recommended by our server and was delicious as well. We would definitely go back for a meal.

Follow my food blog on Instagram for restaurant reviews: @mimi.munches! ๐Ÿ’– I recently was invited to check out a new restaurant that will be opening soon, Dhruvee! They will be starting with a menu that includes dishes such as the ones featured here. The first dish is their chicken biryani (they will also offer a lamb biryani, mmm). The second dish featuered is their chicken tandoori, which is made in an authentic tandoor oven. The chicken was SO tender, and flavoured really well โ€“ I enjoy when the flavouring is not only on the outside, but also infused into the meat. The amount of char was also good โ€“ not too much, but enough to add a nice smoky hint. Lastly, I am super excited for their afternoon tea concept โ€“ they will be the only restaurant that will serve tea from Dilma tea! You will be able to choose a flavour, such as Moroccan Mint Green Tea, Brilliant Breakfast, Pure Chamomile Flowers, Green Tea with Jasmine Flowers, The Original Earl Grey, and Rose with French Vanilla, which is what I tried. Whatโ€™s unique is that you will be able to use a physical sandglass hourglass timer to ensure the tea you choose will be prepared perfectly. In the future, nibbles/snacks will also be available to enjoy with the tea!

Very pleasant dining experience. The restaurant is now featuring a small buffet which is an excellent option. Food is good, staff are elegant and discreet in their black attire, atmosphere is relaxed. They offer information ranging from history of the caravans guided by the Northern Star (Dhruvee) to "how to", with obvious pride. My small peeve was the scent of laundry soap on the cloth napkins and desserts offered in tin cups without a plate to place them on. But I definitely anticipate many happy returns to this gem and so does my friend who dined with me.

We came during the lunch time and went with main menu. Donโ€™t make the same mistake we did. Overpriced food, small portions and we waited for the food for 40 min. Food was good but nothing special.

โ€œRating basis takeoutโ€ $70 for a Lamb Rendang, Vegetable Stew and Sri Lankan Chicken cutlets. Where do I begin! Cutlets - filling in the cutlet was generous, chicken/potato/onion paste not much else flavour. Hope the Aoli was store made and not Costco bulk ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Vegetable Stew - seemed fresh, tasteful gravy! Lamb Rendang - seemed anything but Rendang from our experience - no lemon grass, no hit of kaffir lime. Tasted like a generic Ottawa South Asian curry base. The icing on the Rendang - there was more cucumber slices than actual lamb (not fresh). They were nice enough to give us chillies to add to the curry when our request was if they could make the curry a little extra spicy ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿค” Food is definitely overpriced for takeout, guess the price you pay is mostly for the ambience and service of eating at the restaurant? *Before the restaurant makes another defensive comment - my comment on pricing is based on trying ~65 Asian restaurants in Ottawa. This is overpriced for pure food quantity, although quality my justify some of it.
