**Update: I really hesitated to update my review but unfortunately I still can’t say I’m satisfied. Again, left the salon happy just to see that one side is clearly longer than the other. The second hairdresser was really nice as well and definitely knew what she was doing. I just wish she would’ve noticed the issue. It’s really noticeable and a big no go with the length I have. I double checked it to make sure it’s not just the way it falls. Too bad. I don’t think I would recommend this place to my friends - won’t come back. But appreciate them getting back to me for fix the first issues. I got a haircut today but unfortunately I’m not satisfied. I came with long hair till my lower back and wanted to get a long bob. So you can imagine it’s a big change. Naturally I was a bit nervous and excited at the same time. The stylist seemed like he knew what I wanted right away. However I would've appreciated a bit more communication. It’s not a big deal but made me realize later I should’ve questioned it more. I wanted it shorter, he hesitated. I agreed but made sure we can still change it after just in case. Once he was done he realized my lack of excitement and made it a tiny bit shorter but rushed through it. Literally in seconds with the machine (I wasn’t even wearing a cover at this point anymore - still have hair all over my clothes) Not precisely enough. I have straight hair so you’ll always be able to tell if the cut is not done well. I left the salon quite happy, because the haircut does look nice at first but when I got home I saw the mistakes. 85$ is a lot of money. I didn’t expect mistakes like this. Definitely need to fix it. 2 stars because he was being really nice & would’ve done a good job probably if we went with the length I wanted from the beginning.

This was my second time booking a hair appointment service with the lovely Fatema and I honestly couldn’t be any happier with the results! You can tell she’s very passionate of her work, takes her time to ensure her clients are always happy and pays attention to every single details. Definitely will keep going to her in the future!

I had such a lovely appointment with Elena this morning! She was friendly, kind, calm and most of all gave me a wonderful haircut. This was my first professional haircut in almost six years and Elena made me feel so comfortable. She really listened to what I was looking for and from the start I felt like I could trust her to do a great job. 10/10 would recommend :)

I had an amazing experience at this hair salon! My stylist Fatema was exceptional. She listened attentively to what I wanted and communicated each step clearly. She also provided me with some hair-care tips! I left feeling incredibly satisfied and happy with the results. Highly recommend this salon for their excellent service and skilled professionals!

Nour did my first ever balayage. I explained to him exactly what I was hoping for and envisioned in hopes it was possible. I’ve never had my hair bleached before so I was a bit nervous but he made me feel very comfortable and confident. Once I saw the results, I knew I chose the right person for this! He went above and beyond of what I was hoping for and made it look better than the reference picture! Could not recommend him more and I can’t wait to come back.

Got a cut and colour last week! Really, really love the colour - the stylist did an amazing good job :) 5/5 For the cut, I’m slightly sad as my hair is much shorter than I anticipated. I just wanted to clean up the ends, maybe take off like 1-2cm in length but I’m realizing now my hair is quite shorter than requested. For reference, the first pic was taken 1 month ago (I imagine my hair was even longer prior to the cut) and the second pic is the length of my hair today. The haircut part of the service was also probably under 7 minutes so it was odd being charged for the a full cut. (Though Im not sure how the services/prices are broken down) 3.5/5 stars for my overall experience I know hair grows back but a girl just wanted long lush hair for the summmeerrrr :’( :’( :’(

I almost cried, in a good way! Elena is magical. After not having my hair highlighted in a year, and a bad Demi-Permanent colour, she worked her magic. She was so fun to be around while she worked on my hair, explaining what she was doing every step of the way. After going through a large transition, and she made me feel like myself again, which is priceless. We did baby-lights, shadow root and a cut. Go to her. You will not regret it!

The worst haircut I’ve ever had…. I’m naturally a 3B curl, and had some damaged ends I needed to trim. Diana seemed to be very knowledgeable and I trusted her recommendation….regrettable. She asked me if I wanted a blunt or blunt round cut, I didn’t want either, I had asked her to trim the dead ends and I wanted to grow my layers out before doing any additional cutting. She gave me a very uneven blunt cut and took at least 3 inches off the bottom layer, my hair hasn’t been this short in a decade. She didn’t even touch the upper layers and must have done only 3 cuts total with the scissors- my upper layers are longer than the bottom layers. Extremely disappointing in this horrible haircut, and will never be coming back. I recommend avoiding this place altogether, especially if you have curls.

Love Hair Republic (we go to the one on Bank). Although I don't always get the same stylist (my fault for not booking far enough ahead), I always get a good cut and/or colour. This week I went and had Nour, who worked very efficiently and well. I got a great cut, and quickly. My daughter went to him the week before and got a great cut with a very good colour. Highly recommend!

Would not recommend this salon for anyone with curly hair. Unfortunately, I entrusted the salon with my healthy curly hair. In which was a mistake after confirming with the receptionist that my hair is curly and I needed a stylist that’s familiar with curly hair and sending photo of my current condition of hair which was healthy ringlets with previous balayage colour on it which I was trying to refresh they assured me the stylist is a master stylist that can certainly be more then capable to do the service. In the consultation with the stylist I make it very clear I wanted to keep the health of my hair and not damage my hair I wanted a Carmel honey balayage in which they didn’t do they over processed my hair to pretty much white that fried my hair. Didn’t even know which hair brush to brush hair with was brushing my curly hair top to bottom rather than bottom to top. My hair broke off after the appointment was pin straight all over and continued to break off trying to go through hair to brush. The salon after damaging my hair and me contacting regarding the poor service and experience want me to come Back to try to fix the hair that they damage they were trying to with words put the results on my behave because I had previously coloured hair even though it was coloured by them and wouldn’t provide refund until I requested twice. Moral of This terrible experience is highly not recommend for curly hair. Good salon for none curly hair but don’t trust this place for curly hair if you’re dying your hair. The management has poor customer service

So happy to find my new hairstylist Jenna M here! She’s amazing, listens to you and always does a great job. I have wavy/curly hair and trust her fully! Also got a balayage that looks so natural - I’ve never received so many compliments! Highly recommend.

I always have an amazing experience every time I have my hair done at any of the hair republic locations in Ottawa. I have seen many different stylists and I always leave the salon happy with my colour + cut. The front desk receptionists are amazing with placing you with the stylist that will best fit your needs correctly. I even bring my step son in for a kids cut and he always leaves happy. Highly recommend them for all your hair needs!

I had a great experience. The ambiance and customer service is excellent. I did my haircut from Elena. She did a great job. I would highly recommend this place. Make sure to carry cash since they accept tips in cash only. Also it is difficult to find parking since it’s on a very busy street.

They have 20% discount on tuesdays and thursdays for students. So, I used this opportunity and booked a spot woth NOUR. He did my haircut & haircolour in 1 hour and i am extremely happy with the resaults.

I dint even feel the heat on my scalp when she was styling it. She is damn silent- but her work speaks a lot! With so much patience and concentration she transformed my hair, just with a nice cut! Please try a cut with her- and u will not get disappointed at all!!

I recently got my hair dyed here for the first time in 2 years, and I'm absolutely in love! My hair stylist Fatema was beyond patient and communicative as we worked through what exactly I wanted. I was a little nervous and not entirely sure what would look best but I left with exactly what I was envisioning, and zero regrets. She was also super helpful in terms of hair care and advice. The vibe in the salon was also super nice! I would definitely recommend Hair Republic, and especially Fatema!

Just got my hair done from Hair Republic Beauty Lounge and I’m in awe of my balayage. My stylist Fatema was extremely patient and listened to me carefully. She walked me through the entire process and provided multiple options for me to choose from. She truly enjoys what she does and it shines through in her work. The balayage she did for me is extremely blended and exactly what I was looking for. Cannot recommend her enough. Please go see her if you are a brunette!
