Delicious dinner under romantic setting accompanied by sweet servers. The steaks were cooked deliciously and didn’t disappoint. The wine and cocktail were also perfect and well-paired with the steak. The server was very sweet and exceptional. I couldn’t get her name but she told us she’s been here 22 years. We enjoyed our dinner here very much!

We arrived at The Keg, I was pleasantly surprised when they put us upstairs which was nice. It was very busy but a nice atmosphere. Our server Celestine was very welcoming with us and very friendly. We celebrated our Anniversary it was amazing, thanks to The Keg. We will go back. The food was delicious!

My partner and I spent our two year anniversary dinner here and it was a fantastic experience. Our server Patrick was exceptional, he has a great personality, very attentive to our table and gave great recommendations. Food was incredible, had the baseball steak which was cooked to perfection. My partners meal was the same calibre. I would highly recommend this restaurant any day.

However, I believe during the weekends, better phone before coming. Everything was fresh and delicious! Wine and drinks selection nicely complete the entire experience. What truly stood out to me was Daniel's ability to speak multiple languages. In addition to English and French, he also had a good grasp of Spanish and German. We’ve finally got to try this restaurant because they smelled incredible outside whenever I go Byward market area. We started to enjoy our appetizer at the bar because there were several people ahead of us, waiting to be seated. We liked tuna tartare, but my french onion soup was salty, and cheese was not quite enough inside of the soup. After having appetizers, we were seated in the main area and then server was changed. I think it was not a good idea to have appetizers in the bar first because the server asked us if we need any appetizers. I enjoy good service from quality restaurant, so it was a bit disappointing to learn that there are not so much of communication between servers. We ordered sirloin wrapped with bacon. But, the bacon was fell off from my sirloin steak and the meat was overcooked (burned). Considering the money I paid, I think they can do better.

Visited last week with family for my dad's birthday. Everyone was really happy with the service and food. I wish I would've remembered the name of the server - he was amazing and also spoke both english and french, which was helpful for us! All our food was great, they also had a kid's menu for the younger ones. Definitely recommend this spot.

It over cook to medium well .the French fried is so bad.like other review mention , it s cold and cavendish’s quality in a plates 50$ I m very sad about it. *Prime rib, the mushroom rice was good and the size is good but not the high quality beef level.because taste bland. *Wellington beef. The size or shape is not the classic Wellington. Look flat and too much mushroom n vegetable inside the pastry . Cannot taste the beef and pastry together well . The mashed potato was taste good with butter and seasoning. *Long Island ice tea as cocktails but no taste . It better check the recipe . The worst is calamari , battle not cover well , over cook and size is small , May be I should not order there . One of the best is the bread , home bake with steam come out but it take long time to come and we finish the soup . It busy restaurant it can bake more and the waitress can easy to handle instead of wait 15min for a breads Wine is good match the steak with good price. What I order . So far you can tell not easy to have steak house with good location and good bands name. And experience . The Keg is a classic Canadian steakhouse. The quality is great and very consistent. I've gone to numerous locations across Canada and you can always know what you'll get. We arrived around 7pm on a Friday and had the obligatory 30 minute wait at the bar where I got a keg sized ceaser. The service was good but I gave a four out of five given the wait. There were lots of tables when we finally were seated which made me wonder why we waited at the bar for so long. To start we got bread. The bread itself was nice and warm and good, however the butter that came with it wasn't our cup of tea. Plain salted butter would have been preferred. My partner got the 6oz top sirloin while I got the 20oz bone in rib steak. For our sides we got the ceasee salad, cauliflower mash and a twice baked potato. I also added a smoke on the guava. The bone in ribeye was very flavourful and a large portion. Both steaks were cooked as requested. The twice baked potato was also great. I gave the food a four as its a very consistent and good steak but the price has gone up in recent years.

Warm reception, excellent friendly and attentive server. My steak and my partner's steak were both perfectly cooked. Sadly I must admit the lobster was a bit overdone and the oysters Rockefeller we had as an appetizer were ice cold under the broiled cheese and panko topping so that was disappointing. Lastly my fries looked like they were reheated and I didn't eat them. Still a lovely dining experience overall but considering the bill was nearly 200$ I expected higher quality. I would still go back since I have been to the Keg many times and typically they do not let me down. Edit: after writing the above review the Keg replied and asked me to email them so that a member of their team could reach out to me, I emailed them and never heard back from them.

Let’s start with the positive: Atmosphere -10 Service and server -10 Drinks -10 Location - 10 Food- 4/10 I did not enjoy my food and for the price I expected a great meal. I won’t return just for a great atmosphere and good service. The food is below par and should be improved. Even the food on the plate could use some work with organization (don’t place the chicken on the ribs ) and don’t serve a hard biscuit. If it’s hard, just remove it. I am surprised they are allowed to charge so much for such poor quality food. Believe it or not every meal shown except the kids meal is for over $20. Please improve the food quality.

Pre Pandemic Review: Lovely experience. I was there on a Friday night so the lineup was a little bit long. I ordered steak and potatoes with their baked brie appetizer to start and the food was delicious! Definitely would recommend!

Always an outstanding experience at The Keg, no matter the location. Been to multiple locations in Montreal, Halifax, and Ottawa. Steak is always prepared perfectly and the Tuna Tartare appetizer is my favorite. Although the other options are great too. This location in downtown Ottawa was great and didn't depart from the normal level of awesomeness I've come to suspect at The Keg. I'll be heading back to The Keg next time I'm up in Canada.

Nice meal good service, the salad, shrimp cocktail are both good. Steak is little bit well done then I expected, but still good. A keg standard, seated in the 2nd floor corner so not much of atmosphere to think.😝

Ordered a Filet Mignon Keg Classic with Caesar Salad, Lobster Gratinee, NY Striploin, Kids Meal and a Cheesecake. Final bill was $231 for 2 adults and a child. Apparently the bar was backed up, so we didn’t get served our Cranberry Juice, Apple Juice and Caesar for 20 minutes. Apparently, kitchen was backed up as well so we had to wait for our food. Filet Mignon was made closer to a medium rather than a medium rare. Striploin was perfectly executed. The server was extremely overwhelmed. She rushed through everything and kept trying to run away while we were still providing our orders. At one point, we thought she had walked out ‘cos we didn’t see her for a good half an hour so we could ask for our drinks. To be clear, she was friendly and would have been amazing, I think, if she was not overwhelmed. I would stick to the other many amazing restaurants in the Byward Market area and will not be back at The Keg at York in Ottawa.

The rib on the bone 20oz is from the grille. Intense taste. If you are from Europe order one level less cooked in Canada than Europe. The classic rib steak 18% was a juicy slow cooked slice of rib steak from a whole piece. To sit outside was really nice and we enjoyed that summer eve. We missed the black pepper and big grain salt mill which give a special taste to meat we are used to have in Europe, but this was missing almost in every restaurant in Canada so far.

Nice ambience, quite dark lighting. Onion rings for starters, very good, big rings and nice by fresh bread. Steaks were good, but quite expensive for what it is. Desserts were disappointing. Cheese cake was bland and sauce looked like it came out if a tin. Seems like it was frozen before hand. Creme brulee, sugar was very burnt and left a bitter taste. Cappuccinos are not great, from a machine and not made with proper milk froth. Service was a bit lax but ok. Long queue when we left so be sure to make a reservation.

One of the best Keg restaurant my wife and I had been too the services was amazing. The hostess and waitress are very friendly and very intuitive to our needs. Never once I had to wait to get their attention and the curiosity they offer to check on our experience ever moment they get was amazing. The food without a doubt excellent. Thanks Ottawa Keg for giving us a great dinner while we were exploring Ottawa for the first time.

Good service Lighting could be better, could barely see friends across me. Spent a good chunk of change but cant say any of the meals were excellent - had the sirloin with seafood, meat was alright, nothing amazing. Seafood was basically boiled shrimp and scallops thrown onto the plate. And the sauce was barely enough for the three and rather tasteless. Fries were cold, and veggies were bland. My mom had the blackened chicken which seemed okay but again not worth the money. Calamaris were tasty and good portion. Cocktails were good also. Given the bill amount and the not so great mains (arent i supposed to adore your steaks?) i can think of many other spots i could spend half in and really enjoy.

Dinner was amazing. The food, drinks, atmosphere, service was out of this world. Alena was our waitress, super funny, friendly and she was training someone that night as well! My boyfriend had the fillet mignon steak and I had salmon, both were to die for! My boyfriend also had a picture of a drink recipe where he had at another restaurant, the drink was good but wasn’t put together nicely so he wanted to try the drink at a fancier restaurant. So Alena and the bartenders were awesome and made it up for him and he loved it! He had a second. Staff, food and restaurant made such a beautiful night! Highly recommend.

Always consistent. Enjoyed our meal and even had first timers with us! They loved their meals also. Service wasn't great...hot mains were delivered a full 10 minutes before wedge salads that two of us ordered as a main. I get that everyone is just getting back in the swing of things, but a wedge salad is the easiest thing on the menu. Just sayin'.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner at the Keg downtown. We made reservations which worked out perfectly once we arrived and were seated promptly even though it was packed! The setting is quite romantic, so this would make for a nice place for a date night. The escargot appetizer was delicious! Our ribs and salmon were perfectly cooked. Our cocktails were good too. All of our servers were very polite and friendly. Overall, a wonderful experience at The Keg!!!

We very much appreciated our experience at this particular Keg. The team was courteous and friendly. The food was very good. They forgot to bring us our entree and charged us for it. When we advised our server she quickly apologized, rectified the problem and covered our drinks. Their policy of pleasing the customer is very professional and makes us want to go back. Good job!

They offer indoor or terrace for dining. You can choose in the sun or under the canopy for shade outside. Best Meal i’ve had in a long time. The steaks were cooked absolutely deliciously and most definitely didn’t disappoint. The wine was also perfect chilled and well paired with the steak dinner. The server Sophie was very sweet and her customer service was exceptional and above expectation. We enjoyed our dinner here very much, was my first time and certainly won't be my last. Mon-Thurs 5pm-10pm Friday 4:30-10:30 Sat 4pm-10:30 Sun 430-9pm Reservations are not required but if you are later eater might be good idea to do so as they get very busy around 530- 7pm. Well worth the visit so don't miss out on this superb establishment. 👌

Disappointed with my last 2 visits. You used to be my go to in the market but not anymore. Vodka espresso martini was flat. Not frothy enough. The steaks were bland and tough and not cooked to perfection like before. The reason we go is for consistency. Lose that and you will lose the ball game. The best part was the wedge blue cheese salad.

First time to the Keg, visited the one in Ottawa while on vacation and it was absolutely amazing. Our waitress was super friendly, the food was delicious, the drinks were very well made & they offer in door or terrace for dining. Definitely will be coming back in the future!

My spouse and I love going to The Keg on our date nights. The food is always good and it has a great atmosphere! We tried the Billy Miner Pie for dessert and it was the best dessert I've had in a long time! But don't be fooled, it's a huge piece.

Great night at The Keg. Like everything post Covid, prices went up but food was up to our expectations. There was eight of us and everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was great and we didn't feel rushed. Ended the night with specialty coffees while sharing desserts: double chocolate, cheesecake and creme brule. Will definitely be going back but will be sure to book sooner since it's not easy getting an earlier time with a bigger group.

Wow, tasteless food, the most bland food I have ever had! I don't remember the Keg being this bad. The quality of food and taste has gone to 0. I'm not sure if it's just this location, but both mine and my husbands food was low quality. We didn't even finish our food, the only thing that tasted good was the bread and the mashed potatoes lol! The service was good, server was nice, but unfortunately the food was horrible. That will definitely be the last time we got to a Keg.

Very very disappointed with our visit. Arrived at a later time but the host was happy to seat us. This keg felt very run down and was the most ghetto one I’ve ever been too. They sat us in a dark corner. I asked the server about the wine selection and she had no idea. I am experienced with wine and I was asking for her opinion and she was NOT knowledgeable about the menu. My boyfriend and I ordered our regular meals. He ordered the salmon. Which used to come with asparagus. We didn’t know the menu changed and it arrived with Brussels sprouts and bacon (we do not eat red meat, chicken or pork) and we had to flag the server down to tell her. She offered to take the plate away but had bad recommendations for what he should order instead. I mentioned it used to come with asparagus and she argued with me and told me I was wrong. My boyfriend ended up not even eating dinner. We witnessed another table having issues with the server as she didn’t bring her table their wine before the steak arrived. We ended up getting a free dessert for the trouble but we left with a bad taste in our mouth as we expect higher quality service and food from the keg. We don’t plan on returning to any keg anytime soon.

After walking around we made our way to The Keg Our server was quick to read us and get our drink order. Not glancing at the menu we asked about appetizers. We decided to go with her suggestions something we were unfamiliar with but was very happy her choice. Continuing with the theme of not using the menu our server designed our entrees as well. Home runs. Overall an amazing experience with dessert coming it is obvious that we made the right choice coming here. From start to finish all was fantastic. Went for new years eve takeout and busy. Thought too many people inside tho not horrible. Spoke outside with two fellows before going in and all not keen about going in. We did as that was stated policy. One of the two bolted back outside after waiting few minutes as felt unsafe. Staffer asked if he wanted to wait and pay outside. Huh!? Why pile us up inside if this much safer option possible? Whole situation could have been handled better, perhaps even by leaving doors open.

MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A RESERVATION FOR EVENING AND WEEKEND. They will still keep you waiting once you show up but it will be less then if you show up without a reservation. Place was super busy. Amazing meal. The server, Rachel, was knowledgeable and always stopping by to make sure everything was great. Friendly and attentive. Expensive but you don't eat like this everyday. I would go again
