Sometimes it's best to play it safe, especially when it comes to brunch. Good Ol' eggspectation comes in clutch when you're hungover and the only cure is eggs and coffee. Love their blue berry pancakes 🥞!

We choose Eggspectation for brunch because we wanted a view - which we did get from the second floor which was neat . However the restaurant seems dated - cracked or chipped concrete in many places. A lot of areas that have not been clean since the restaurant has opened because it’s not easy to access the area but is visible to clients. The chairs at the table are very heavy. The table was sticky. The bathrooms were not great. The server was very nice. The food came out rather quickly. The food prices were definitely higher end prices for breakfast dishes. A “freshly squeezed” orange juice was $9. I opted to get a lunch meal to make it feel more worth it. The fries were good and tasted like thicker hickory sticks. The burger was not great. The Brie burger would be 10x better with a simple 4 ingredient garlic aioli rather than a lemon aioli. You could barely taste the lemon aioli and when you did it didn’t taste right. Crispy onions would also be great In there too. The waffles were dry but the chicken was good. Overall I don’t think I’d return due to better more economical choices around the same area.

This place is close to work. Today, I decided to take my team for breakfast. I didn't make reservations ahead of time, but I did go in early to let the waitress know I would be coming in with 10 other people in an hour, and she was very accommodating. Everything was set up when we walked in. Great food, portions are big. I did have one colleague who was vegan who had a bit of trouble finding something on the menu, but other than that, everything was great.

Visiting for the weekend and stopped her for breakfast on our second day. The atmosphere was really nice. We are on the first floor but wish we chose the second. The view looks amazing and it’s so bright. Everyone’s food was delicious. I had the Montreal Benny and I’ve never had such a delicious Benny before in my life. I’ll want to come back to Ottawa just for this! The staff and wait staff also really nice. The only down fall is the bathrooms did smell heavily of pee.

Wowowo... A good breakfast joint in the downtown of Ottawa city.. Walking distance from Hotel Delta. Pancake lovers 😋💯... Overall a great place. We tried their Southwest sunrise .. and the blueberry ricotta cheese pancake (this was heavenly delicious) Also their hot chocolate topped with whipped cream was very good!! 😋

If I could give this a 0 I would. Disrespectful. I wouldn't feed this to my dog. I ordered chicken and waffles and got waffles and chicken nuggets. How dare you insult your customers like that. And charged $22. People work hard for their money not to be served garbage food. If you don't have the ingredients tell the patron before they order. But instead you just insult their intelligence. Never in my life have I seen anything like this. Do not eat here.

Pretty good! The atmosphere was unique for sure, but personally I didn’t find the chairs comfortable at all. That being said, the food was not bad! I got the “eggstraordinary” and it was very filling ($21). The crepes weren’t that good if I’m being honest because they just tasted microwaved or something…. The bacon was delicious and crispy, and I absolutely loved the hash brown potatoes. I really liked the “mango razz” smoothie ($8) and even though it seemed pricey, the amount you get was mostly worth it. The eggspectation burger ($18) was alright, but the bread was nice! The worst part about this place was the bathroom… it was quite gross and not well ventilated whatsoever. It smelled terrible in there and the place seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. There wasn’t any soap, the hand dryers didn’t work, and there were no paper towel dispensers. That kind of ruined the experience for me, but I think it’s still a not bad place to go to.

Really enjoyed the Lobster Mac and Cheese. The sauce was perfect and there were a fairly good amount of Lobster chunks. Good flavours and texture.

Great experience. Friendly staff, beautiful view (from the second floor), and delicious food! The order came very quickly. The portions are great and quite fulfilling. Prices are pretty affordable.

A nice restaurant and atmosphere, however I have had better breakfast & value at other breakfast joints. The waffle was very dry and costed me just over $26.00 all in.

Super yummy food our whole family enjoyed. Love the French touch to the menu. First time we’ve ever been. Highly recommend you sit on the top floor it’s a pretty view and gorgeous with the sun out. Love the lyonnaise style potatoes and the Brie on crostini. The servers were awesome! Coffee and tea were a tad cold the first round but they were awesome with refills and bottomless drinks

We visited for breakfast and were so happy we went. We had the vegan eggs and the vegetarian omelette and they were both amazing. I cant wait to go back

December 18, 2021 An excellent place to brunch! We were greeted by a polite hostess. After she brought us to our table, we were given menus. The menu has a lot of choices and different variety. We started off with smoked salmon. This was quite delicious! The main entrées were just as good: poached eggs and a mykonos omelette. The side fruit was a nice touch! The only negative I should point out was at the very end, when we were given our bills. There was a slightly awkward exchange with our server asking us to pay cash instead of credit. He said he would get his tip right away if we paid with cash. It felt awkward. Other than that, it was a great meal. Highly recomend.

We had a terrible experience here. Not only did we wait an hour to receive our food AND drinks ? When the waitress finally came with the coffee, she SPILLED it on my skirt. I had hot coffee on my skirt and was not offered an apology or anything. The waitress acted like she had nothing to do with it even tho she put the mug on the uneven part of the tables when they touch causing it to fall. No apology from manager either. Appalling service. The food was also very cold by the time we were served

We had the Salmon Crostini and Montreal Benedicts. The Salmon Crostini was delicious, it was a tad salty tho it still tasted great for me. The Montreal Benedicts was good however not a fan of it, still good taste just not my cup of tea. We sat on their second floor and service was not as great, not really welcoming. Adding to that when we were led to our table the chair on my side was messy and dirty. Atmosphere felt rustic which was nice and since it was raining the day we came it made the place more attractive, peaceful and calming.

Excellent service! Dishes were great, very accommodative to food preferences! Georgia was our server and she offered 10/10 service!! She was very kind and kept checking in on us to make sure we had a great dining experience ☺️

Great location, downtown Ottawa. Food was delicious, a little bit expensive, but worth it. It is breakfast but the 4 of us were full, so it is brunch. They have a few vegetarian options.

2023-10-28: food was underwhelming, nothing special. I asked for extra crispy waffles but they were soft, pale, and limpy instead. Orders were hit and miss... something was missing and something we didn't ordered showed up instead. The only positive thing was that we didn't have to wait for a table on a Saturday mid-morning.

Honestly this place does not get enough credit. Food: the food was fresh and delicious everything tasted very good even the fruit. Service: Melissa was very attentive and friendly Atmosphere: was very intriguing. It is very vintage from the decor to the chairs (not uncomfortable in my opinion). I would love to know more about the history of the building and why it looks the way it does.

The place was a piece of art like Ottawa, unique. Georgia waited on us, she was friendly and took care of us. The food was delicious, fresh fruit, enough portions for everyone, we absolutely could barely finish it but we try it because like I said it was yummy! 😋😍

The space at Eggspectations is so unique, it just adds to the appeal of this breakfast place! Breakfast itself is pretty standard - the food is good but not out of this world. You won’t be disappointed by eating here (as they have great consistency) but you might not be WOW’d! I’d definitely recommend sitting upstairs by one of the windows for a nice view!

Got the veggie omelette and my boyfriend got a Belgium waffle with fruit. It was really good food and the staff was very friendly. We were travelling and needed somewhere open early enough for us and thankfully this place was! I just wish more breakfast places in Ottawa offered a normal breakfast with just eggs, potatoes and toast and the option of adding meat to it.

We had a very satisfying meal. There was good variety on the menu, and the server was friendly and attentive. Eggs were cooked as per my preferences, potato medallions were crispy on the outside and still tender on the inside, and fruit was flavourful.

Delicious and filling breakfast in a cute building that blends old and new style. Our server was wonderful too. Everything was delicious and the portions generous. The waffles were especially good and I loved that there was a nice side of fruit included on our plates.

Stumbled across this place, it was eggsceptional!! Very cool decor, it’s the inside of an old rail station. If you’re looking for somewhere cool to eat check this place out. The food is eggscellent as well, I got a savoury crepe. It was excellent but a bit dry, there was no sauce with it, some hollondaise sauce on top would have been perfect. Mom got a fruit parfait that was delicious. It just had plain oats in it and could have been improved with granola instead, but was still good.

Food is pretty average, service was extremely slow (took 45min from when we sat down at the table for the food to come out). Would only consider if no other brunch options.

Worth the wait. Food was cooked perfectly. Good portion sizes and we'll presented. Service was fast and friendly. Only complaint was the menu was limited due to covid. Will definitely have to come back and try some of the fancier dishes when things are back to normal.

Long line but a Saturday and it was cold and windy and you have to wait outside. Service was extremely slow. It took forever for just coffee and we had to call our servet for refills. I had a capuccino and was not good. The heavenly crepe was average. The chicken could have used some seasoning. Not much taste. We did like the home fries as they were really crispy. 3 half slices of fruit were also part of the plate. Those were yummy!

I went with my work colleagues on a Friday morning. There were 10 of us. I could tell the bus girl was not expecting a big group but they were able to get a table ready for us quickly and service was great! I had the Banana Split Waffles and they were delicious. The pineapple and strawberry on top was so tasty!

food was really nice and hostess was really sweet. good variety and fresh food.Prices were good.The presentation was really nice and everything looked fresh.The chef was super nice and friendly. a bit of a glitch on trying to get a table for 13 at 13:10 (restaurant closes @ 1400) I think they were short staffed but they were very kind to accommodate us.

The restaurant is in a beautiful building and the city businesses had been open for 36hours when we arrived in Ottawa. So all staff were happy to see tourists arrive. We were welcomed with many smiles (underneath the face masks). Our server was really pleasant. One suggestion, the menu did not mention that non-dairy milk was available. Also it was a black&white photocopy. Food was great, prices a little high. There were no toasts included in any of our plates which was surprising for us. All in all, if I'm in the area I will give them another try.

Staff was very friendly and service was great. The food was prepared quickly and it was delicious. The crispy potatoes were just right, the french toast was fluffy and light. Will definitely be returning.
