Conroy Pit

Tourist attraction Park Dog park

👍👍 Conroy Pit is a lovely place for a walk in the woods with your pup. However, due to the extensive devastation by the May 21 derecho, all access to the wooded paths is blocked by fallen trees, hundreds of them. At the moment it is quite treacherous. People often mention dogs, park, walk, trails, parking, leash, people, great, space, Great,

Always here walking Loki. Meet up with other dog walkers and have some great conversation as our dogs play together

Overall: great park to exercise any size dog and easy walking for most. (If you have some sort of disability, there’s a potential for a dog incident that MAY occur - such as walking between your legs, licking your face and “getting Covid-19”; or even fully sweeping you from under your feet. Please reconsider a friendlier walking path, not a dog park. Because what I’m describing… are the overly excited dogs. This is a dog park: DOGS IN TRAINING There are all types of “terrains”, sand hills, forest walks, open fields, really good park/location and all. Usually leave the park with another human friend :) Catherine and Piper

Our favourite park to go to :) I try to bring my pups at least twice a week. Big off leash dog park that is good for hikes, dog walks and more. There’s many routes and loops you can take around the park. Everyone is pretty good at respecting the space and cleaning up after themselves. There’s good amount of parking - often times you have to park on the road. There’s also another entrance to the park- Athens park entrance.

We love it!! Great open areas and then lovely shady woods. I only wish that they had a public tap there to sloosh off muddy dogs. That would be perfection!

I have been going to Conroy pit for years. I go about 5x a week and love it! Gives my pup a chance to play and socialize with other dogs and I always enjoy a walk in the trails. You can run into some irresponsible dog owners who bring aggressive dogs so just keep an eye out but for the most part everyone is super friendly. Parking can be a bit of a zoo depending on the time you go. Check out Memory lane - it is such a nice tribute for dogs that have passed on.

Love going here with my pups. It seems relatively clean. The trails are nice and everyone seems friendly. The dogs have lots of open space to run or walk. There's trails and open spots.

Beautiful open space for walks, with or without a dog. Dog owners are usually very considerate and even though this is an off-leash park, there is so much space you can always find a quiet, free space. Trees are beautiful and numerous pathways lead into the woods. A really remarkable place to come and see the Autumn colours.

Our dog loves this park, always lots of other dogs to meet and play with. Quite muddy at times but lots of space to roam and play

Mostly it's people walking their dogs off leash. A lot of friendly dogs greeted me. People too. A healthy way to connect with nature, humans & animals. Beautiful place so close to the city.

Best off leash dog park in Ottawa. On the weekends it might be hard to find a parking spot but during the week it’s the best place

Fantastic way to spend an hour or so with your pooch. It’s a vast park with varied trails, wooded and more open. Lots of doggies running happily and free. Bring water for you and your dog, good footwear and try the alternate entrance off Athans park instead of the chaotic conroy entrance.

Love bringing the dog here for some wide open off-leash running. A mix of trails, from open to forested. You always meet lots of dogs and nice people.

I love be dog parks! There is nothing like bringing my friends dog and he gets to run around off leash. I bring a ball - which I know other fish will take away from mine - but owners are always great with helping me get it back. Also it is great for my dog to get exposed to other dogs as he doesn’t get to see many dogs in DT Ottawa. I think any dog would love this park. One thing I would suggest is if you dog is not kid friendly no not bring it here. There is lots of family’s that come here. Many with small children. This is just a suggestion to prevent anything happening.

Great place to go for a walk and especially to walk a dog off leash. Lots of dogs and people. Very little parking available. Woods to walk through and clearings to walk through and let dogs run around chasing each other. There's a lot of downed trees from a large storm a few years ago, but it's been well cleaned up. It's a beautiful for a walk. They even have a nice toboggan hill in the winter.

Great place to enjoy fields and forests with your pup(s). There is a bench to rest as well, that is often open for people to enjoy a quiet break. People are very respectful of space needed for some pups. So much fun watching my pups play and run with other pups.

I recently had the chance to visit the off-leash dog park at Conroy Pit here in Ottawa for the first time and it was fantastic. Seeing all the dogs enjoying nature with their owners was a wonderful experience. Every dog was well behaved which made the experience even better. If you live in Ottawa and have a dog, Conroy Pit is a must visit especially during the winter.

You don't need a dog to enjoy this place. It is truly stunning in fall, especially off the main trail to the south west near Athans Park, south into the main forest and to the north west. Pure woodland with logs, large fallen trees, and a packed tree canopy. It was magical to see the yellow and red leaves fall here. There is a main trail but to see the best you need to follow the smaller paths uphill into the woods.

Maybe the second best off leash area in the city (after Brewer Park). If you take the wide trails, probably 45 minutes of walking. Highly recommended.

Great park for dogs who come when called and who love to meet other dogs of all sizes and running around in nature. Nice people too. Occasional lack of poop pick up.

  • 5/5 Denis L. 7 months ago on Google
It’s a beautiful area. A mix of wide open trails and some more wooded paths. Peaceful. Even with all the other people and dogs, it’s such a large area that you have a lot of space to yourself. Loved it.

I love going to this dog park. Can get quite busy on the weekend and during lunch or after work hours.

Our dogs had a great time here! We took them through a wooded trail that started right off the parking lot and, as is our practice, let our boxer choose the direction. He had a great time with all kinds of new scents to follow! Our Boston Terrier was able to run flat out and burn off some pent up energy. Everything was so clean, and everyone we met up with was so friendly. We are going to definitely be back up there.

Love this place! Big enough to get some steps in solo or with your pup but also frequented enough that you’ll see people on trails or have other dogs around for my pup to interact with. And so many different trails to choose from, like a choose-your-own-adventure space.

Nature has done its thing here and it's quite beautiful to look at. It's also an area where you are allowed to have your dog off the leash and I've never had a bad experience in this community of dog lovers.

Enjoyed taking my dog here. A lot of people go here with their dogs. Ensure that if you bring your dog they have good recall and are not aggressive. If anything keep them o leash and muzzled. I could easily get lost in here but my dog loves the socialization.

A place where your dog can run off leash and explore the woods. Also great for human companions: a lot of trails. I only wish that users be more responsible and pick up after their dogs and put the poop bags in the containers.

Still a great Ottawa City option but it's been heavily damaged by the storm. Hopefully the canopy will fill in over time. Some areas are still mostly intact. Overall, the paths are clear and your dogs will thank you.

Awesome park. Big enough so that you never really have to interact with annoying people. The scenery is not as beautiful as before because of the 2022 storm but the trails are all cleared and maintained. The parking is a bit weird, it feels like a warzone because of all the potholes. Other than that, the park is amazing.

This is one of my favourite places to bring my dog. From the main parking lot you can stay on the main walk that circles back, or take one of the many wooded areas. We like the quiet walks in the forest, expecially in the fall and winter. It's so pretty, and my dog loves it there.

Massive dog park! Beautiful in winter and lots of space for social distancing. The parking situation is not great but we went on a Sunday afternoon which was busy when there is not much else to do in lockdown. Great to have at the east end of the city.

  • 4/5 Katrina M. 3 years ago on Google
I loved it. There lots trails and dogs but I wish there was more signs telling me how to get back to the parking lot. Also more parking when I went theres was 30 to 50 cars parked on the road and the parking lot fill.

Very pleasant and surprisingly large. Haven't been here before since it always looks so crowded from the parking lot, but lots of trails and some off the beaten path where dogs can't necessarily wander.

  • 5/5 Candice B. 3 years ago on Google
Lovely dog park but with minimal parking at the actual parking lot, look for side streets on the other sides of the park so your pooch is safe from oncoming traffic.

Is dark right now, but it’s still a pleasant walk. There are several loops to do, just watch your step because there are way too many people that think dog poop evaporates (hint: it doesn’t). The main trail is well maintained and with so many off shoot trails you could get lost if you wanted to. Dogs are off leash everywhere, don’t expect that anyone will pay attention to that threatening warning sign that suggest fines. There is a single outhouse here, it’s a vault toilet and the cleaning schedule is hit or miss. My preference is just to avoid it, if you’re stuck in the woods and need to poop, you’ll make all kinds of dog friends at the worst possible time (mid wipe). Stay safe out there, and say hello to everyone you pass, you never know I could be one of them!

Great place to take your dog. Has trails to go for a walk and meet other dogs. Parking lot is very small! During busy times people park on the street, making the walk into the park difficulty as you try to navigate with a dog and passing cars.

Open areas and lots of interlocking trails for more shady areas. Can be very busy at the primary parking lot.
