$30 for a "day pass" which is actually a one-time use workout with a four hour limit. Less machines in comparison to most GoodLife. Just put a sign out front saying you don't want new members.

Worst service ever. Club managers can't even trace the mistakenly created duplicate account and charge one person double the fee! And even if one account is suspended, they are happy to start charging from the second one. And I have NEVER been in any club physically! After the conversation, the administrator sent me threats that they would continue to charge 45 dollars every other week. And this despite the fact that I'm not their client. That is, they do what they want. One person can have 100 accounts and they will be happy to make a profit without even informing about such an error. Shame! I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!

The staffs are lovely and helpful. But this gym has got few equipments in comparison to other good life branches. However, the opening timings could be increased. Opening the gym at 7 am makes it difficult for people working from 7-5 to workout.

The equipment is shoddy, often packed with rude guests and weird lack of 45lb plates. Dont go here. Update: They got new plates but thats about it. Clients are still obnoxious and mannerless, everything is crooked (especially squat racks), and nothing is maintained. Good luck getting a barbell because there isn't enough of them for every piece of equipment where they're required. This place caused me some injuries and I will be going there much less frequently. Edit 10/08/19 It's still a very poor facility.

I've only been going regularly since May 2023. Location is arguably the selling point, and the staff are nice. I can't help but notice how often machines are broken however, as well as the amount of time it seems to take to get them fixed. This week I passed between over a half dozen treadmills that wouldn't start (they were 'on', but hitting go wouldn't do anything), and for a few weeks there were numerous weight lifting machines out of order. Also need more spray bottles to wipe machines down (often see paper towel but no spray bottles)

Just moved here from a different city, was excited as my new place was close to the gym. 2 flat benches for bench pressing... went at 6:30pm on a weekday and there were 4/5 people waiting for a bench. 70% of the space is cardio. not gonna be renewing membership.

Busy after work. But one of the rare locations where you rarely encounter groups of young male students working out together. Lots of singles. Predominantly male. One down side of this location, even though it's 3 floors, 99% of the weights and machines are crammed into 1 floor, the ground floor. Because of this, there is often VERY BAD BODY ODOUR ISSUES at this location. Ceilings not very high, ventilation system weak and gym very crowded given small size.

Friendly staff, clean, central location, polite gym goers. No towel service currently, poor available utilization of floor space. I have been visiting this location for over four years. It was initially specified to me that the 2nd floor Turf Zone and racks were for Private Training only and that the TRX area was fair game for all members. With no one else exercising on the second floor, I was surprised by an evening staff member that I cannot use the TRX. I have used this area 50+ times prior without question - inconsistent!

My favourite location! The staff are always very pleasant and give me a personal greeting every time I come in. The staff make it feel like it’s a community. Always very clean and organized. Only downside is being unable to use the turf - even when there’s no personal trainers. I think it’s unfair to limit the turf to personal training only when other locations make it available to everyone.

Been going to this location for the last four years as it's very convenient. The early crowd is where it’s at. You’ll see a lot less people and can actually use the studio room as there are no group classes until 7am. Weekends are also thankfully quiet in the afternoons & evenings. In the weekdays it can get insane. If you insist on going here after work than the days to especially avoid are Tuesdays to Thursdays from 4:30-6:30pm. (You will wait for machines. ) If you want to go in the day, then go between 9-11am and between 1:30-3:30pm. The front desk has a carousel of staff that is sometimes too busy having personal conversations to notice that someone is waiting for a towel or has a question but besides that, they are quite friendly and chipper. The personal trainers seem to be approachable, and some will smile and greet if they notice that you are a regular. The change rooms (women’s) and showers are frequently cleaned. If they are a disaster, blame the working females in the capital who for foreign reasons struggle to clean up after themselves. For example, some will leave their debris behind like little children. In the winter, they will put their winter boots inside the lockers causing mud and dirt to spread. Grown women should know some basics, so it’s not on goodlife fitness to educate them. Machines are VERY slow to be repaired but this is probably the case across Ontario. They also have stopped providing sanitizer in the dispensers at this location. Perhaps it’s no longer in the budget?

I am still giving a 5 stars rating since is the GYM I go to for the last 15 months. I do have a concern and complaint for paying for Towels service and not be able to use the Sauna. The dry Sauna is broken for over a month and half and today seems the ETA is for September 15th. this will make 2 months of payment for towels for nothing...... It would be appreciated that Goodlife take this seriously and get things fixed faster. Every week I call to get an update and every time is a different story. once again the staff is great and the environment at this location. just need to fix the materials and to be fair for all the members. it's not fun to pay for something that you are not using + is not worth of changing the plan for 2-months because the GYM materials are not functioning correctly. if it wasn't for the staff or the place, I would of rate the COMPANY 1/10

I usually go to movati. But since goodlife opened first, I thought why not give it a try. To be honest this been the worst experience with a gym. The staffs are so rude. They took my money and double charged me twice. When I call to ask why, they give you no answer and act so rude on the phone. Never hated a gym as much as this one.

Good gym, but avoid after 3 pm on weekdays. You'll find yourself surrounded by high-school kids either sitting on equipment only occasionally using it while checking their social media on their phones or engaging in mating rituals. Other than that, it's a good gym.

I've been to every Goodlife in Ottawa since I started my membership and this has to be one of the best locations. There's a great selection of equipment and the general layout is neat and aesthetically pleasing. The spin studio is awesome, and so are the people (both staff and regulars)!

A Central downtown gym that has 3 floors. Naturally, its packed at lunch and 5-7pm on weekdays, fairly empty on weekends. The morning staff are really friendly, and I've definitely run into some odd characters at night. The first floor has the classic gym style setup. Half the gym is filled with cardio equipment, while the other half is for strength training. It has 2 bench presses, 3 squat racks, a litany of machines, and about 7 free weight benches. They have a hack squat machine and a hip thrust machine which you dont always find at gyms. The space is used very efficiently. Equipment is well maintained. Gym goers here tend to be at an intermediate fitness level, so are knowledgeable of gym etiquette. I have yet to see someone do bicep curls in a squat rack. The Second floor is reserved for trainers only, while the third has more cardio equipment and a large room for group classes which are generally pretty solid. The change room is adequate. My main gripe is that there are barely any full height lockers, which makes it hard to fit work clothes and a gym bag in the locker; especially in the winter. People also seem to have a hard time leaving their shoes by the door so they dont track snow into the change room. COVID: I would say about 70% of gym goers wear masks. People follow the cleaning rules, and staff are diligent with cleaning after 1 hour timeslots. I feel safe exercising here (understanding full well that being at the gym is essentially the worst place to be in a pandemic).

The club is clean and has lots of equipment. The front desk staff are friendly and professional. Carley, in particular, has helped me at times when I forgot something, or needed logistical support. She is always kind, and engaged while consistently holding onto her professionalism. Thanks to the entire team, and an extra special shout out to the excellent work Carley does at welcoming clients into the club, and keeping the front desk running smoothly (which is no easy task).

The gym itself is great, but the "personal training only" areas and equipment are a bummer. The best equipment and entire areas are behind a paywall for those who can afford a personal trainer.

Large space, but very limited in terms of areas that normal users (paying $50~75/mo) could use. Significant amount of space is dedicated for users with trainers. It would be great if they had more equipment that people use more often. Instead, they have more of lesser used equipments, and less of highly sought-after equipments. Bench press, for example. Even during less busy hours, you will have trouble finding an empty bench press. (***Because there are only two bench presses out of this this three-floor-building!***)

Great staff and nice trainers too. Always kept super clean, the men's showers however could do with some more cleaning because they seem to be rusty and mouldy. I wish the sauna was also worked on more because it doesn't stay hot with cracks in the door but wishful thinking.

Not all but alot of your customer service representatives at the front desk seem to think clients are required to take their winter boots off and leave them unattended on the main floor unsupervised and prone to theft (my boots were stolen). This is the only goodlife location in Ottawa that attempts to enforce this suggestion to this degree - it is not the onus of the customer. We also dont have to put our boots in bags and carry them upstairs (no one likes to have wet socks, not even goodlife employees). If we want to put them in the lockers we pay to use, we will and staff shouldn't harrass clients about this. Seems alot of the staff just wants to bark orders rather than do their roll and greet customers/make sure the entrance remains safe. I think some of the employees would benefit from some formal training.

I’ve been going to this location for over 20yrs…NEVER had an issue until this past weekend (April 22nd @9:30 A.M). I had to use my husband’s card to pay my last payment as they do not accept cash and my account was frozen due to fraud. I explained the situation and that I did NOT want to make any changes on my account as of yet. I went to the gym today (April 25th @ 6:45 P.M) and my key didn’t work, was advised that it was because my payment information was not up to date and that my bank “removed my payment information with GoodLife”…which is not possible as no one has access to GoodLife systems unless you physically log in. Malcolm Hendrix (manager at Queen st. Ottawa, ON) removed my payment information without consent…

It's my first time being at a gym since before COVID, and I've gained a significant amount of weight due to my health. I started going back as soon as the gym opened up and I'm so happy I did. This fitness center is placed in a very convenient location in the heart of downtown. Goodlife offers many great perks, and I've always enjoyed working out at Goodlife. Despite usually not being too crowded and offering a large variety of machines and amenities, I find it a little annoying how there tends to be few places to grab paper towel and even fewer spray bottles for wiping down machines after use. I find myself constantly having to cross the gym and return to the machine in order to wipe down a machine after use and I often also need to wait for others to finish wiping things down before I can use the spray bottle. The staff at this location are always super friendly, and I'd still recommend working out here.

I love the Queen St Goodlife location! The layout is good, although can be crowded when the gym is busy. The real appeal of this location is their amazing personal training program! They have some of the best trainers who really know their stuff and support your success overall. Georges is the best of the best - if you're thinking about personal training at GoodLife, he should be the one you call!

  • 2/5 Adam W. 3 years ago on Google
Social distancing is not possible and they made little or no effort to switch the layout. For example, the bench presses are oriented so that you are head to head. It's also three floors, but everyone is packed into one area on one floor.

I once attended the 9-10pm appointment and I had a last set to finish when it became 10pm (other clients were still exercising). While doing my set, one of the staff members kept insisting that I needed to leave immediately because time is up. But once I left he kept nagging me to clean the equipment before I leave. When I said that I needed to quickly leave since the gym is closing he started arguing for two minutes straight. After I cleaned the equipment (which I always do unless someone wants me outta there asap), the dude literally kept following me everywhere, up the stairs, in the lockers, down the stairs, like some kind of gym police. Such behaviour is unnecessary and can only be interpreted as childish and uncomfortable. Literally, no one was going to use any of the equipment since the gym was closing. Plus, the staff deep cleans the equipment upon closing. I hope this gym facility would consider lecturing some of their staff members on how to behave around clients.

I go here often at night, usually after 8pm. Usually, its not too busy at this time. Cardio machine are usually free but weight training section is often still relatively busy at this time. Also, the staff slacks off on cleaning up the weight training section at this time (they're fine during the day). They often run out of spray and paper towels in the weight training area and I have to tell the staff to refill them. It would be fine if it was one station but its usually 3 or more cleaning stations that are empty. The earphones jacks(?) for pretty much every elliptical machine are broken. There is literally one elliptical machine where earphones work well. They do have good choice of classes. I took spin classes, cardio classes and yoga classes with them and they were all very good.

This gym is great but you pay a VERY HIGH price for the location. It gets so packed that you can barely workout with the free weights sometimes as people are walking in circles to get around each other and come very close to you. That being said, there isnt much they can do about that and isnt anyones fault. Just a fair warning. All around, its well-equipped but there needs to be another gym about that size in the downtown core.

What can be said about good life, a great place to exercise, classes, modern day machines to make your body more than it is today. Lots of monthly plans, if you sign up make sure you use the darn thing.

  • 4/5 Michel de B. 4 years ago on Google
Nice gym, enough equipment that you don't have to wait during lunchtime (which I suspect is one of the busiest times). Bathroom / showers are clean. Somewhat expensive but if you look around for deals or have corporate pricing it is not bad. They are a bit pushy to try to get you to use personal trainers (I suspect they make a lot out of the training sessions).

  • 3/5 Elaine W. 4 years ago on Google
The facility and equipment are pretty gross. Yoga balls are sticky. Their stretching areas on 1st and 3rd floors are disgusting as there is a ton of hair and dust caught between the mats. The stretching areas are SMALL. I wish they could dedicate more space to the stretching area and have more yoga equipment available. But there is a lot of static and heavy weights available. But, the staff are fantastic and so kind. Christian is a great personal trainer and character. Wish the gym could embody their great customer service.

I've only been going for a few months but I have nothing but good things to say about this location. I have not had to wait for equipment in peak hours (but that's probably more to do with the time of the year), the gym has been clean and there is good air movement and no funky smells. The best part is the people -- this location (and I've tried a few in the Ottawa area) has the friendliest and most welcoming staff and personal trainers and the group exercise instructors are fantastic!

Super friendly staff, but a lot of equipment is always broken. The seats in the cycling room are the worst I've seen compared to lansdowne, belleville, aurora... super uncomfortable and worn down. They need to be replaced yesterday. I try to rearrange cardio days to weekends so i can go elsewhere and avoid these seats. Also the towels are always crusty. Use some fabric softener. Ha.

There are concerns with follow-up by management at the Queen’s Goodlife location based on client comments with respect to the men’s changing room. These comments have been shared with staff on a continuous basis. As these client comments have not been addressed, see below, it is unclear if the Queen’s Goodlife management is taking such comments seriously. It is likely that similar comments apply to the women’s changing room. No soap in showers In general more than three-quarters of the soap dispensers in the men’s showers are empty for a period of at least 7 days or more. For example, for the last count there was at least 9 showers with empty soap dispensers. Finding a shower with soap after a workout involves a “Where’s Waldo” chase, which is discouraging, if you are rushed for work after your workout. Ongoing water wastage due to dripping showers Several showers do not shut off and have been continually dripping water, one in particular has a very heavy stream, for over several months. It is unfortunate that the Queen’s Goodlife location does not share an environmental concern about water conservation. Hand lotion empty The 3 hand lotion dispensers in the change room are constantly empty. For example, there has been 1 hand lotion dispenser that has been empty now for over 1 month. Video recording in change room of others by clients Individuals are constantly taking video recordings of themselves using their cell phones in the men's changing room mirrors which also capture images of other individuals in various stages of nudity. There are several stickers on the 4 full length mirrors against video recording in the men’s change room, but somehow Goodlife has decided not to add such stickers on the 2 half length mirrors, where a lot of the video recording has been taking place. In my over 5 years of using this gym, I have yet to see any staff do periodic spot checks of the change room to ensure that video recordings do not occur in the change rooms. This is some information for clients to consider if you want yourself to videotaped naked by someone else without your consent, and worst case scenario, find a video of yourself naked on the internet. Locker shortage due to clients placing locks permanently on the locker Some individuals leave their locks permanently on the lockers in the men’s changing room to “reserve” the locker for their personal use forever. At times, the Queen’s St Goodlife places a “notice” on the locker to inform the user to remove their lock by a “due date”, or Goodlife will remove the lock. I would image that Goodlife gives adequate notice to the user before removing the lock. Surprisingly, in recently looking at several Goodlife notices to remove the locks on the lockers in the men’s changing room, despite that 7 days have passed on the “due date” to remove the lock, Goodlife still has not removed the lock. So if you’re at the Queen’s St Goodlife gym during a busy gym time, and cannot find a locker in the men’s changing room to store your outside clothing, this is the reason why.

Personal Training: I have been training with Mark for a while now at GoodLife Fitness on Bank/Queen St. I enjoy these sessions to the core. Who doesn’t, if you are started with bodyweight squats and struggling to push 90lbs on leg press. Then, with training and constant motivation if are doing 8 times 90lbs, that’s 720lbs! He goes extra and beyond to help his clients, very supportive and patient. My sessions are usually filled with challenging physical training and mental training as well to understand the importance of workouts and living an active lifestyle. His analysis and knowledge sharing about different exercises always keep me interested! Overall, an amazing trainer and looking forward to train with him more in future!
