I don’t live in Ottawa but looked for a nice short outdoor summer evening walk. There is free parking and a series of waterfalls. You can access both sides by the bridge over the dam. Picnic areas. Fun to watch ducks frolic and saw an egret. Very scenic and soothing rushing water.

This place is an absolute gem! The Hog's back falls are beautiful and the walking trails have a lot of scenic views. You can go down to the water a little ways down from the falls but, watch your step the terrain can be very uneven and rocky.

Interesting man made gorge and falls with a dam upstream on Rideau River. The love locks on the railing add a cute & fun element to this place. The underpasses make it convenient to go on the other side of the fall and enjoy the lake view, which during Fall will be heavenly. Climbing the hillock on the lake side gives a great view. There are picnic tables and a big play area for kids. Parking is convenient and I highly recommend this place for its lush greenery and mini falls. Very close to Carleton University as well.

A hidden gem in the city. Lose yourself in the forested paths or find a seat and relax to the sound of rushing water and beautiful scenery. A small restaurant on site with chip wagon style food and ice cream is also a nice touch.

It's a waterfall, the water falls here. Many benches around to see water falling at the waterfall. Oh and theres construction on the bridge rn so no access if you're in a car.

Beautiful waterfall close to the city. Nice hike along the falls to see the rapids. Big parking lot (seasonal). Winter parking is limited on Snowy days.

It's pretty amazing that there is a waterfall nearby and you don't really need to drive hours from Ottawa to see it. My cousin and I literally walked from parliament to here. Feet literally were numb but it was totally worth it. Great view, feels great when you see the stunning waterfall and hear the water rushing down crush on the stones. It's a nice trip for anyone who wants to find a bit of nature in the city!

It’s absolutely astounding that this little piece of nature is right in the middle of the city. Take a walk down the paths or climb down to the waters edge and you’ll forget that there is even a city around you. Beautiful nature, bike/walking paths, concession stands, parking, picnic tables and friendly people make for a pleasant visit.

There's some really beautiful trails around the area and not too many people around either. We were able to see a lot of wildlife, it was almost hard to believe this was near the heart of the city as it felt like we were in Gatineau park for parts of the trails.

Beautiful powerful waterfall, I really love to come here around sunset its gorgeous! Nice spot to relax with the sound of water, couple of people but people normally keep there distance and there's multiple bench to sit and chill/talk. Free parking up to 10pm and bicycle accesible. Here's some shot I captured with my Cellphone and my camera. Definitely worth a visit :)

Lovely park with a few trails to explore with your lover or kiddos. Be careful in the winter along the edge of the river though - the rapids keep the trail icy.

Love this place for walking and biking along. Amazing spot to sit on the rocks or the grass or at tables for a picnic or just to watch the water. Parts of it are accessible, parts are not. But still well worth going to check out, even if accessibility is required.

The Prince of Wales falls is a pretty place to visit to hear and see thousands of gallons of flowing water. The water flow is regulated during the season so come back several times of the year to appreciate its ever changing beauty. The falls looks great in autumn with the surrounding tree leaves changing colours and in winter with the ice formations on the rocks and falls. Cross the bridge and take in the views from both sides of the falls. You wont be disappointed. However, one side of the falls does have irregular steps and is not wheelchair friendly. The falls are very close to the popular Mooney's Bay and Vincent Massey Park. It is accessible by road or by a paved trail.

One of my favourtie nature spots near downtown Ottawa. It's beautiful to witness its changes throughout the different seasons. Good place for doing some amateur sport fishing. Kids really enjoy it as well! If you love waterfalls, this is a must-see!

Gorgeous scenery. Nice place for a walk with lots of good areas to take photos and or stop and relax. Mix of bike paths and walking paths that will eventually lead to nearby Vincent Massey and Mooneys bay. Lots of birds, ducks, whooping crane birds and geese. Unfortunately sometimes there’s too much garbage people are leaving behind near water including beer cans which is unfortunate—While people should clean uk after themselves, I’d like NCC to maybe clean up more. Lots of rock formations and “ridges” on the water and trails that you can walk and sit on and enjoy—watch your kids. Nice place to enjoy a summer or spring afternoon and take a nice stroll. Areas for picnic tables and green space as well for a variety of functions. You can even see the pirate ship on the opposite side of the falls/dam. Ample parking but it’s usually always full. There is access to public washrooms and facilities. Worth a visit.

I've been here many times, and each visit is as beautiful as in the past. I love the power of the falls. Great place for pictures. This is a good place to visit for children and adults. Just ensure children are safe of course. In summer months, the canteen and washrooms are open. They were not open as of yet today.

The Prince of Wales Falls is a very impressive area to explore! The waterfalls and rock ridges along the sides were great to see, and the city was not far away.

Small but powerful waterfall in Ottawa. A parking lot and a bike path are located near the falls. There are benches to relax at, public bathrooms, and a Pavilion that offers a basic BBQ menu. There is a fence along the edge so it should be safe for kids.

Very nice piece of nature in the middle of Ottawa, the free parking lot is very small and limited by 15 minutes only, but you can always park up or down the Rideau river and walk or bike a little bit. There are some pine and spruce trees, so you can enjoy the fall view all year around. If you happen to be there in summer you may swim and enjoy picnic on your way up the river at Mooney's Bay park.

👍👍 I was here on 10/8/17 for the illumination of the Chaudiere Falls. Free event going on until November 5th. The illumination consists of a combination of sounds and a great show of lights projected on the waterfalls. The most convenient way to get there is to leave your car parked by the Canadian Wa...
