Ottawa Boat Cruise : River Cruise (Ottawa Departure)

Cruise line

😠 We did the cruise on the Gatineau QC side on Aug 18, 2022 . It was okay, half the cruise was spent picking up passengers on the Ottawa location and the boat was over crowded. People paid for seats to sit in and it was so overbooked that people standing everywhere that you couldn't move or see much... People often mention boat, tour, cruise, guide, great, Ottawa, time, Canal, booked, people,

Wonderful ride, helpful staff and guide Sandy explained everything in detail (in both english & french languages). This cruise is for 1hr (not 1.5hrs as they say). I would recommend that you opt for 7pm one and take front seat. Not sure if they are selling tickets on the spot, i booked it online.

Very poor signage hard to locate and the name on the board is different than that Paul's boath cruise we asked a person that works for the company he didnt know where it was. After running around for 25 min we found location. When called the number it seems out of service. Extremly disappointed with this experience. Save your money and find a different company. The picture below is the only sign we found and it was a different name. The tour ... the sound is not clear very muffled and hard to understand. They need a better sound system with better speakers and balanced sound. This is an expensive trip and my expectations where definitly not meet.

The actual cruise is about an hour - this should be made clear up front. 20-30min is spent waiting at each dock to pick up passengers. The boat and washrooms are clean, though viewing areas are limited. Tip: grab a spot on the first level, not upstairs. The guide was pleasant and provided some basic information on buildings and sites. This area of the tour could improve with some mix of history or other interesting facts about the region. There is a bar and some small snacks like chips offered. Staff was very friendly. Overall, I would probably not do this tour again. I would probably opt for the water taxi which serves pretty much the same route or the floating palapa bar.

We did the cruise on the Gatineau QC side on Aug 18, 2022 . It was okay, half the cruise was spent picking up passengers on the Ottawa location and the boat was over crowded. People paid for seats to sit in and it was so overbooked that people standing everywhere that you couldn't move or see much. Had a Canal Cruise booked for Aug 19, 2022 at 10 am. Stopped by the kiosk and asked for directions. The representative directed us to where the Ottawa Cruise was instead of the Canal Cruise. Of course the boat never came because we will mislead. Called customer service and they blamed us and told us we were lying and weren't there on time OR at the right location. Our fault for asking there representative /Trip Advisor and given wrong information. We stopped to speak to the same person who mislead us, he used my cell phone after I dialed the number, spoke French knowing we didn't understand the language with customer service to ask for a refund, as no other time would work for us and we would be going home the following morning early. Asked for an email regarding what he sent for a refund to be sent to me, never got one. Told that on Friday that no manager is in till Monday and a refund would take 7-10 business days. Received an email from Julia Oliveira saying "Unfortunately, our tickets are non-refundable as stated on our tickets and website." They have the worst customer service, will take your money, not give it back and aren't accountable for there own mistakes. Not worthy of even 1 star and its was reported to Better Business Bureau

We had booked a reservation online days before, we’re walking over towards the boat when the boat left the departure 5 minutes before it was supposed to. Not sure why they left early, considering they knew there would’ve been somebody missing from the boat because of the reservation done in advance. When we called to get a refund or another boat ride scheduled there was no answer. We called multiple times with no answer. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend to any family or friends.

I had an exceptional time on this cruise. The tour guide was hilarious and kept everyone entertained, while also explaining the history of what we were seeing. We saw Parliament, Rideau Canal, the Prime Minister's Residence, Rideau Falls, various embassies, 3 bridges, and a lot more. I embarked on the Ottawa side. There was a little Paul's Boat Line info kiosk on the sidewalk on Wellington Street, near the Canal, so we got directions on where to go to meet the boat. Essentially, take the stairs down onto the west side of the Rideau Canal, and walk all the way down to the Ottawa River (past the Bytown Museum). You will see stairs and a ramp, and you can wait around there. You can see the boat coming to dock from a distance. There is a washroom on board as well as a canteen. I would recommend sitting on the right side of the boat to get the best view.

Awful. The only pros are good tour guide and clean boat. The cons are that with tax it costs $40 for a 1 hour boat ride and boring itinerary. The last 30 minutes is just to drive back to the loading dock and pick up people from Hull. Boat tours are not supposed to be so boring! Only the first 1 hour was interesting and then people really wanted to get off after. It literally took us in a small circle where you couldn’t see that much. It was mostly trees and I could have seen all of those attractions up-close and in person for free. I feel so ripped off and wished I could have spent my money on anything else. I suggest you stop offering this tour because it is really horrible.

We had a great experience for our group just yesterday. The weather was great, and we saw all the main sights throughout the river cruise. Pascale, our guide, was fantastic. She was energetic, and professional, pointing out the buildings and giving quick history lessons flawlessly both in english and french. the tour lasted around 1h30, well worth it. Would recommend.

Not a bad way to see some sights. You don't see as much as you hope, but you do see the main sights of the city. Boat is very slow. Guide is friendly, but didn't seem able to answer any questions, I think they just know the script. Want to do the canal cruise if we're back in town.

We had a sunset datenight on the Ottawa River Cruise as part of a collaboration on our Insta page @agata_and_warren_travel It was a lot of fun!!! The views from the Ottawa river are incredible! The boat has two decks, plenty of seating and a bar. Once it gets going, you're free to move around. In addition to the amazing views, you also get a commentary on Ottawa's points of interest as seen from the boat. It's a relaxing, fun way to explore Ottawa. Perfect for datenight, group outing, girls' night out, and everything in between.

We had an ok experience, but we won't recommend it or do it again. (-) The boat was packed when we went on board, and we wasted over half an hour dropping people off across the river. It was disorganized with some people coming out while others were trying to go upstairs. (-) Bar was pricey ($4 for a small water bottle?!) and the pop didn't even have gas. You may want to bring your own drinks and snacks. (+) We were impressed that guide Andy knows it all by heart! (+) The views are beautiful on a sunny day, and the breeze upstairs is amazing. We suggest the company put better signage at the Hull Marina (the QR code on the wall of the hut directs people to the Ottawa side pick-up spot).

It was pretty dismal. They have created those side chairs they call premium. The boats pretty old and definitely not worth what they charge PP. I don't think I'll return and certain, many wouldn't.

Perhaps I'm luckier than some other reviewers here, but I booked both the Ottawa river cruise and the Rideau Canal cruise in their combo package, and both tours were great! The Rideau trip is a 4/5; while the boat and tour guide was nice, the deck is low and close to the water, and there were some issues with seeing past the banks of the canals, even while standing. The Ottawa river tour is a 5/5; the double-deck boat lets you see very far, and you get a great mix of wonderful landscapes, landmarks, and a close-up with a waterfall.

We took the 11 AM river cruise on July 2 and were quite underwhelmed by the experience. Roughly 30 mins of the hour and half long cruise were spent in pick-up and drop-off. The guide provided good bilingual commentary, sharing interesting facts and stories about Ottawa's past and present. Not worth paying for priority boarding however.

It was a great experience for us personally. Everything went fine we boarded on time, departed on time and the weather was absolutely pleasant. The crew were helpful and our tour guide Andy was really entertaining us to her best. We had some nice views of the Parliament Hill and the various embassies that dot the coast. I'd say it was great for me and my family had a great time. So there's room for improvement? Absolutely some things can be improved for eg the tour guide can provide a bit more information on some of the buildings.

Staff and crew were great and commentary was very ibformstive! Disappointed it was only 1 hr with no indication ahead of time. We did the 90 min Canal tour that was actually 90 minutes so we thought this one would be also. It should be advertised as 60 min upfront.

Our cruise of the Rideau Canal was one of our best experiences in Ottawa! Despite muggy weather and rain, our tour host was spectacular and absolutely made the cruise. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. Thanks for the great time

I had an amazing time! I learned a lot of things! There was a tour guide named Pascale she was doing an amazing job! She spoke french and english which is amazing! My only critic is they should put a cover in the docks so that passengers have shelter from heat and rain while waiting for the boat.

So much fun! Our bilingual tour guide (Jacinthe ) was so energetic and entertaining, and it made for a really enjoyable afternoon. What a great way to take in such beautiful scenery on both the Ontario and Quebec sides. You also learn quite a bit about the history of Ottawa / Gatineau as well some cool tidbits about government and architecture. And, there's a bar :)

I booked the tickets online, and the confirmation screen stated I'd be getting an email with the tickets- that never arrived. I had to go back into my browser search history and luckily was able to pull up my confirmation and take a screenshot of it, or else it would have been a real hassle. I bought a package including a boat ride and another activity, and before I booked the tickets I called the boat line to find out how it works- it didn't actually work the way it was explained to me, but luckily I booked in advance enough to be able to contact the other provider and get that booked as well- 2 days after I purchased the package. The website stated different departure times for the Hull marina and the Ottawa locks (the departure is down by the Bytown museum) and although we were walking up to the dock 25 minutes early, the boat was already almost there. Had we arrived closer to the times stated on their site, we might have missed the boat, as the boat actually left the locks location before the actual departure time stated. Despite this, it was a lovely sunset cruise experience, the crew was great, the tour guide provided some interesting information, and everything else went smoothly. I'd advise that if you're booking online, to do so with plenty of advanced notice and take your own screenshots as the confirmation emails may not arrive.

Even if admission was $5, I would have felt robbed. Dirty, old, and extremely boring. Not worth wasting your time. Staff tried hard, but gross boat overall.

Very hard to find, hardly no info on where to go to board. Gps doesn't acknowledge the address, not good when you don't live here. The tour operator does not answer the phone either. Plus, why are we having to pickup and drop off other people? For a extra 20min n sitting in the hot sun. The "other boat ride doesn't do this. Next time I would recommend the other tour. KO it's definitely worth the extra $5, no plastic chair eith!

Took the 7pm cruise from the Hull Marina. The boat then went to the Rideau Canal to pick up more people, waited till 7:30pm to take off. The cruise is not 1h30 since we had to wait half an hour before we took off for the cruise. So, in reality the cruise is 1h only. Ordered some drinks from the bar and the were served in a plastic cup...very cheap for $9 a drink!!! You guys should check out the cruises in Kingston where there's ambiance music while there's no MC and the drinks are actually served in a glass with all the trimmings! The cruise was fine and the MC Lady was very good!

Weekday tour in September. We loved it. Good for teens and seniors. Brennan did a great lesson, everything we needed to know glad we had this chance. One hour total, quite a walk from parking at Byward

😠 So very hard to find. Was boring. So hard to get any pictures or see anything because of sitting. Had to fight to get pics I did get. Being your own water and snacks.. Water was 4.50 a bottle 😳 I was soooo looking forward to this. So very disappointed. Do not waste your money.
