Average Indian Pakistani restaurant in Rouen. There are very few options for vegetarian however I must admit that Garlic and cheese nan was amazing.

I convinced my wife to celebrate her birthday to try out this restaurant based on its great reviews. We were very disappointed with the food. We ordered a chicken biryani and a prawn curry. The biryani portion was very small including some very small pieces of chicken. The main disappointment was the lack of flavour in the biryani. It was bland. The prawn curry was also a very small portion (though it came with a small amount of rice). The prawn dish did have good flavour. The food amounted to €24. Based on the bland biryani and small portion sizes, we are disappointed and will not be returning to this restaurant.

Everything is good, you can go there with your eyes closed! It's one of those small restaurants, which are gems, where the sole smell of good cuisine surprises you as soon as you enter this atypical place, you will be greeted by a warm and adorable waiter who will take you on a journey through the history of the dishes he knows like the back of his hand! You will sometimes see the cook who comes to greet the regulars and see if everything is going well, don't hesitate to tell him that the dishes are delicious, there is a friendly atmosphere here! My favorite dish will always be butter chicken and its fragrant rice, with a cheese nan to die for, but, after all, everyone has their own tastes! Treated like family here! Food is authentic Indian and very tasty. For under 50 Euros you can have a feast. Portions are average size, so you can order 3 to 5 dishes and share them at your table. We liked the biryani poulet, corvettes masala ( spicy shrimp dish), legumes maison (tasty vegetable dish), poulet dall (chicken with lentils in an Indian sauce) and naan bread and samoussa as a starter.

Do you want to eat Halal. Do you want to eat good food which you know serve halal food, then Shalimar Restaurant is your destination. I ordered Chicken karahi with plain Naan. It was awesome, as I like spicy they made it to my choice. The species was balanced with chicken completely cooked and good to taste. Due to entertained everyone they use boneless chicken. Then I asked them if they have "doodh pati Chai", here you go they make excellent milk tea . The tea was completely blend into milk which showed it boiled completely , the hint of cardamom in tea is like " Icing on the cake". The total bill was €15.45 . You cannot go wrong visiting this place. It's one of few Halal restaurant as I am aware who do not serve Alcohol. In the end one more satisfied customer walking out the door completely satisfied. Another positive thing they have English menu so people from US and Canada visiting this city can choose and understand what they are buying. Bravo to Shalimar Restaurant.

Good indian rest

Exactly what I needed on this cold day! Spicy Confort food 🌶 Lovely small restaurant with friendly welcoming. Food was excellent, The jasmine rice was well cook and smell delicious. Same for the Naans both was good and de Daal lentil's tasty and warm. Just one regret, when you eat alone as me, you focusing your attention on details and the sound of microwave was to much present. 🤔

Second family visit to this restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant for a large number of reasons, the friendliness of the manager, who in addition to being an icon is incredibly attentive to his customers. The dishes are delicious. This place is sure to provide a friendly and pleasant time. No more doubt about our next visits to Rouen! Ps: Chicken Shahi Korma is delicious!

Not a fancy restaurant, but very tasty food and friendly service! I can definitely recommend the chicken with spinach sauce and our kid was super happy about his butter chicken!🙃

Tasty food, extremely friendly staffs.

Everything was incredibly delicious and super reasonable! We had chicken tekka, chicken curry(amazing flavor!), butter chicken curry and naan nature. Our daughter couldn’t stop eating freshly baked Naan.:) If we stayed in Rouen for a longer time, we definitely would have come back here.

The hospitality I received as an Indian in Pakistani restaurants have been amazing so far and this was not an exception. The owner baba was so kind so suggest us so food which will better suit our Indian taste buds. The quality of the food was amazing and for a very reasonable price.

For a rather grotty, tiny little restaurant, this is incredibly poor value. 9 euros for a tiny side dish of dahl. Veg biryani was little more than a bowl of rice with a couple of slivers of green beans (11 euros). We complained about portion size and we're given an extra dahl. The proprietor knew he was ripping people off.
