Very chic restaurant in the main alley of the ancient city of Gruyères with nice front and back terraces. We had tasty craft beers: Cardinal and Grimbergen. A grand planchette de Salaison as starters and of course the famous Fondue moitie- moitie as main course. Strongly recommend.

Gruyeres Traditions serves as one of three-four restaurants within the Chateau du Gruyeres area. They have a decent-sized second and bottom floor. The service we received was overall quick. Ordered lemonade, rosti gruyerien, and cheese macaroni. One con would be the taste of the food as it wasn’t friendly to my palette and the few options — not a fan of fondue. Understandable as it’s situated in a pretty isolated part. Loved their insulation as it was cold and rainy when we visited (Mon, Dec. 26, 2022).

They seem to be understaffed or they just need to do something with how they work. I arrived at 16, and took maybe 30 minutes before my table was cleaned from the last before me. Then I when I ordered maybe after 10-15 minutes I didn’t get the food before 17:30, they had forgot to tell the chef they said. I got an extra hot chocolate for that. It seemed like they prioritized to do the wrong things so customers had to wait for a long time. It was also freezing where I sat on the table next to the door. So they should isolate better or do something so it won’t be that cold when sitting inside. I had to have a down jacket on and I had already a wool sweater on. The food was good, but over all experience and service was not good.

Skip all those restaurants on the plaza. Sit in the patio and enjoy the panoramic views and delicious fondue. Don’t get flat water, they charge $5, just drink wine.

I visited this place on a Wednesday Dec 21st, 2022 for lunch. Location: Located almost at the entrance of Gruyere Medieval City. It has outside and inside seating. Ambience: Christmassy and cozy environment. Most people tourists. Service: Very polite and attentive staff. They speak english, Spanish, german. Food: The two dishes we ordered were delicious. We had a salad and a traditional dish. Portions are big, so one dish should be enough. Drinks: We had a Belgian Res Fruity beer. Half a litter and it was worth trying. Tips: No tipping in Switzerland. Price: About $40 per person (Meal + Drink + Coffee) There are a few options in this area but this one I think standout just by looking at the menu.

The best traditional restaurant in town! If you have the chance to come as an early bird, you’ll see the cheese maker preparing the the Original Guyère cheese in front of you. The waiters are talented, Yannick and Rocio the owners will make sure you’re enjoying the moment. Can’t wait to come back! PS: kids are welcome

We just had breakfast at the restaurant and it was a very pleasant experience. Yannick, the owner, seems passionate about his business and was there since the opening to make sure everything was in order. The buffet were very well presented and with good quality options. He took the time to speak with clients and address the needs. I recommend it!

2 stars because the waitress was nice and the place too, but the food... omg... I think I pick up the wrong choices. The thinnest roastbeef I ever met in my life coming directly from fridge, useless fried potatoes coming from freezer and a salad that taste exactly like the ones prewashed and premaded bought at lidl... All this with a Guinnes in bottle (my fault, I assumed that for 8 euro, it was a beer on tap and not pre-packaged). All this stuff for more than 40 euro !? C'mon! If u come here, take the fondue!

Cheese fondue is good. Must try. Service was not consistency, female staff seems doesn’t want to service Asian customers.
