Hotel rooms are quite small but clean and cozy. I had a problem with the balcony door that would not close and the wind was wistling all night. The hair dryer was not working too. Breakfast buffet was quite complete and food was acceptable. Can be nice for family vacation especially the ground floor rooms with the private pools. There is a tennis court.

The hotel itself is nice enough, but probably a 3 star and not 4 star as advertised. The rooms were always clean and a small ant issue was dealt with quickly. The pools are good (but cold), the beach is very small in depth but wide and isn't the cleanest. It could definitely do with a lick of paint and some fixtures and fittings replacing. There is only one small bar to drink at in the evening, with nowhere near enough seating for the size of the hotel, so the only option is to go to the entertainment, in an indoor hall through the car park, which is somewhat lacking. The food in the restaurant was very good for all inclusive, however it is all served by the cooks which gives it a school-dinner feeling. The waiting staff in the restaurant are all very pleasant but highly under-staffed - they serve drinks as well as clearing/setting tables so it's often a long wait to get a drink, why they can't just have self serve drinks is beyond me! Not all of the rooms have a balcony, so be sure to book one with one. There's one guy selling boat trips, but he isn't pushy like many other places we've been. The on site shop is very cheap and, again, the staff are not pushy at all, which makes a pleasant change from other places. The drinks on offer are quite basic, with many standard cocktails not being served. Food isn't served at all times, which wasn't an issue but good to know (no food 10-12, or after 9pm). While we were there, there was a tennis tournament taking place (which happens a lot), so part of the restaurant was reserved for them and they took up a lot of the lobby bar area and pool table. Overall, we had a good week, but we won't be returning as there are a few too many little issues, the main one being the lack of seating for an evening if you don't want to be subjected to the karaoke night, 'circus' or silent disco. Also, despite the transfer time being stated as an hour on the TUI website, it took an hour and 45 minutes to get here, there was no traffic at all so no excuse for the difference.

Just back from a quiet nice holiday in skates family resort ( new name). Rooms okay but a little outdated. Clean, towel change every day, cleaned every day. Airco, although he worked, not much coolness. Hallways need some maintenance. Employees: great, just great! Friendly, nothing is to much. Spa: so so, I had a great massage, but my friend didn’t. The pedicure, to much shaving so blood and open wound. And during the facial the woman who performed it was doing her own nails and was watching movies on her phone with the music on ( not really relaxing) Special mention: the 2 guy’s in the spa who are de manual therapist and physiotherapists! I hurt my ankle 8 weeks ago and still not healed so we talked about that and they gave me a session ( for free) and my ankle is much much better! ( and they are nice and interested) Swimming pools are okay, but at 07:00am the most beds have towels on them and every body is okay with that. ( quit irritating) Food: really good, variety and fresh. Entertaining and kids club: not applicable so nothing to say about it. Beach: very nice

Magic skanes is a perfect holiday hotel for families. We travelled with two children, 5 and 11 months and my mum. We booked the duplex room which gave us downstairs bathroom, toilet, superking bed, an additional cot and a balcony overlooking the pool and Seaview. Upstairs were two single beds, a lounge area with sofabed and balcony. We loved the two pools, one with slides, music, a bar, kids area and games put on by the entertainment team and the other a calm, tranquil, pool with bar nearby. Loungers were comfortable and they provided a soft, thick sun cushion and towels. The food at the buffet was delicious and varied. Plenty of themed evenings, not once did we get bored. The specialist pizza guy made stonebaked pizzas which were to die for! Service was incredible! The staff are amenable, full of personality, charming and soon became part of the family. Our only criticisms were that the meal times were late for children. 12.30 lunch, 6.30 dinner. Our baby was hungry way before these times, particularly with the heat and swimming. Our baby was actually unwell and the hotel got a doctor to come to the room and see us over. Very quick, cheap and through. A quick prescription which they drove to get and drop off to us. Excellent service. We would have liked a few more restaurants. The Tunisian speciality restaurant was exceptional, we would have liked to have more of this such as , a fish restaurant or Italian restaurant etc. The location is quite remote. Outside of the hotel there is literally nothing . If you get in a cab you aren't far from other amenities but it is not the type of holiday area with a town and restaurants to wander through. For us, this was fine. We were also concerned about safety. All in all, a great family holiday. Love to all who helped us .

A visit I wouldn't wish on anyone, the hotel was kept clean ,our super king size bed was comfy and the air con worked the beach was spectacular and the pool area was clean ,now onto the negative stuff the food and themed evenings were just awful the breakfast was terrible, please don't expect any pork related food ever so no bacon or sausages the cleaners done a good job but the bar staff were rude to the Mrs on several occasions for no reason on the ten nights we was there they had no diet drinks at for 7 or 8 and run out of vodka and rum and at least 5 or 6 by 2100 hrs the waiters in the restaurant were poor and didn't seem to care and tunisia in itself was a massive bombsite a two hr transfer from airport to hotel each way ( after being told it was 30-45 mins ) and the one day we left the hotel and travelled into monister we didn't feel safe and the locals were rude and hostile , prices were alot higher than turkey and overall we would never return . P.S the airport going home will not accept local money but charge all goods in it , so make sure you change your money back to sterling before leaving the hotel .

We stayed here for a weeks holiday. Upon arrival the reception staff were friendly and efficient. We got to our room and our bags were delivered by a porter. (With a tip). The room was well laid out it even had a fridge in. We had a family room which has the kids beds separated by a door. Like any hotel you could hear when people went past the room but you couldn't hear anything from the next door rooms. There are several pools to pick from and the water slides are good fun. The beach is down about 10 steps or an access ramp. For drinks there are bars by the 2 pool areas, one behind reception and a beach bar. Meals are served in the restaurant. Snacks are available at certain times by the relax pool bar, snack room above beach bar and sandwiches next the beach bar. There is a good selection of food at each meal and evenings have a theme to them. But for the kids or fussy eaters there are the classics still available. The staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The kids club is done indoors with a covered outdoor area. The evening entertainment is held in one of the 2 locations. The only issue we had with the entertainment was how late it started. Kids disco started at 8.30pm and then main entertainment started at 9.30 pm. The whole family had a great time and we would definitely go back.

I have been there for the tennis tournaments and spent two weeks there. Beautiful place and the beach attached to the resort. Nice tennis courts, Nice rooms. Big pools. A good get-away place. There are r with their own pool. So yes, I will certainly go there. Four stars instead of five as it doesn't have too many vegetarian dishes. In fact, I found two or three dishes suitable for vegetarians.

There is a developing pattern here of TUI upstarring their hotels by an extra star. This has no pool service so expect to stand in line at the bar. In addition to this it is lacking other perks expected from a 4 star hotel. For example tea making facilities are a chargeable extra. And be careful a balcony does not come with a standard room. My family and I were hassled all yesterday by people selling on the beach then to top it off a female hotel worker had a go at me because I didn't want hassling whilst writing this review by the pool. Expect updates. Motorcycles and horses on the beach. And earl morning leftovers.

I would recommend staying in this hotel to everyone. I dont understand how someone can complain about the food or lack animators or the programs around. They come around all day asking if you want to do an activity while joking with you And entertaining you. There is no question about the food, it was delicious and plenty of everything. Each dinner is to a different style for example: Italian l, French, Tunisian.... About the service for a small bakssheesh (tip) of 3 tunisian dinars, they will take care of you as their own, they will do a lot for such a small bribe. Toboggans for children very attractive and they will enjoy a lot there. On the beach the sea is clean And beautiful, So when it blows the sea is little dirty but nothing that can be crossed and swim further. They clean it every morning. There best animators: Bibo And Gogo thank you. I Will reiterate that they higly recommend them to everyone. Thanks for all.

Good hotel, nice swimming pool, good facilities and the beach is nice. The food is almost the same but not bad, the waiters are no kind. It's big hotel and the timetable is so close

Small hotel with all the facilities you need for a short stay. We had a duplex room which was perfect for us but that sofa bed is probably only sufficient for a child. The rooms were cleaned every day but a little annoyed when we arrived late at night finding only 1 toilet roll and 1 bottle of water for 5 people. The restaurant was very clean and food plentiful but found over the last few days of our trip it got really busy and it was difficult to find seating. The food does vary but just got fed up of with the same desserts and some of the specials which just weren't so special. The pools are clean and well maintained. The beach itself is ok but probably wouldn't wonder too far as the sight of rubbish all over isn't great. There is security at the beach day and night but anyone can just stroll over. There isn't a lot to do outside the resort but can easily get a taxi outside the gates or walk across the road to catch the metro train which is never on time but very cheap and with perfectly working AC. Personally did not like Tunisia and don't see any reason to visit . Every where you looked outside the resort you just saw rubbish and rubble piled up. If you haven't been to an all inclusive resort before and don't want to leave the hotel this place is worth a go. Must say well done to the cleaners and restaurant staff. The hotel is one of the cleanest I have visited but they need more staff in the restaurant during peak periods.

Would I go again? I’m not sure - I would have to think long and hard about it. Bads: The AC is on only from 1st June onwards. We went last week of May and despite the temperatures being above 30C, the hotel refused to turn the AC on, TUI said there’s nothing we can do about it. So beware. The internet is not reliable. There are pockets in the resort where it’s good, and our room wasn’t in that pocket. It’s bad enough that you couldn’t reliably use it to communicate with other people in the resort. The food is quite boring (but probably OK if you think of it as ‘free’) - there are some fixed station (pasta, pizza, chips, rice) and somethings that changed daily. The pools are only open for a limited time. The slides are restricted even further (which you could probably explain as it requires lifeguards etc). But even the indoor pool closes at 6pm so if you wanted to go for a swim after 6pm anywhere, you can’t. There isn’t a whole lot to do apart from the beach and the pool. The non-buffet restaurant is closed on Sunday and there’s no mention of this anywhere. The barber is only available on a Monday - which is pointless if you arrive and leave and a Monday. Goods: There is some form of food or drink available the vast majority of the day. There are many drink stations that will serve both hot and cold drinks most of the day, and the snack bar is also open when the main restaurant is closed. The pools are large and clean. The cleaners are there all day long. The slides are good. It’s enjoyable. The beach is private, clean, and the staff there are good. They will put out recliners for you, and there is a drinks bar there too. The water activities are reasonably priced. The location is quite good and the reception were helpful in calling a taxi (you pay the taxi when you come back) - and the taxi fares are good. The local attractions are within 15-20 drive, with El-Jem about an hour away. The breakfast is good - there is a good variety of food. There is a money exchange at reception with rates equivalent to Mastercard.

Currently still here. I'm on my last day with my 2 small kids. This was the best holiday I've ever been on. The weather has been absolutely amazing. The hotel is beautiful as is the surrounding area. The hotel looks just like the pictures. We were welcomed by the staff upon arrival everyone was just so nice. My room was cleaned daily by the lovely cleaning ladies and I was even left a complimentary fruit platter and sweets. The food here is lovely. Fresh and hot, there was something for even the most pickiest of eaters. Jawhar often served me and my girls. He's is so lovely and gracious to us and even set up a table for us for dinner with all of our favourite drinks. The pool is great very spacious. I could always get a lounger no problems there. The beach is literally a stones throw away. Again plenty of loungers and a good amount of water sports to take part in. Only downside for me is there wasn't an ATM machine on site or local so bring a good amount of cash. I wanted to tip some staff but soon realised I couldn't because I couldn't get any cash. I plan to come back for a short break in October I love it so much here.

The actual hotel is really nice looking and clean with some nice pools, my issues are just a bunch of small issues that kinda compiled, my true rating would be 3.5 stars Now where to start, •For some reason they decide to close the pools at 7pm. I've been to community pools that stay open longer than that, unless you paid extra for one of the rooms with a private pool you can't chill in the water while it's night drinking or what not, they also close the water slides during lunch even though not everyone is eating, although that just may be a staffing issue. • my biggest issues were the dining, it being all inclusive was really nice but it felt like the waiters were swamped, although it's like a buffet the waiters have to clean up the tables, set the tables, get drinks AND silverware each for like 10 tables, I feel like it would be really easy to just set all the silverware aside somewhere near the buffet so people can grab them as a they go instead of waiting at a table for 5 minutes until the already busy waiters get a chance to get you silverware and a cup of soda •EVERY single cup of soda I've gotten Maybe other than 5 were all flat and or warm, the fountains they used for cokes just were never stocked with co2, the cafe near the reception that was the only place that gave me a cold nonflat cup of soda, sometimes if you ask for a coke zero they will have to open up a new bottle, this could also just be solved by them instead giving cans of each soda instead of having big open bottles sitting there for minutes

Fantastic place to stay, staff very helpful and friendly. Arrived after midnight and had prepared some food & drinks for us. Lots of different food options, all prepared & cooked fantastically. Good day & night entertainment. Definitely go back.

Nice hotel, pretty, clean pools, and amazing beach (shallow, with white sands and warm water)... Food isn't bad but can get manic. Fully inclusive is worth it but a limited selection of wines and spirits and cocktails are pretty radioactive (as are the fruit juices). The 'locals' aren't too keen on the English and tend to push in but the staff are lovely.

Love this hotel! been twice now once with kids once without, cannot fault all the staff so helpful and friendly, 2 good size pools, one quite and sloped, one with games, slides and music, right on the beach, sea's lovely and warm, sand like powder, never struggled for a sunbed, had a swim up room nice at the end of the day as cooler than the pool, food nice plenty of choice, wouldn't hesitate to stay again

Do not visit if you aren’t in a group or with a family. Me and my friend wanted a nice relaxing holiday and thought as this was a family resort we would feel safe. Money was stolen from my zipped up suitcase that was well hidden and the hotel staff couldn’t care less. It must have been cleaners as it went missing Whilst I was out by the pool meaning I had no money to pay my tourist tax which again the hotel staff demanded from me so my friend had to pay. From day one me and my friend were constantly pestered by the hotel staff, made to feel very vulnerable and on edge, being physically touched even Persistently asked on dates by multiple staff members which we did not want. Definitely not the place to go with your girly friends for a relaxing break as the men won’t leave you alone. Even when covered from head to toe at dinner we both had some crude disgusting remarks made by passers by. Did not enjoy this holiday at all and we are both very polite respectful people. Oh and also whilst by the pool the kitchen set on fire we could see flames and although it was noticed fairly quickly thank god, no alarms went off. Very worrying. Will not be visiting again.

Wonderful hotel, good facilities and pools. Beach front is fairly small but was never crowded. Good variety of food and always excellent service. The complete complex was immaculate and cleaned top to bottom every day.
