The collection is impressive for such a small museum. But maybe it would be nice if the security on the floor will not make fun of the visitors right into their face. The security guard was quite rude and made fun of me and my friend just because we wanted to capture some photos in the museum.

The museum is not that big, the staff hardly speaks any language other that German. No shop opened, no café. One sit available per floor. Having to ask for the use of lift and they did it with a lack of grace.

Great collection, not too big or small. They show it based on theme rather than time (although it is grouped by each 500 year period) which is a great fit for the size of the collection. I speak fluent German, but the guards are really not very nice. We were a bit on the later side of the day, but they kept asking if we knew they closed at 5. Of course we did, the person selling the ticket told us ! 😂 To be fair, the tickets were reduced in price (3 rather than 6 euros) due to some art pieces missing, which was nice.

Very nice museum with a great collection of Dürer right at the moment ( until October 2021). For a small city like Aachen the collection of this museum can really surprise you. Definitely recommended for the art lovers. What I did not understand is, why they have all these extreme unfriendly night club security guys inside. They really do their best for you to feel uncomfortable. Not something you would expect from a museum.

Dürer expo is certainly worth a visit, unfortunately quite busy and guided tour groups are a really bad idea in a museum with limited space.

Absolute Empfehlung.

Exploring different cultures without venturing too far from home is a choice many of us make. For years, one of our favorite spots has been Aachen. Whether it's for a shopping trip or just a day out, we've frequented this city countless times. We've checked off most of the museums on our list, but somehow, the Suermondt Ludwig Museum always slipped our minds. That was a mistake on our part. Let me tell you, it's definitely worth a visit. The museum's interior is stunning, and its collection is truly impressive. We spent a good chunk of time immersed in the temporary exhibition "HEIMSPIEL: FLÄMISCHE MALEREI ZU HAUSE IN AACHEN." We're already planning to return someday to explore the rest of the museum's rich offerings.

Nice compact museum presenting a wide collection of relgious pieces, Dutch painters, some colonial artefacts, and a bit of modern art. The building itself is very beautiful and worth attention - a formal palace.

Collection includes a Rembrandt and Zurbaran, and exceptionally curated medieval sculpture.

Great collection and well explained art pieces. At the moment, the top floor is closed but the price is then reduced

The exhibitions aren’t organised with any logic, there’s very little explanations in english and the staff doesnt speak english either except for the ticket agent

Loads of different exibitions. Staff is not very friendly to younger people or kids.

Had a variety of things to see, but mostly Christian artwork and artifacts. There is nothing interactive or really modern in the museum. Not for kids. Interesting architecture, some rooms look old and fancy and some are modern and plain. Definitely interesting if you are into christian art history.

Did not expect this nice a museum in a midsize city.

The museum is overall nice, it lacks a larger section of far past. Or at least I couldn't find it. In the older section there was a very impressive celling. I loved the stained glasses at the top floor. Moreover, you can't take photos inside.
