All vegan, super nice tasty food and for a really good price! You can fully customize your dishes and there’s a lot to choose from. The seating area is cozy and the staff is lovely. Definitely recommend, even if you’re not vegan or vegetarian you definitely won’t miss anything!

TL;DR: I almost rated them 4 stars (see Cons) but in the end, I really enjoyed the flavors of everything we had, so 5 stars it is (for take out). Pros: - overall, the food is very tasty, everything we tried was really good - cashew chicken (kip) is delicious, amazing flavors there - fried rice was delicious - the food is a bit oily but I'd expect that from a place like this, it eas definitely not too greasy - the staff is pretty nice (could be a bit better -- see Cons) Cons: - I would appreciate more smiles, eye contact and better communication from the staff. When I entered, they just confirmed I came to pick up my take out order and it'd be nice if they had also kindly let me know approximately how long I'd need to wait and maybe looked at me and smiled. - the price/portion size ratio could be a bit better We (two adults) had two base dishes (rice & noodles) and five "meat" servings of 100 g (they recommend 200 g "meat" servings per person), paid a total of 23.50€ and we weren't very full after the meal. - the fried noodles seemed a bit sad in that they were mostly very short, like they had been cut into approximately 5-cm long pieces. I'd prefer them longer and fresher looking. - I'd love to see them make some (more) creative vegan desserts. I've had amazing Asian cuisine inspired desserts based on rice and coconut milk, and I'm sure they could come up with something similar. - the place is very crammed (including the seating outside). I'd not feel comfortable eating there.

Would never have imagined vegetarian char siew, but it is offered here and tastes great.

Very nice family owned place with kind people and delicious food. We were so stuffed after the large bowl but wanted to try everything. They have a daily special and this time it was roti-style potato curry which was a highlight for me. Eggless noodles were also great! Must say it’s a little pricey maybe for some. Still, very much worth it.

Well I could not be more disappointed! The promises had been those of a bigmouth. Selling by portions of 100g there was so much water in the sauce, for example the portion of 400 g consisted of 230 g of liquid which is so overpriced I was merely speechless! Selling merely water! Did the taste catch up? No, not at all! This is close to robbery and I want my money back! We (2 persons)ate for 36€ and the money was wasted!

Really liked all the flavors, happy my girlfriend (vegetarian all her life) could finally taste some Indonesian dishes (the ones that are usually meat) ! Also love the options for cold/warm and sizes amazing!!! Please open in Amsterdam!!! ❤

Had a takeaway food bowl. Very nice food, Indonesian style. Surprisingly creative dishes where the original meat protein is replaced by equivalent alternatives. Definitely recommended, also if you're usually ordering meat

The taste is authentic and delicious, and the texture is great. The toko has such a wide range of menu to choose. The extra groot rijsttafel is more than enough to cater for 3 people. To date, De Vegetarische Toko is the best Indonesian vegetarian food in town.

I’m not vegan or vegetarian, but went because of the good reviews and it’s no lie. Finally an Indonesian that tastes fresh and where vegetables are still crunchy. So tasty! Looking forward to taste more!

Nice vegan* place with many faux-meat options as well as vegetable dishes to enjoy indonesian food while in Den Haag. For groups of 2+ people there is a taste-menu containing different dishes to share (perfect for curious/indecisive people). There is some seating in the restaurant but rather made as take out place. *Only their layered cake is not fully vegan.

This is the best and probably healthiest warung in The Hague maybe even the Netherlands. An amazing variety of 'meats' and all the bumbu's made from scratch. We've been coming here since the beginning and the quality has been outstanding. Family owned and great with people always kind and so generous! All the vegans out there this is a must eat!

Amazing place! We ran into this warung by chance. We were super hungry and could get our hands om some amazing vegan dishes. The owner Max recommended us the vegan rendang and sate. Good portions, amazing flavor and really nice welcoming vibe. 10/10 would recommend in the area.

We ordered the vegan "Rijsttafel DVT 2 Personen" and it was super tasty with generous portions (we will definitely have enough for lunch tomorrow) with a nice variety of dishes, side dishes and condiments.

We had a lovely take out dinner from de Vegatarische Toko. We tried the tasting menu - all elements were delicious, particularly the rendang, and definitely value for money. My only wish is for there to be less wasteful packaging (seemed a little excessive with aluminum, cling wrap and containers) but other than that it was great!

Amazing food, many choices friendly calm guy selling his stuff. Nice that you can either eat there, or grab cold food to heat up at home too, very convenient!

Food was incredibly good. It was fresh and seasoned well, like good Indonesian food should be. I will definitely come back to try other dishes. This Toko comes highly recommended, also for non vegans.

We had the sharing menu for 2 people and there were 3 of us - the portions were very generous and we all left very full & satisfied. You can choose all the individual items yourself and the person behind the counter is super helpful and happy to recommend options. Everything we ate was really tasty and varied, and the service was great! We will all definitely come back :)

Very tasty and pretty authentic. For insiders: the lodeh contains petai, which translates as stinky bean but is considered somewhat of a delicacy in Indonesia. Definitely 5 stars!

Ordered here on a Friday evening, was just too late with placing my order but they were still very happy to help and stayed open a little later to prepare my food. The food itself was tasty and varied and came in good sized portions. Overall very satisfied, will definitely order here again.

Very pleased with the large order we placed last week (18 people). They were very helpful with organizing this, as we had to make sure the food was still warm. Everything worked out great and the food was delicious! Everybody enjoyed it a lot. We had quite some food left because the portions are large, but of course we did not mind eating the rest of it and sharing it with friends/family. Thanks a lot and see you again!

A delicious restaurant in the Hague! We were very warmly greeted by the owners of the restaurant and advised on which dishes to try out. We ordered the Rames which included two vegetable dishes, two 'meat' options, and a choice of Nasi/Bami. Very tasty & full of flavor! We were also very happy with the quantities - definitely recommend and will be back!
