Now, this is a resort! One can comfortably stay in this place for one whole month without stepping out of the premises. The only things missing in this place are a local market and a school. For a place this big, it is clean. I'm not an architect or surveyor, so I can't give an estimate of the mass on which this resort sits but this place can comfortably take 5,000 guests (I may be grossly underestimating). The name - Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) doesn't prepare a guest for what the unassuming gate/entrance opens one to. No gate/entrance fee at the main gate. There is a hotel in this premise (quite big - looked like it had about 50 - 100 rooms). Room rates are 45k and above! Bonus point - The hotel has rooms for personal drivers and other support staff that travel with their bosses. The furniture in the reception screams HERITAGE! There is a spa, salon, gym and meeting halls/rooms inside the hotel buildings) There is a pool very close to the hotel/lodge. There is a Lawn Tennis Court too! There are 2 event centres (marquees/tents) - a small one that can take about 700 people and a bigger one. There is a Church. There is a mosque. There is a wild life park - closes at 7pm and requires an entrance fee of 1000 Naira. There is a water body on which boat rides can be done. A ride goes for 1000Naira for two trips round the water body. There is a museum - closes at 5pm There is a Recording Studio 😃 and a Cinema! The Library is massive - couldn't go in because I got there after 5pm which is when the library closes. There is a rock inside this place too, and guess what? There is a bush bar in the top of the rock! It gives a view of a part of the city - beautiful! Children are not left out - There is an Amusement Park!!! There is a Bamboo Grove for the Jaiye Jaiye folks!!! Last but not the least, and perhaps, the icing on the cake for me - The Book/Souvenir Shop!..... Customised OOPL souvenirs and pretty Made In Nigeria educational pieces. Everybody who visits Abeokuta should definitely visit this place!

The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library is the first of its kind owned by any Nigerian and African President. The name library could mislead you into thinking of it as a normal or conventional library. It is not. You are taken on a tour of his life; family background, upbringing, schooling, career and achievements as former Military Head of State (1976-1979) and President (1999-2007). The library houses some of the former President's most treasured personal materials, documents and gifts of state during his tenure as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I must say that the former President is good at keeping records, some dating as far back as 60 to 70 years. I concluded my visit by taking pictures on the chair and desk he used as President between 1999 and 2007. There is also a Presidential museum containing vehicles (Beetle car, Popemobile and bicycle) used by him as Head of State and President. Apart from the pictures taken at his desk, picture taking is not permitted within the library and museum. The library and museum are of historical significance and truly worth the visit.

It’s really a one fit all experience, you’ve got and Hotel if your looking for a room, Apartment housing is also available For Rentals. There’s a cinema with amazing popcorns lol, PS4 Console, really reasonable movie price and they keep to Time. Then there’s the Resort Are really Beautiful and Easy on the Eyes. There are a lot of Threes so you get the African Feel. If you want a quiet Time go on Weekdays but if want to have Fun meet New People then Weekend is the Time to Go there. Overall it’s a Beautiful place to visit.

I had an experience that will leave a lasting impression on me. Olusegun obasanjo presidential library(OOPL as it's popularly called) is more than a library. It's a museum, amusement park and a fully-fledged resort. First thing first, you are not allowed to use your own camera within the library. However, you csn hire their in-house photographer. The final product would be nice although the pictures will be watermarked. The complex is a very large expanse of land that houses a couple of entities such as : 1. The oopl library/museum building 2. The green legacy resort hotel 3. Oowp olusegun obasanjo wildlife park 3. Chalets 4. A cinema 5. Modern car wash 6. A church 7. Mosque. 8. Multiple event centre's 9.a club house and lounge 10. A lake for boat ride 11. Bamboo groove where you can get fresh palmwine 12. Multiple event halls and so on. I will discuss the things I personally enjoyed on my trip. First and foremost, the library is a first of its kind and your journey starts from the entrance where you will be introduced to the followings: 1. Baba obasanjo's bicycle 2. His Volkswagen beetle car as a military head of state. 3. The helicopter he imported so that our naf personnel can be trained locally 4. The presidential bullet proof car that he first used as the civilian president and so on. Moving to the main library, you will be introduced to the plethora of awards that were received by baba both as president and after office. Secondly, you will be cited while baba welcomes you to the library officially via a recorded video. From there the tour proper will begin in earnest. The tour guide would introduce you to the various books written by obj, his YOLA prison, his family background, children, his traveling across the globe and so on. My favorite moment was when I sat on the chair that Is a replica of the one in Aso took some nice pictures. The hotel was running on a promo when I visited so the standard room cost #38,000 while the deluxe cost #45,000 One review cannot cover everything. However, I really enjoyed myself with the palmwine, at the wildlife park, in the library, cinemas and so on.

This is a really good place, a perfect place to hang out. You get literally any amusement you want here, ranging from historical information down to beautiful sceneries and a lot of amazing things to do and places to visit all in one place, not leaving out the wildlife park and cinema too. Indeed exquisite.

OOPL is simply amazing! I would never have imagined such a place in Abeokuta fr. It has a zoo, museum, library, amusement park, bamboo grove and so much more. Although you'd need a tour guide to access some of these places but it's pretty cheap as it costs just 3k. You should definitely try this if you're in Abeokuta for the weekend. Oh and they have an okay nightlife scene too.

Olusegun Obasonjo presidential Library is the Jewel of resource centers in Abeokuta. Whatever form of entertainment you're looking for is available there. It has an amusement park for children, a resort center, a zoo with quite a few animals, a hilltop bar, a swimming pool, a bamboo sitting area, a library, worship centers and an estate. It is well equipped large car parks to accommodate all visitors. One of the few problem I observed with the OOPL is that there are no signposts/direction post indicating where each section is in the venue.

I actually thought it was a real library you could visit to read books but it's actually more than that. The presidential library houses a couple of facilities you can visit. Starting from welcome pavilion that houses an Artifacts room and a cinema. Then the main library building which is a museum gives you insights to Olusegun Obasanjo's life from childhood to his rise in the army and presidential career. Entry fee is 3000 Naria. Cameras are not allowed inside but they have their own photographers who can take your pictures at a fee. The entrance includes a guided tour.

The contemporary headquarters of the Ancient Owu Kingdom. Depicting the Olowu, first Oba to be crowned by Odùduwà, it is a living mirage of the cultural begining of the Yoruba nation.

Nice resort to visit. The library is quite educational 👌👍. The zoo is OK too👏. There are very pleasant tour guides that will walk you through. However, the maintenance team needs to do a lot more. The rest rooms 👎 in the various sections need to be put in decent shape! Also there aren't adequate signages to guide visitors. It is a cool 😎 and decent and place to visit for both adults and children. May God bless and prolong the life of the visioneer.

OOPL is a presidential museum that chronicles and documents the life of General Olusegun Obasanjo (rtd). There are artifacts, memorabilia, documents and pictures from every dimension of his life - student, soldier, politician, diplomat, farmer, writer and elder statesman. The OOPL is situated on a massive land and the centre is obviously well run and maintained. You get a tour of the facilities or parts of it by paying a fee. Lovely place to visit.

  • 4/5 Emmanuel A. 4 years ago on Google
It was interesting to see a lot of animals at the OOPL wildlife park, I think they need to do more publicity for this place, many people in Abeokuta don’t know that such things are available to experience in Abeokuta.

Nice place to catch up with Nigerian history from the perspective of the contributions, the life impact and the challenges and even travails of former president Olusegun Obasanjo. It is conceived as a complete community with a museum, children play facility, instututes, cinema house, bookshop, african food stalls, adire and artifacts store, zoo and some other attractions. It is however being gradually perfected but what is on ground now is sufficient beauty to behold and may take you hours to visit. The life story of Obasanjo with Nigeria is performatively rendered in audio, video, pictures, material paraphernalia and by a guide. You also get to meet Obasanjo's contrmporaries in his life engagements in the diverse media used.

My initial thoughts were that it is the regular library of books and I wondered why I needed to go on a tour there but no! It is actually a library of artefacts, shows you a lot about the history and politics of Nigeria. I would recommend a visit to the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library also called OOPL. Photos are not allowed though...

OOPL is a library. Then a wildlife park(zoo), with an amusement park, a hotel coupled with a bar, a grill house, pool club, a "bookshop" and a hiking with mountain view spots of the city called Rock of Inspiration... This has three observation devices where the ancient city of Abẹ́òkúta can be viewed. Missed a walk in the wildlife park as I got there past 6pm. Though, saw mostly cows from the rock of inspiration while taking a sneak view of the park. And the peacocks are quite loud. The souvenir and bookshop is stocked with books but not an educational research stop point. In all, it's more like a recreational arena than a presidential library

There's a Ferris wheel and other fun children amusement park ingredients, a mini go-kart, paint ball, two lounges, a swimming pool, bamboo groove, a lake with a pedal kayak, a wildlife park with horse rides, a rock, a cinema, a car wash, a hotel, an event center (a Marquee), a mosque, a church, book store and yes, a library (goes without saying I guess, since it's in the name). So ideal for all ages. I know I'm missing out some other attractions.

The receptionist at Green Legacy Resort told us OOPL opens on Saturdays (10am to 1pm); we just need to walk there and someone in the library will take us round. Got there and the library was locked. We assumed we accessed it through the wrong entrance and tried to locate, maybe another entrance. We were accosted & rudely addressed by a uniformed Policeman and another in mufty; while trying to explain the situation, the policeman corked his gun. It turned into a shouting scene and other staff around waded in. We later found out former President Obasanjo lives close to the library and the police were to protect the area. I don't care who the heck they are protecting, a little courtesy and humanity is important. Maybe he wanted to shoot or whatever but I am not returning to that place ever! A place where you miss your way and a wreckless policeman can shoot because he is protecting another human being. I don't see clear synchronization btw OOPL & GLR. Staff A tells you one thing, staff B says staff A is a newbie. 100% thumbs down!

I love the view and the sight is so beautiful. Obasanjo is such a visionary person and having this in the heart of Abeokuta is such a beautiful thing. I wasn’t able to enter the library and tour because I am not with a tour guide. But we visited the bookshop. There’s also a boat ride option here. Electric boat ride. Better don’t waste your money here 😒.
