TRANSPORTATION
IDERE
HILLS
is
approximately
2hrs
drive
from
Ibadan.
For
a
private
ride,
the
description
on
Google
maps
is
about
90%
accurate.
For
a
public
ride,
you'd
need
to
get
to
Igboora
(costs
btw
1500
and
2000naira)
and
then
take
a
cab
for
100naira
to
Idere.
ENTRIES
AND
FEES
Entries
cost
500naira
per
head
and
payment/registration
is
done
at
the
King's
Palace
(a
white
building
that
is
quite
easy
to
locate
or
better
still
just
ask
the
locals)
.
The
fee
to
pay
the
tour
guide
isn't
defined
as
that
is
to
be
negotiated
on
a
personal
note.
THE
EXPERIENCE/ADVENTURE
The
hike
was
great.
I
had
a
wonderful
experience.
It
takes
about
4hrs
for
a
full
adventure.
It's
a
tedious
hike
but
nothing
to
rigorous.
A
backpack
with
water
and
/
or
energy
drink
would
do
a
lot
of
good.
Shoes
with
very
good
grip
should
also
be
top
priority.
-
Be
sure
to
take
a
picture
bottom
hill
where
we
have
the
iderehill
inscriptions
on
a
rock
and
beautifully
coloured
tyres.
-
The
Iyara
which
signifies
the
"entrance"
to
the
hill
also
gives
very
picturesque
views
-
Be
on
the
look
out
for
the
bottomless
lake
with
the
fish
shape.
A
pose
or
two
won't
be
a
bad
idea
*winks*
-
The
natural
swimming
pool
is
indeed
a
sight
to
behold.
If
the
water
is
clean
during
your
visit
(it
wasn't
during
mine)
,
be
sure
to
take
a
dive
π.
-
Climbing
the
aroye
rock
(the
3
layered
rock)
is
about
the
most
rigorous
activity
on
the
hills.
I
couldn't
get
past
the
first
layer
ππ.
But
pls
attempt
the
climb
as
the
adrenaline
pump
is
very
good
for
you.
-
As
with
most
hills
in
Nigeria,
idere
hills
also
has
a
cave
which
serves
as
shelter
during
the
18th
century
War.
-
Getting
to
the
summit
of
the
hills
gives
you
one
of
the
most
breathtaking
views
you'd
ever
come
across
anywhere
in
Nigeria.
Be
Strike
a
VICTORY
POSE
at
the
summit
as
you
have
done
well
if
you
get
to
hike
up
the
summit.
CONCERNS
AND
AREAS
OF
IMPROVEMENT
I'd
like
to
advise
that
the
community
is
sensitised
on
the
tourism
potentials
of
the
hills.
While
I
waited
for
the
tour
guide
to
arrive,
I
didn't
like
the
response
I
got
from
the
cab
man
that
dropped
us
off
when
we
told
him
we
came
to
hike.
If
I
wasn't
a
serial
hiker/tourist,
I
would
have
been
greatly
discouraged.
.
It'd
be
good
to
have
signages
on
the
major
road
that
leads
to
idere
hills
(e.g
there's
a
signage
to
Yankari
games
reserve
from
the
major
Road
even
though
its
abt
45mins
from
that
junction)
.
This
Signages
encourage
tourists
that
they
are
on
the
right
path
and
erases
their
security
fears
to
a
large
extent.
.
Small
signages
giving
the
details
of
each
significant
site
on
the
hills
would
also
go
a
long
way
(e.g
the
lake
with
the
shape
of
a
fish,
the
natural
swimming
pool,
the
caves,
and
also
some
victory
symbol
at
the
summit
would
also
encourage
hikers
to
want
to
get
to
the
top
of
the
hills
when
they
see
pictures
or
videos
of
other
tourists
at
the
summit.
