Every first Sunday of the month, the admission of the national archeology museum is free.

Decent paths to stroll around. The incredible 16th-17th century interior courtyard is my favourite part of the museum as the exhibits insides are 99.9% in French. I literally counted two English translations. Only the first floor is open as well. Glad I saw this on the free first Sunday as I would have hated to pay. I was in and out of the museum in 10 minutes. The church also is not that impressive IMO.

Those castle is gorgeous and has got an archeology museum really well done. There is also another exhibition that change every few months. It's inside the city next to a huge part with playground and next to the exit of RER A. Also beside bar and restaurants. Perfect place with a perfect location and a view of Paris from the edge of the garden. Really recommend to visit.

First _ it is a bit far from Paris, so utterly peaceful but with Parisian architecture. This already makes it a true delight. The food options are just amazing and I can recommend quite a few there. Last and my favorite part - there is a Neolithic period museum with real specimens from Bronze and Iron age inside the Chateau. If you are a nerd this is a must visit. If you are out on a romantic getaway the area + gardens will set the mood right ;)

Brilliant Sunday afternoon out. Fantastic views across the castle gardens, La Defense visible on the horizon. Lots to see and do. Resting place of King James VII of Scotland (II of England) in a building adjacent to the Chateaux- beautiful plaque on display in the outside wall of building (see photos). Recommend highly for a visit 🤗

One of my favorite cities near Paris is Saint Germain en Laye! I love coming here and come here often to visit the castle and grand park. The Castle has a large green space where you can play sports, have a run, or enjoy a nice picnic. There is also a small snack bar where you can buy food and drinks. It’s currently closed due to covid but that doesn’t change anything. The castle is located near a lot of cafes and stores so it’s easy to walk out and get food or do some shopping! This is very kid friendly! Just make sure you wear comfortable shoes because you’ll do a lot of walking and the ground is dirt or grass. The castle is currently closed but when it’s open, it’s so great to do a little tour of the place!

What a beautiful château! This is where Louis XIV was born and lived until he moved to Versailles! Great look off from the gardens. This is not a Château that you can visit inside, except for the museum part and the interior court. Still worth the ride there! While you are there, visit the archeology museum, which is where the world archives are! Fantastic museum :)

Former royal residence of the Kings of France. Versailles gets all the attention but Saint Germain was their home until Louis XIV came along... Unfortunately couldn't visit the entire castle in July but the Archeology museum is well worth the trip - we actually learnt a lot and it is free for younger children. Also, the gardens are worth walking through for their incredible vista over La Defense and Paris. And whilst in the gardens, take a look at the deceptively-lengthy promenade which Mansart built in such a way that it appears much shorter than it really is: The width of the path increases gradually as one walks away from the castle so as to counteract the natural perspective reduction created by long distances. Mansart was both sneaky and genial...

Very good location. On top of a hill and the view of entire Paris region is very good. Vast amount of green lawns and open spaces. Castle is a very good tourist place. Right next to RER station and worth the visit.

Beautiful town, peaceful and quaint. People were nice and cafes so full of energy. I loved watching the happy people take their time to spend together! Noone sat inside but enjoyed the weather outdoors - it was picturesque!

Beautiful outdoors, the garden is huge and offers a breathtaking panoramic view on Paris, nice water fountain as well. However, it is a shame we cannot visit the rooms, kitchen and others parts of the Castle. Unfortunately, you only have access to one floor which hosts the national museum of archeology.

Nice castles on the outskirts of Paris. Home to an archeological museum. Park next to it with brilliant view on Paris.

It is a beautiful and quite place. Can plan a picnic in the gardens. There is an archeological museum for decent price. The museum is not related to the chateau. You can get a nice view of the city of Paris free of cost.

Very nice palace to visit. Not too big but with a modern style. They have also the big garden for the group and the family…

Very beautiful outside but not much things to see inside. Its kinda archeological museum with bones, arrows, pots and other prehistorical stuff.

Very quiet and beautiful castle. The staff there is VERY accommodating and kind, I can’t thank them enough for helping my family out with the heat stroke. However I do think it’s a huge shame that you don’t really get to see the castle. It’s just an archeological museum, and quite small at that. I do wish I could have visited more of it

Of course, the castle is gorgeous and has been fully restored (btw Louis XIV was born in St-Germain) but what is really interesting and unique is the museum. It showcases fascinating sculptures from the neolithic (yes stone age...like Lascaux paintings) which are just incredible.

Beautiful sceneries, great food, places to visit and very clean. However, people don't respect traffic rules. Was there last week with my wife and daughter. Worst occasion, we're on the middle of the zebra crossing with a child and 2 cyclist came beaming and didn't stop until last second and ended up crashing, shocking experience. People are generally rude on the street and public spaces. Sadly 3 stars and would never go back.

Nice restoration of the castle. Lovely chapel and courtyard. We did not visit the exhibits which are historical to the Gaul period. (Were in town to visit friends so had no time.)

With its wonderful large garden it is a real haven of peace. The International School in the neighborhood gives it the international flavor I adore, you can hear all kinds of languages 🙂. It gives an « aire » of holiday all year long. A parc with class

Well maintained and museum unique with excellent prehistoric artifacts unearthed in France. Quiet and not crowded like most museums in Paris.
